Students were able to earn money to support the music department by washing cars. “People would think that it was boring but, it was fun. It was really successful and at one point the cars kept coming continuously and [I think we washed] at least 200 cars,” said Lung. 6
4 Sophomore DANIEL YANG edits an essay for a student in his Maletz’s English 2 Honors class. “I felt that this peer editing helped me revise my essay and build confidence since I realized that some of my peers work aren’t so great either,” said Yang. 5 Sophomore STEPHEN NO attends DeShan’s French 2 party, which was held to allow students to have a break before finals week. “We were just able to slow down and enjoy life instead of building up stress,” said No. 5 Sophomore KADE BOSANKO presents on the topic of bees for the novel The Secret Life of Bees for Burke’s English 2 Honors Class. “What I really enjoyed about the process was just finding out about the scout bees and learning about them,” said Bosanko. “It was really interesting.”

This performance marked the last time for Color Guard and many other organizations to perform in the school year. “It’s definitely more nerve wracking because we wanted the freshmen to both enjoy our performance, and leave a really good first impression,” said sophomore CINDY ZHANG. Based on an orchestra, the Color Guard team used their winter guard show, which had won several competitions during the

I think it was our most impressive show,” said junior LINETTE TANG. This being the first time that the eighth graders were offered an opportunity to watch the Color Guard perform. “It’s sort of funny, because most of us saw color guard for the first time during orientation, but the seniors last performance is orientation. It’s just cool how it came in full circle,” said senior DANIELLE ESCAMILLA.

Varsity boys’ tennis moved on to quarterfinals, after dominating Newport and San Marino High School. “I played more seriously,” said junior Ethan Fong. “[I learned] that in our league, we may stomp everyone, but outside, we have much more competition and much more work to be put in in order to be successful.” Sophomore Richard Ong, who is in JV tennis, received a chance

The environment’s more intense,” said Ong. “After CIF, I feel like I’m not as good as I thought I was and I can always improve. I feel like I can work harder so I can do better next time I play CIF.”
