Project Year 2018

Build Area 45 sqm

Mentor Dr. Susilo Kusdiwanggo, ST., MT.

Indonesia is the biggest archipelago country in the world. Most of these islands are surrounded by tectonic plates. In the southern to northern parts of Indonesia lies the Pacific Fire Ring Belt which extends from Sumatra to Maluku. This situa on has caused Indonesia to have high poten al as a country prone to natural disasters. Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) is one of the ci es prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes and volcanic erup ons. Earthquakes in Yogyakarta can be caused by earthquakes centered on land and and at sea. Therefore, it is necessary to have a space that func ons as a medium of educa on for the community, especially for ci zens of Yogyakarta, regarding the adverse effects of disasters, ways to prevent it, and how to save themselves from the disaster.

1

A rectangular shape that is stretched following the shape of the sidewalk

3

The rectangle is divided into three parts following the concept of balance njobo, contempla ve, and njero. Njobo means (evil) represen ng the gallery concept that aims to explain the disasters that o en occur, especially in Yogyakarta. the middle part is a balance zone which func ons as an educa on center while the last is njero (good) which means that visitors who have come have received knowledge.

4

The balance which is a combina on of njobo and njero which changes form into a circle

The three geometrical objects have a dilata on that changes the shape of the scale and also experiences division of the geometry.

6

5

All three objects experience shearing so they become distor on. the three objects undergoing the "shearing" process follow the philosophy that the people of Yogyakarta must work together to become a unity.

The front object con nues to experience distor on because it contains philosophical meaning that people who have not got the knowledge perfectly then increasingly backward, the object experience a rota on towards a stable form meaning that it contains a philosophy of human beings who have gained perfect knowledge (tranquility)

7 The object undergoes a change of color from the dark to the bright adjus ng the concept of njobo and njero.

Legi Blitar Market is one of the largest tradi onal markets in the city of Blitar. This market was established in 1944 which has long been a center of economic ac vity. Pasar Legi is also called the main market because this market is used as a combina on place between retail traders, wholesalers, and interregional trade that serves a wider area around Blitar. Legi market is the most complete market and the ďŹ rst market built in the city of Blitar. This market experienced several improvements in 1977 and 1999 un l in 2003 the market condi ons were no longer suďŹƒcient and revitalized.
