ANODISING - WHICH COLOUR FOR WHICH MODEL Powder coating is a process where coloured powder is applied onto the frame and afterwards melted in an industrial oven. That covers the frame with a durable plastic layer. In addition to that we also offer coloured anodised finishes. Anodisation is an electrochemical process in which a thin coloured oxide layer is formed on the aluminium surface. Anodised parts have a harder, more scratch-proof surface and a lower weight than powder coated or painted parts. The oxide layer is very thin and therefore it needs a bit more care because it can be pierced by stones and gravel. Whilst powder coating covers machine marks on a frame, tooling marks from the manufacturing process remain visible on an anodised frame. When welded frames or welded parts get anodised they can have different shades of colours because of the different alloys and the induced welding heat into the frame parts. Anodisation covers nothing. It displays exactly how a frame and its parts have been manufactured and the brighter the anodised colour is the more obvious it will be. As different colours require different sized baths, we can‘t unfortunately offer our hardtail frames in every available colour. Hardtails are too big for the bath. Full suspension frames can be disassembled and therefore don‘t have any colour limitations. The following list shows the availability of colours for the frame types.

PULVER ODER ELOXAL Pulverbeschichtet oder eloxiert - Du bestimmst, wie Dein Rahmen aussieht. Die Pulverbeschichtung ist ein aufgeschmolzener Kunststoffüberzug, der deutlich kratz- und schlagfester ist als herkömmlicher Lack. Die Eloxierung ist ein elektrochemisches Verfahren, mit dem die Oberfläche des Aluminiums gefärbt wird. Die Oxidschicht ist noch härter und kratzfester als jede Pulverbeschichtung. Zusätzliches Gewicht wird beim Eloxieren nicht aufgetragen. Allerdings kann die dünne Oxidschicht leichter durchschlagen werden. Mit einer Pulverbeschichtung oder Lack kann man Makel in der Oberfläche verbergen. Kratzer, Riefen und Werkzeugspuren kann man damit füllen und glätten wie Hautfalten mit Schminke. Eine Eloxierung verbirgt nichts, offenbart jeden Makel; je heller der Eloxalton, desto deutlicher. An geschweißten Rahmen entstehen beim Eloxieren verschiedene Farbtöne. Dies liegt an den hitzebedingten Änderungen im Metallgefüge vom Schweißen sowie an unterschiedlichen Legierungen verschiedener Teile. Eloxalbäder sind verschieden groß. Nicht jeder Rahmen passt in jedes Bad, besonders Rahmen mit starrem Hinterbau sind für manches Bad zu groß. Rahmen mit gefedertem Hinterbau passen zerlegt in jedes Eloxalbad. In der Liste siehst Du, welcher Rahmen in welches Bad passt.
