A blind man walks in to a department store with his seeing eye dog on a leash. As usual the store manager behind the customer service counter looks up, notices the customer is blind, and not wanting to stare quickly looks away again. Out of the corner of his eye the manager sees the blind man start swinging the dog over his head with its leash. Shocked, the manager runs over and says “Mister is there a problem - is there anything I can help you with?” The blind man calmly replies “No thanks - I’m just looking around.” This duck walks into a convenience store and asks the clerk, “Do you have any grapes?” The clerk says no, and the duck leaves. The next day, the duck returns and asks, “Do you have any grapes?” The clerk again says no, and the duck leaves. The day after that, the duck walks in the store again and asks “Do you have any grapes?” The clerk screams at the duck, “You’ve come in here the past two days and asked if we had any grapes. I told you no every time that we don’t have any grapes! I swear if you come back in here again, and ask for grapes, I’ll nail your webbed feet to the floor!!” The duck left, and returned the next day. This time he asked, “Do you have any nails?” The clerk replied, “No,” and the duck said, “Good! Got any grapes?”

Useless Information RIDING BIKES IN CAPE MAY CO. Every morning I hike myself out of bed and jump on my bike for a morning ride along Beach Drive next to the Delaware Bay. I always try to make it for the 7:30 departure of the Cape May – Lewes Ferry. Very majestic! Especially with the sun shining on the bow with passengers leaning over the side catching the sights of Douglas Park on the right and Higbee’s Beach on the left. I sit and watch them and wonder where they’re going, business or pleasure, etc. Similar to watching people in an airport. Lower Cape May County is a special place during the spring, summer and fall seasons. The winter, well, is winter, not much to say about that. We go to Naples, FL several times a year and marvel at the beautiful flowers and foliage, the manicured highways, etc., then we have to come back to the bleakness of winter in Cape May County. But the other seasons are fabulous, especially for walkers and bicyclists. The ride along Beach Drive is especially nice . . . with walkers and joggers sharing the road with us bicyclists. Sailboats, commercial fishing vessels, party boats and pleasure boats going through the Cape May Canal. Hey, Cape Cod has nothing on Cape May County. The Cape May Promenade and the Wildwood Boardwalk also offer excellent opportunities for top notch biking and jogging. Both North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest have extended the Boardwalk with beautiful bike paths. Very nice. The sights and sounds of the Wildwood Boardwalk are always interesting. So get that bike out of the garage and take a spin around the county. Great exercise and great views guaranteed!!

CAPE MAY STAGE

Peg and I had the pleasure of seeing Jarrod Spector at the Cape May Stage on Monday night. What a terrific show!! Jarrod Spector plays Frankie Valli in the broadway stage production of Jersey Boys. He sang a wide variety of songs (nothing from Jersey Boys) and it showed his wide range of musical abilities. Terrific show! He also shared a few of his experiences along his career that began, believe it or not, at age 3, how he got the gig as Frankie Valli, etc. I asked the creative director Roy Steinberg how he got such a huge broadway star to perform in such a small venue as Cape May Stage. He just winked and said, “I know people.” Keep up the good work.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing. UNKNOWN

WHO KNOWS WHAT A LEXIPHILE IS? I didn’t either, but a Lexiphile is sort of a play on words (i.e., “lovers of words” you know . . . . like . . .. you can tune a piano, but you can’t tuna fish . . . or, I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger . . . . then it hit me, etc.). Well, here are some for you to enjoy . . . To write with a broken pencil is . . . pointless. When fish are in schools they sometimes . . . take debate. A thief who stole a calendar . . . . got twelve months. When the smog lifts in Los Angeles . . . . U.C.L.A. The professor discovered that her theory of earthquakes . . . . was on shaky ground. The batteries were given out . . . free of charge. A dentist and a manicurist married. . . . . They fought tooth and nail. A will is a . . . dead giveaway. If you don’t pay your exorcist . . . you can get repossessed.

SPEEDING TICKET

A police officer stops a Smogarian woman for speeding and asks her very nicely if he could see her license. She replied in a huff, “I wish you guys would get your act together. Just yesterday you take away my license and the today you expect me to show it to you!”
