Bible Week 2010:

Equipped For Works of Service

“…to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up…”

Welcome back to sunny Salford after spending a superb week with the people of God at the Staffordshire County Showground at this year’s Bible Week, Refresh. It was a great experience! We had great teaching and impartation from gifts (also known as ministries) of Christ such as apostles and prophets, amazing times of God’s presence and the closeness of community we have felt as we camped together. We met with God powerfully in the meetings and in our conversations. The great news is that our everyday lives here in Salford can carry the same powerful, glorious presence of Jesus as we had during this past week. This is our ‘normal’ life! We are privileged as New Life Church to enjoy the ministry of many gifts of Christ, who bring out the character and stature of Jesus in our lives throughout the week. Our leaders welcome gifts of Christ as there is need. We need their work among us is so the church builds itself up in love, until we are all fully Christ-like.

Ephesians 4:12

Gifts of Christ are individuals who have a calling to equip the rest of the Church to become more like Jesus in a certain way. Jesus said that to receive a prophet’s reward you must welcome a prophet in the name of a prophet (Matthew 10:41). That means you must appreciate what kind of gift a person is to get the most out of them. For example, if you heard an evangelist imparting something to you this week, then have faith you have received new ‘tools’ to see people saved, doing the work (2 Timothy 4:5).

As we meditate on the teaching, impartation and experiences of Bible Week 2010, let’s be sure we outwork what we are equipped for!
