The first match of the competition has been completed without any problems and I hope this is true for the rest of the matches. In first division Manawatu has made a good start with their double header although Martin Hunt always wants more out of his team. Eastern Force were happy with their performance against Waikato although Siggy wanted more bonus points to keep the points total up. Auckland had a win against Hutt Valley although it was close in the Open and Juniors. In Pool A, Alpine West have had a good start in their first Competition with a good win against Wellington who were the only team in this round not to put points on the board. Alpine had four of their shooters in the top scores this week so Pool A is going to be very close going by the scores that have been shot. Pool B has two clear leaders and Nelson and Wanganui will have to make the most of the next two rounds to catch up. Individual scores were very high at the start with four 300s and a 200 in the Juniors. Congratulations to Lindsay Arthur, Stephen Petterson, Roy Herbison and Bruce Cameron for their 300s and well done to Brendan Knight for his 200 in the Juniors. Usually we have very few 100.10s but this round we had three. Russell Henshaw shot his very first 100.10 and Gary Carlin shot his second this round after having shot his first only a few weeks ago, and it should be no surprise to learn the third shooter was Stephen Petterson.
