WELCOME I am pleased to say our 2018/19 season was a success on many fronts. We welcomed new Members to the community, experienced strong real estate sales, enjoyed an abundant and varied lineup of events, and of course, spectacular weather. We now turn our thoughts to the summer months and the many enhancements taking place throughout the community. In March we closed our golf course for a major restoration that will take place over the summer. We are excited to be working with the course’s original designer Robert Trent Jones, Jr. on this significant developer-sponsored project. The course will reopen in early November in time for the start of the new season. Another big focus over the summer is planning for our 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup. Co-chaired by the Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, attendees can expect another spectacular day of high-goal polo featuring a roster of top-level international players. More details on this signature charity event are on page 5. At the center of Windsor’s vibrant community is an event schedule that ranges from the casual to the sublime. From the sporting to cultural to culinary, something is always bringing together the families that live here. Some of these events are highlighted in this issue.

2020 WINDSOR CHARITY POLO CUP COMMEMORATIVE ARTWORK AND BENEFICIARIES REVEALED Plans are well underway for the signature high-goal charity polo match of the 2020 season. The Charity Polo Cup at Windsor, co-chaired by the Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, will take place February 15 on Windsor’s exquisite polo grounds. Again this year, the highlight of the day will be an exciting polo match with a roster of top-level international players,but many other interactive and entertaining events and exhibitions also are planned including a champagne luncheon, tailgating contest, luxury automobile display, specialty retail village and more. Net proceeds from Windsor’s biennial event will benefit three local charities selected by the Windsor Membership and include the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, the Humane Society of Indian River County and the Literacy Services of Indian River County. Windsor recently unveiled the 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup commemorative poster artwork designed by seasoned artist Carrie Nygren. The painting, which features a striking profile of a majestic polo horse, will be auctioned off during the event. Titled “Between Chukkers,” the painting draws a connection to polo terminology given its reference to the periods of play within a polo match. Finding a balance between contemporary compositions and traditional painting in Nygren’s signature style, the piece captures the horse in a perfect moment of rest while it waits for play to resume. As the first in a series of polo paintings, this piece has sentimental value to Nygren, who is rediscovering her art after her self-characterized “in-between” years where she garnered an MFA and a 30-plus-year career creating and producing commercials.

“I have such deep admiration for the sport of polo as well the athleticism, heart and drive the ponies have out on the field,” Nygren says. “In no other sport is there such a unique relationship between horse and rider as there is in polo. My goal is to capture the spirit of the sport, the majestic power and character of the horse, all in a moment in time.” The Wisconsin-based artist will be on hand to sign posters during the Windsor event. A selection of her works will be available for purchase at a pop-up gallery in the specialty retail village. A percentage of all sales will go to the event’s charities. The 2018 Charity Polo Cup, which featured Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras, Rodrigo Andrade and other top polo players, raised $280,000 for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s charities at the local and national level. To support the 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup and its beneficiaries, Windsor has created various sponsorship levels to meet all budgets. They are available for purchase now. STAN SMITH RETURNS TO WINDSOR TENNIS LEGEND ADDS STOP AT WINDSOR TO BOOK TOUR Windsor Members and guests recently enjoyed an afternoon mingling with tennis legend Stan Smith, who was at Windsor as part of the community’s ongoing Visiting Author Series. Smith, who is a former world No. 1 tennis player and two-time Grand Slam singles champion, gave a private talk at Windsor’s Town Hall and then signed copies of his recently published book, Stan Smith: Some People Think I’m A Shoe. Smith’s book tour began last September, with signings in Asia, Europe and the United States, but he affectionately called his stop in Windsor “a highlight of the tour.” “We were thrilled to welcome Stan back to Windsor since his previous involvement in the community in the early 1990s when he designed our eight, beautiful Har-Tru tennis courts,” says Jane Smalley, Marketing Director for Windsor. “We have a large number of tennis enthusiasts at Windsor, so it was a delight to have Stan here regaling stories about his experience playing professional tennis and the famed collaboration with Adidas.” Smith developed a special connection to Windsor in 1991 when his firm designed the community’s tennis courts. The plan was to make the courts look more like a park rather than a parking lot and Smith said Windsor’s facility is one of the best they had worked on. Tennis fans know Smith as a strong competitor with 53 career singles titles, including Wimbledon and U.S. Open championships, and 54 career doubles titles, including the Australian Open and multiple U.S. Open titles with partner Bob Lutz. But for some, his name is synonymous with the iconic Stan Smith Adidas sneaker. Adidas released a line of sneakers named after Smith that have been an international best seller since being launched in 1973. Published by Rizzoli, Smith’s new coffee table book celebrates the sneakers by showcasing global street-style photography and touching upon pop-culture references within lyrics and movies. Windsor Member Lee Fentress, whose law firm represented Smith when he turned pro, introduced the tennis legend to the Windsor audience, calling him, “a true statesman of the game, a sportsman and a true gentleman.” During his presentation, Smith shared stories and anecdotes from his celebrated career and his association with Adidas saying his 1972 Wimbledon win over Ilie Nastase, was “a special moment.” His partnership with Adidas began around the same time and Smith said it has been fun to see people wearing the shoe. Although the basic design of the shoe has remained the same since its introduction, the shoe has appeared in several variations and editions including vegan tennis shoes endorsed by British fashion designer Stella McCartney. Smith and his wife Marjory reside on Hilton Head Island where he opened the Smith Stearns Tennis Academy with B.J. Stearns, a former top nationally and internationally ranked player.

