Dear Parents and Care Givers Funky Friday Fashion / Garbage Show – Weds 18 May 6.30pm We wish to remind you that on Wednesday 18th May there will be a presentation of all of the work that Y7 have done this term, in the School Hall and Theatre. Work will include an eco-friendly Fashion Show, an exhibition of artwork, media based work on global environmental issues and displays of work showing how some of the groups would improve Langley’s environment. Weather permitting, there will also be a short tour of the work done in the vegetable and fruit growing area. The evening will commence at 6.30pm in the Hall, with the Fashion Show starting at approximately 7.15pm. Tickets cost £2 and are available from the Box Office. Congratulations to Langley’s Poets! Congratulations to the students listed below whose poems have been selected for entry in the 2011 “The Anthology”, a collation of poetry organised by Lyndon School. Over 500 entries were submitted and the competition was fierce, so well done to all those who had their poems accepted. Katja Benischke and Zoe Rhodes were both singled out by the judges for having particularly striking lines within their poems. Thomas Macey won the second prize in the Year 5-7 category. Particular mention must be made of Ashdone Khan for her outstanding reading of her poem in front of all the parents, students and judges at the presentation evening. The poems written by all the students below will appear on the school website very soon. Year 7 Megan Weir Benjamin Panaser Harleen Sahota Ashdone Khan Thomas Macey Megan Bache Holly Malin

Mr W Keddie, Assistant Headteacher Duke of Edinburgh Award A number of students have expressed an interest in completing the ‘Duke of Edinburgh Award’ scheme. In addition, some independent uniformed and voluntary groups offer D of E in Solihull, eg the Scout Association, Girl Guiding UK, ATC and Solihull School.
