Hose Placement

Packet

All  County  Window  Cleaning

After doing  the  initial  house  inspection,  find  the  closest  water  spigot  to  the  truck  and  test  it.

2

Run the  garden  hose  from  power  washer  to  the  spigot.    Do  not  turn  the  water  on  yet.

3

Run the  pressure  hose  from  the  power  washer  around  the  house  connecting  as  many  hoses   as  needed  to  reach  the  far  end  of  the  house.    Hook  the  gun  up  to  the  end  of  the  last  hose.

1

4

While coming  back  to  the  truck,  turn  the  spigot  on.    Do  not  run  the  power  washer  without   the  water  on.    This  can  burn  out  the  pump.

5

Note: Do  not  let  the  black  pressure  hoses  touch  any  vinyl  surfaces.    It  will  leave  a  mark  that   is  extremely  hard  to  get  off.

Desired Result:  Efficient  Hose  Placement

Trips to  Truck

Packet

All  County  Window  Cleaning

1

During hose  placement,  trips  to  the  truck  can  be  limited  by  bringing  multiple  hoses  with  you.

2

The only  way  to  limit  trips  to  get  more  chemical  is  to  use  less  chemical.    Do  not  carry  the   chemical  around  with  you.    Leave  it  by  the  truck.

Fill up  the  gas  before  starting  every  job  to  avoid  running  out  in  the  middle.

3

4

Carry extra  o-‐rings  with  you.

5

Carry a  multi-‐tool  with  you.    It  will  be  extremely  handy.

6

7

Desired Result:  Limit  trips  to  truck

System

Weather Conditions

Packet

All  County  Window  Cleaning

Note wind  direction  and  speed  at  each  job.    When  spraying  chemical,  wind  will  carry  the   chemical  to  places  not  intended.    Be  extra  careful  when  buildings,  cars,  people,  etc.  are  nearby.     Wind  can  also  limit  how  high  and  where  you  can  reach  with  the  water  and  chemical.    Do  not  use   a  ladder  to  try  to  reach  these  areas.

2

Rain usually  is  not  a  big  factor  in  the  outcome  of  the  power  washing.    Rain  gear  is   recommended  though.

1

3

Pay attention  to  what  side  of  the  house  that  the  sun  is  hitting.    If  the  house  is  sun-‐faded,  and   chemical  is  allowed  to  dry  on  that  side,  there  is  a  chance  of  worsening  the  sun-‐faded  areas.

All  County  Window  Cleaning

During the  initial  house  inspection,  note  all  sun-‐faded  areas.    Also  note  the  color  of  the  siding.     To  check  for  sun-‐fade,  rub  your  hand  along  suspected  areas.    If  a  white  residue  is  on  your  hand,   the  area  is  sun-‐faded.       Note:  Blue  and  red  siding  seems  to  be  most  affected  by  chemical  and  pressure  washes.    Take   extra  precautions  when  cleaning  this  colored  siding.

2

Inform the  manager/customer  about  any  damage  before  starting.    Make  sure  they  know  that   the  sun-‐faded  areas  will  not  “look  like  new”  after  a  house  wash.

3

Be mindful  of  these  defects  when  cleaning  the  house.    Limit  the  amount  of  chemical,   pressure,  and  time  that  the  chemical  is  allowed  to  sit  on  the  affected  areas.     If  the  sun-‐faded  areas  are  relatively  clean.    Do  not  use  any  chemical.    Do  a  light  rinse  only.

Test each  spigot.    The  pressure  in  one  spigot  can  be  very  low,  while  another  one  can  be   excellent.

1

3

Look for  corroded  “old  looking”  spigots.    These  older  spigots  can  have  a  tendency  to  break.     They  may  not  turn  off  completely  after  opening  them.    Avoid  them  whenever  possible.

Delicate Plants

Packet

All  County  Window  Cleaning

1

During the  initial  house  inspection,  note  all  places  where  there  are  delicate  plants.

2

The general  rule  for  this  is  the  smaller  the  plant,  the  more  susceptible  it  is  to  damage  from   using  the  chemical  near  it.    Avoid  smaller  plants  whenever  possible.

3

Move any  potted  plants.    These  pots  do  not  allow  for  the  chemical  to  be  diluted  down  and   seep  into  the  ground.    Therefore,  they  are  at  higher  risk.

4

Do not  spray  chemical  near  a  Coy  Pond.    It  will  kill  the  fish.    Inform  the  manager/customer  of   this.

5

Always rinse  any  unmovable  plants  immediately  before  and  after  spraying  the  chemical.

6

If exposure  to  plants  cannot  be  avoided,  a  damage  waiver  must  be  signed  by  the  customer   before  work  can  begin.

2

If the  siding  is  fiber-‐cement  board  (Hardy  Plank),  and  it’s  covered  in  algae,  moss,  etc.,  there   is  a  possibility  that  chunks  of  siding  will  come  off  during  the  house  wash.    The  siding  gets   broken  up  and  used  as  a  food  source  for  the  algae,  moss,  etc.    Inform  the  manager/customer   about  this  condition  before  starting.    Always  get  a  damage  waiver  signed  in  this  case.