BALLET AT THE PERGOLA WINDSOR HOSTS FIRST ANNUAL OUTDOOR BALLET PERFORMANCE More than 120 Windsor Members and guests took delight in an afternoon ballet performance at Windsor’s Village Centre in mid-March. Windsor’s “Ballet at the Pergola” featured four beautiful pieces performed by Ballet Vero Beach dancers Camilo Rodriguez, Katherine Eppink and Anders Southerland. The dances were choreographed by Kate van der Mars, Adam Schnell and Rodriguez, who also serves as Ballet Vero Beach ballet master. The complimentary event, sponsored by Windsor Marketing, included a reception that provided an opportunity to mingle with Ballet Vero Beach’s artistic staff. “We have been working with Windsor since our inception and I am so grateful that we have finally arrived at the point of our first fully staged performance on the Windsor property,” says Schnell, the Artistic Director and CEO of Ballet Vero Beach. “Our company is not only lucky to perform in such an idyllic setting, but for such a philanthropic group of arts lovers. Vero Beach is a stronger and more beautiful community thanks to the Windsor membership, staff, and charitable foundation.” Ballet Vero Beach is the only resident professional dance organization between Orlando and Palm Beach. To promote the art of dance as a universal language, Ballet Vero Beach schedules performances by its professional company, presents reputable national and international dance artists and works through educational and community outreach programs. Windsor Member Stacey Lewis, who recently joined the Ballet Vero Beach board, introduced the performance at Windsor, which has long been a supporter of the arts. "I’m so proud of this company and Vero Beach is so lucky to have a ballet company," Lewis says. "I think it speaks volumes about the people who live in Vero Beach." At the event, Members were able to support the company through donations to The Windsor Charitable Foundation dedicated for Ballet Vero Beach’s community outreach activities. BRYANT ESTATE POURS AT WINDSOR NAPA'S FAMED WINERY HOSTS A TASTING AT THE BEACH CLUB

Members and guests gathered at the Beach Club one early evening in February to taste wines from the acclaimed California winery Bryant Estate. Proprietor and President Bettina Bryant and the winery’s Tony McClung were on hand to showcase the winery’s highly coveted portfolio of limited quality wines. Attendance was limited to 55 but those who were able to participate were afforded the rare opportunity to sample selections of Bryant Estate’s varietals including The Bryant Family Cabernet Sauvignon, first released in 1992. Wine tasters also sipped BETTINA, a beautifully layered wine named for Bettina Bryant. The Bryant Estate wines are harvested, blended and produced by hand from grapes planted and grown on a 13-acre estate as well as on neighboring vineyards on Howell Mountain, Las Posadas and Madrona. Each season Windsor schedules wine tastings for its Members at the Beach Club and now at its new state-of-theart wine storage facility, which boasts temperature-controlled storage with the capacity to hold more than 40,000 bottles and an inviting tasting room that can accommodate small-to-medium-sized tasting events.
