NFL Free Agency By Dimitri Hilas The NFL offseason is in full swing. Teams have made franchise changing moves in hopes to improve and make a championship push. But perhaps the team that improved most during this star studded free agency was the Chicago Bears. With the signing of Julius Peppers they improved their pass rush and could one of the most feared defenses in the NFL. With Brian Urlacher returning from injury and the various other defensive studs like Tommy Harris and Lance Briggs, the Bears addition of Julius Peppers makes the Monsters of The Midway a serious contender. The addition of Chester Taylor also gives the Bears a great third down back and someone who can spell Matt Forte, adding depth to their roster. Another NFC North team made a significant splash in free agency. The Detroit Lions made some decent moves in free agency by bringing in veterans Kyle Vanden Bosch and Nate Burelson. Van Bosch gives them a strong force on the defensive line and he could possibly be matched up with one of the stud defensive tackles in this years draft; Ndamukung Suh or Gerald McCoy. Burelson gives them a solid compliment to Calvin Johnson and a legitimate deep threat. In the AFC two teams made big moves to fill big voids on their roster. The Jets made the trade for Antonio Cromartie with San Diego. This gives the Jets two ball hawking corners and potentially the best corner back tandem in the NFL.
The other AFC team is the Baltimore Ravens. The trade for Anquan Boldin gives them the game breaking wide out they’ve needed for years. His toughness matches the Ravens hard nosed attitude. The Dolphins addition of Karlos Dansby and Jacksovilles signing of Aaron Kampman are also two big AFC signings. Each team gains a solid defensive veteran. While teams made great moves, there where also teams who worsened their situation. The biggest losers in this years offseason is defiantly the Arizona Cardinals. With the departures of Anquan Bolidn, Antrel Rolle, Karlos Dansby and Kurt Warner, the Cardinals have serious voids to fill. They pick up of Kerry Rhodes replaces Rolle, but they lose a chain mover in Boldin, a defensive captain in Dansby and a franchise quarterback in Warner.
