About our Unconventional Wedding Plans The #VivaLosGriffeths Wedding Tour!
aane and I both come from big, loving families - so when it came time to make wedding plans, the most difficult decision to make was WHERE to have the wedding! We both have elderly family & other people close to us that wouldn’t be able to travel - and it broke our hearts to think any one of them would be left out… so ultimately - we decided to break with convention and take our wedding on the road! 1st stop - Tulum, Mexico - where we were married by a Mayan Shaman in a mystical, ancient cenote. Only immediate family and my two best friends were present. Next stop - a “Romantic Mexican Garden” themed blessing ceremony and reception at the National Butterfly Park in Mission, TX!.
Since this was our second wedding event, we wanted everything to look different from what we had done in Tulum. It was very important to us that the look and feel of the event be entirely inspired by the natural beauty and heritage of the Rio Grande Valley. The ceremony was held in the garden area of the Butterfly Park, under the shade of native trees. Vibrant green vines ran up the pergola, wrapping our venue in organic decor - we didn’t need to add a thing. Except seating of course - which were lovely rows of hay bales covered with ivory fabric, gifted to us by Rio Grande Valley rancher Charles Anderson.
