Sunday 17th October, for Keri Jones. We are taking this up in addition to our regular offering to show our appreciation of Keri’s ministry as an apostle towards us as local churches. We will present this gift to him as he joins us on Sunday 24th October in a joint celebration with our related churches in Liverpool and Manchester, where the apostolic oversight of those churches will be handed over to Richard Anniss. More details to follow of the joint celebration.

How to Be a Great Listener!! We were privileged to hear Mark Lawrence speak with us two weeks ago about prophecy. He used the analogy of staying connected to our outside world through mobile phone technology. In a similar way, it is important that we stay connected to Heaven because God’s Truth supersedes our earthly situations. We should always ask God what He is saying in our situation. We are also to declare (literally speak out loud) His Word to release His miracle-working power in our lives. However in order to declare God’s prophetic word, we need to be great listeners. Mark encouraged us not to doubt our ability to hear from God. “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” (Rom 10:17). We believe in God because we heard Him. In John 10: 4, we know that we “his sheep follow Him because [we] know His voice.” We were given practical ways of developing in prophecy: • Be available to hear from God • Practice hearing from God by engaging the Holy Spirit in conversation. • We must choose to obey and trust God in what He says to you through elders. • As you learn to hear from God, what you hear will be confirmed. • Learn to be bold. Don’t be held back by fear and “what ifs”. God’s grace is sufficient even if you get things wrong, what matters is your obedience (John 2:5). • Whatever we hear from God will always align with His Word. Through this, we will become a prophetic people whose voice will unlock God’s promises in our lives and in the lives of the people in our world. Ope Malamo
