THOUGHTS FROM OUR DIRECTOR
THE NEW WICOMICO PUBLIC LIBRARIES Five years ago, Wicomico Public Libraries began a new plan: build a new, modern library using the old library spaces. With the efforts of the staff, board, volunteers and Friends, and the support of the public and the County, the library created a new strategic plan and assessed almost every operational function of our organization. Here we are, five years later and that new library has emerged. Each quarter, as you read our newsletters, you see a library dedicated to service, a library that is innovative and accessible, a library whose impact reaches far beyond the walls of any building. We are proud of the services the public library brings to this community, many of which are the first in Maryland. These include our Cyber Civil Clinic, our new Student Virtual Card, and our upgraded Project READ. This is the modern Library, with services and resources available 24/7 through our robust online access. You can borrow eBooks, eMagazines, digital audiobooks, stream online movies and music as well as access over 45 databases. No longer defined by a building, Wicomico Public Libraries provide quality resources and information, and user-defined services that support learning, enrich lives, and build communities. We hope that you will invite your neighbors and friends to rediscover their library and why you belong at Wicomico Public Libraries. Andrea Berstler, Executive Director
