Haven House and the Youth Enhancement Services, proud members of the Women’s Issues Network of Belize, announce the launch of the project: “Towards Achieving the MDG’s in Belize through concerted and integrated Civil Society Action” on Tuesday, October 5 at 10:00 am at the Samuel Haynes Institute on Mahogany Street.

This 8 month project, centered in the Lake Independence area, will focus on participatory, interactive sessions to engage the community in gender empowerment and reproductive rights education with regard to linkages between gender-based violence, teenage pregnancies, commercial sexual exploitation, STIs and HIV/AIDS. Participants in the community sessions will also be referred to local community resources as well as to other resources within the WIN-Belize network and across government organizations. These referrals will be made to assist community members obtain access to treatment, care and support services as needed.
