New York Knicks……Getting LeBron James? I don’t think so!
For the last couple of years there have been rumors of the New York Knickerbockers signing the best basketball player in the world, LeBron James. The Knicks have been clearing salary space the 2010 offseason to prepare for the best NBA free agent market in recent memory. The Knickerbockers have traded away many of the big contracts this season to clear more than 30 million dollars in cap space. The Knicks, who got off to a decent start, but are currently in fourth place in there division and are the third worse team in the eastern conference, with only a mere twenty wins. Mr. James’ current team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, is in first place in the division and the conference with a stellar fortyseven wins. As a Knicks fan I truly do hope that the Knicks do sign LeBron. But lets be realistic here people. It’s not happening! The buzz around the New York basketball scene for the last couple of years has been “Oh, don’t worry about the Knicks in 2010 we’ll get LeBron”. But my question is why would LeBron leave the best team in basketball to go to one of the worst? Simply because the Knicks are in New York and they could give him a lot of money? But the king has already announced that all he wants to do is win a championship and will go to whatever team will give him the best shot at it. Sounds like Cleveland to me. LeBron likes the idea of New York and has been flirting with it a long time now. He is always seen hanging out in New York with good friend and hiphop artist, JayZ. Which people also think is another reason for why the king will land in New York in the 2010 offseason. Also he has stated that he loves the city. Another reason people have stated is because he is good friends with Yankees ace CC Sabathia and was seen wearing a Yankee hat at a playoff game in Cleveland, where the Yankees played the Indians. But these reasons do not outweigh his love for his home town and a winning team. He basically two inches away from winning a championship and would not want to wait for the Knicks to rebuild there team again. He had to do it
when he first entered the league out of high school and was drafted to a failing Cavaliers team. Another reason is because no matter how much money the Knicks offer Mr. James I guarantee you that the Cavs will match it. He is already a millionaire and recently has been declared a billionaire. How much money does this guy need? He isn’t Latrell Spreewell and does not need that much to “feed his kids”. I highly doubt he would take money over winning, even if the Knicks offered him part ownership and the New York Islanders. Now I know I have been very negative this whole article but I don’t think Knicks presidents Donnie Walsh’s plan will fail completely. I do believe that with the cleared cap space the Knicks will sign some big name free agents. My predictions they will sign Toronto’s Chris Bosh and Atlanta’s Joe Johnson. Also I predict that they will resign there two only big names on the team currently, David Lee and Tracy McGrady. With this team they should be able to make there first playoff appearance since 2001. But I doubt they will get past the king and the Cavs. So just get the idea out of your mind, LeBron is not going to become a Knick anytime soon. You got a better chance of President Obama becoming against healthcare reform.
