S SHHAAPPEE && F O R M INSPIRATION & APPROACH
This booklet is part of my development work which explores one of the concepts behind Fuel; the human form. The ‘ideal’ body type has taken on a number of forms over the past 3,000 years, as archetypes are directly influenced by society, art and media, thus proving the notion ‘ideal’ is constantly in flux. By showing antiquity in modern day scenarios it portrays that no matter what day and age it is, every body type has at some point been ‘ideal. Today, every body type should be conveyed as beautiful. Which is something I hope to convey through Fuels elements and arrangements within the space. I started investigating the form and function in 2D forms by tracing over curvatures of the body, then moving onto 3D forms with foam board, playing with three dimentional shapes to develop the design. It has allowed me to start engaging with the site and thinking about the journey through the space and the activities that will be taking place there.
EXPLORATION IN 3D
To accomodate the gym for all it’s users it is important for the space to contain open and secluded areas to train in within the site. Situating the 3D forms into different compositions allows me to explore the different ways I could accomodate the space with different forms.
