Please be vigilant and have any unusual rashes or spots checked out with your GP. Thank you. Advance Notice – End of Term Arrangements – Friday 20 December We would like to advise you that on Friday 20 December the students will be dismissed from 12.35pm onwards by their Heads of Year. If there are any concerns regarding this arrangement please contact your child’s Head of Year. Thank you. Thank you! A big ‘thank you’ to Mr and Mrs Ross, parents of Edmund Ross in Year 11 for kindly donating their unwanted Christmas tree to the school. This is now fully decorated and takes pride of place in our reception area! Responding to Parent Communication We value hugely the importance of the partnership between home and school and feel it is vital to ensure students’ optimum performance and well-being. Teachers are always willing to communicate with parents and carers and provide advice and support. We feel sure you will appreciate that it is difficult to guarantee a response within a set time however, as this depends on the teaching commitments, work priorities and prior arrangements of the individual members of staff concerned. Please be assured that every member of staff will respond to any communications as soon as realistically possible, as it is through this mechanism that we can ensure the best outcomes for all involved. Thank you for your continued support. Mr Keddie, Deputy Headteacher Christmas Meal – Tuesday 10 December Next Tuesday our canteen will serve a traditional Christmas turkey /veggie meal plus Christmas pudding, mince pie or chocolate cracknel, priced at £2.00, payable via Parentpay or barcoded letter from Reception. Delicious!
Data Collection Forms We have recently sent out Data Collection forms via your child for you to update and return. These forms are essential for us to keep our emergency contacts and other vital information up to date and include all your details, including telephone numbers and addresses. Please speak to your child if you have not yet received their sheet. Further copies are available from Reception, however we impress upon the students that they should look after these very carefully and return them to their form tutors as soon as possible, as the sheets contain a lot of confidential information. Thank you for your continued help with this process. Book of the Week The Book of the Week for the week beginning Monday 9 December 2013 is: “Storm runners” by Roland Smith. Chase Masters and his father are Storm Runners. They race across America in pursuit of hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. Anywhere bad weather strikes, they won't be far behind. Chase knows he is learning far more on the road than he ever would in a classroom. But when the worst hurricane of the century hits, Chase finds himself tested in ways he could never have imagined. He's alone, with no food and no shelter. Can Chase survive the storm? And will he ever see his father again…?
