Laura’s Holstein Letters Hello all my fellow Holstein enthusiasts! I am Laura Finley, your new WHA Princess for 2012! I am from Lake Mills, Wis., in Jefferson County and I currently have four Registered Holsteins which is an accomplishment for myself due to the fact that I do not live on a dairy farm and rather house my animals at three farms across Wisconsin. I’m also honored to be this year’s WHA Princess being able to represent the association and the breed at such a personal yet professional level. The Holstein cow has always been close to my heart starting out with my first calf being bought when I was just a baby by my grand-

father Alvin Piper. If I had the chance, I’d thank him for bestowing his passion and dedication to the industry unto me. I don’t think he ever thought I’d take it this far but I’d have to say I’ve been pretty successful, recently winning the Winter Yearling Class at the renowned World Dairy Expo to now being the Princess! I recently just had my first official princess meeting with Chris Williams and the Princess Attendant Anna Blake. We had an overlook of what we will be doing in the next year and let me tell you, I am now more excited then ever to be serving as this year’s Holstein Princess! I’m looking forward to my numerous school visits I will have set up to meet with children in kindergarten to the 4th grade promoting our industry and stressing the importance dairy has in their everyday lives. Then the numerous District Shows, State Show, State Fair and of course my favorite week of the year... World Dairy Expo! To see what Anna and I are up to throughout the year, you should “like” us on Facebook at Wisconsin Holstein Association Princess and if anyone has any events or activities they think would benefit from either of our attendance, please let us know, we’re more then willing to come and participate in events or activities with our fellow Holstein members! I have a feeling that this year has a lot of opportunities ahead and more importantly a lot of FUN to be had in it!! Laura Finley
