Wiltshire & Swindon Sports Awards 2010 The first year of the inaugural Wiltshire and Swindon Sports Awards, organised in partnership by Wiltshire Council, Wiltshire and Swindon Activity and Sports Partnership, Swindon Borough Council, and NHS Wiltshire took place in September. The awards recognise and honour the work and achievements of sports clubs, volunteers, coaches and schools across the whole of Wiltshire and Swindon. The exciting evening saw over 100 people attend and was hosted by former England Rugby International Phil de Glanville. Of 12 categories were 4 Coaching awards. Sharon Carling Children’s Coach of the Year Sharon has coordinated and taught the Bradford on Avon Swimming Club’s Learn to Swim programme for the last 8 years.

Edd Dobson Young Coach of the Year Edd is a Level 1 Watersport coach for Devizes Canoe Club who freely gives his time and encouragement at the club.

Deb Hows Performance Coach of the Year Deb is one of GB’s top gymnastic coaches and has trained British and International medal winners and 10 qualifiers for the British Championships.

Jon Fearne Participation Coach of the Year Jon is a Level 2 Head Coach of Salisbury Tri Club and has implemented a varied training programme to suit all levels from novice to ironman. This has led to a growth in the clubs membership from 20 to over 140 in two years.

Dave Parson - Highly Commended Award for Children's Coach of the Year. Dave has coached the Under 11 section of the Swindon Harriers Athletics Club for 35 years with up to 80 young athletes attending each week.
