The preservation of approximately half of the land in Wilden as open green space and parkland is integral to the master plan. Blenk Development Corporation has made significant environmental investments, especially in wetland enhancement. The green wildlife corridors in Wilden are linked to surrounding greenbelts, providing safe passage for deer and other wildlife.

WILDEN’S BACKCOUNTRY: A WILD PIECE OF LAND Miles of hiking trails run through forests, alongside beautiful ponds and up to Wilden Ridge with its breathtaking views of Okanagan Lake and the Glenmore Valley. There is plenty of wildlife in Wilden and you can read about the different species in the nature blog on www.wilden.ca. While the developer of Wilden invites residents to enjoy the tranquility of Wilden’s natural space, there are also signs to remind everyone that they are entering private land at their own risk. The area is monitored closely through cameras and patrolling. Motorized vehicles and fires are strictly forbidden year round.

Visitors are asked to stay on the trails and be mindful of the vulnerability of the area to fires.

MAINTAINING THE WILDERNESS Wilden is following a step-by-step fire mitigation plan. Every year starting in early fall and continuing all through the winter, trees are thinned out, underbrush is removed and access for firefighters optimized. With these actions Wilden not only lowers the danger of fires spreading, but also improves the health of the forest. Spacing out the trees allows them to gather more nutrients and become more resilient.
