HONEYBLOOD RELEASE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “BABES NEVER DIE” + ANNOUNCE BIGGEST TOUR YET FOR SPRING 2017 Glasgow two-piece Honeyblood - frontwoman Stina Tweeddale and drummer Cat Myers are back with the video to their electrifying single “Babes Never Die.” The single is taken from their critically acclaimed and heavily buzzed sophomore album Babes Never Die which is out now on Fat Cat Records.  Shot across their recent world tour, the video includes footage shot by many different photographers and fans, capturing the duo’s incendiary live performances, as well as behind-the-scenes snippets from the band’s own tour diary. It perfectly captures the raw intensity of their live show as well as a glimpse into the world of Stina and Cat backstage and touring. It’s released as the band announce their biggest ever tour to date, starting in Australia via Asia, and working their way back across 30 dates to their biggest headline show yet at London’s legendary Koko on 16th June. Commenting on the video, Honeyblood’s Stina says; “This video has such a special significance to us. It was filmed over three months of shows throughout the US and UK. It’s a real snapshot of that tour and what it’s like for us on the road. Most of the travel and backstage footage was filmed by Cat and I on our phones. However, we could not have made it without great folk getting involved and filming at the shows!”

You can catch Honeyblood locally at Exeter, Phoenix on 2nd May 2017 Tel: 01392 667080

What if you really REALLY loved your part time job? But, what if it didn’t pay enough? Well then you might just be in Wheatus.

It’s a special time for music; not too much of it sticks and when it does well, it usually isn’t everyone’s cuppa. “We really don’t run into people who don’t like “Dirtbag,” including us, Wheatus frontman, producer & songwriter Brendan B Brown says. It seems that Wheatus do indeed still love playing their multi-platinum, ubiquitous 2001 classic “Teenage Dirtbag.” It has not been an easy go for Brown & crew. They scraped recording & touring budgets together by selling last year’s gear on e-Bay. “It’s an interesting paradox that people won’t buy music, but they still buy the stuff to make it and that we can carry on that way. Together, we found a way forward. I still can’t believe it started fifteen years ago though… That’s hard to imagine for a song that continues to be renewed. We owe a debt to that debut album and to the people who remember us. Now lemme get back to rehearsal so we can get it right!” So yes, at least one band from before the days of iTunes & Spotify have found a way forward... And forward they come, with their own headline UK & Irish club dates too, where they will play their entire million-selling eponymous debut album plus songs from their 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th, 6th & 7th albums as well.

You can catch Wheatus locally at The Venue, Torquay on 13th May 2017 TEL: 01803 213903

CHAGSTOCK FESTIVAL 2017 ‘The Best Little Festival in The South West’

Headlined by The Shires and Soul II Soul CHAGSTOCK 2017 THEME TO BE ‘SPIES AND DOLLS’, IN HONOUR OF ORGANISER SI FORD’S MOTHER, THE ORIGINAL ‘MISS MONYPENNY’ WHO PASSED AWAY LATE LAST YEAR. Chagstock - “The Best Little Festival in The South West”, returns in 2017 with their biggest and best ever line up. Taking place on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd July, Chagstock Festival will once again showcase the very finest music, food and entertainment from the Westcountry and beyond.  Set in 70 acres of farmland on the edge of Dartmoor, Chagstock is renowned for its stunning location, diverse line-up of artists and non-corporate, family friendly atmosphere. Chagstock showcases the very best music, food and entertainment that the Westcountry and the UK have to offer. Starting life as a small private party, Chagstock has now grown into a major fixture on the Westcountry festival circuit, selling out all 5,000 tickets for the last four years in succession.  Chagstock 2017 is headlined by The Shires and Soul II Soul   Hailing from the Home Counties, The Shires made music history by becoming

the first UK country act to score a Top 10 album. The duo are at the forefront of the British country movement and the runaway success of recently released album ‘My Universe’ has made them not just the fastest selling UK country artist ever, but one of the biggest-selling breakthrough UK acts of any genre in recent years. Soul II Soul need little introduction. Best known for timeless classics ‘Back To Life’ and breakthrough smash hit ‘Keep On Movin’, they’ve sold over 10 million albums, performed live in over 20 countries, and headlined some of the most famous venues in the world. They’ve been recognised throughout their 29year career, winning 2 Grammies and being nominated for 5 Brits. Friday night Marquee Stage headliners Slamboree are more than just a collection of musician; they are (almost certainly!) the world’s first ‘Pyro-Circus Rave Massive’ act. Fusing high octane, fire-breathing circus performance with music that can be best described as ‘traditional Balkan folk crossed with full on wobbly

bassline rave’, they are not to be missed! High energy six-piece British folk band Skinny Lister headline Saturday night on the Marquee Stage. They have released three critically acclaimed albums and their infamous live show has blown away audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. In the UK they have performed at virtually every major festival, including Glastonbury and Isle Of Wight, and USA highlights including joining the Vans Warped Tour and appearances at both SXSW and Coachella. Also featured on the bill is Raghu Dixit, who’s music is a seamless weaving of Indian ethnic folk, Sufi and classical with other traditional and contemporary influences from across the globe. His unique songwriting and vocal delivery have earned him a treasured place in the both the traditional and contemporary Folk & World music scenes.  Led by indefatigable southLondoner Barry Ashworth, The Dub Pistols have lived every

Yet they have worked with heroes like The Specials, Busta Rhymes, Madness and Gregory Isaacs and in this, their 20th Anniversary year, they are busier than ever.

THE SMASH HIT UK MUSICAL THEATRE SENSATION WRITTEN BY CAROL HARRISON ANNOUNCES SECOND MAJOR UK TOUR FROM MARCH 2017

ALL OR NOTHING, the new Small Faces musical sensation, will tour the UK in 2017 on its second major outing. The show opened to critical acclaim and nightly standing ovations at the Vaults Theatre in London in March 2016 and extended its sold-out run before embarking on its first UK tour, opening at The Hawth Crawley and playing through to November at venues including the Manchester Opera House, Theatre Royal Norwich and the Rose Theatre Kingston, with its final performance at the Forum Theatre in Billingham. The second UK tour kicked off in Chelmsford at the Civic Theatre on 29 March 2017 before taking to the road and visiting venues including the New Alexandra Theatre Birmingham, Theatre Royal Glasgow, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Rose Theatre Kingston, Hall for Cornwall, Churchill Theatre Bromley and Theatre Royal Brighton (full list in Listings Information). Written by the award-winning actress Carol Harrison,

ALL OR NOTHING tells the electrifying yet bittersweet tale of Kenney Jones, Ian McLagan, Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriott; four charismatic young kids from East London with humour, attitude, passion and above all talent. They became The Small Faces and were rocketed into the big time, only to discover the path to fantastic success is paved with exploitation, betrayal and ultimately tragedy. ALL OR NOTHING celebrates the unique sound of the iconic Mod band.  The musical is packed full of all the timeless hits, including the brilliant Whatcha Gonna Do About It, Tin Soldier, Lazy Sunday, Here Comes the Nice, Itchycoo Park and of course All or Nothing.

The sharpest Mod of all was known as a ‘face’. The Small Faces encapsulated all that is Mod, a unique blend of taste and testosterone, neat, clothes obsessed, and streetwise. But these cult sophisticates shared another passion, their dedication to ‘Rhythm and Blues.’ The show is endorsed and supported by many of those who feature in its story, including singer P.P. Arnold and Steve Marriott’s daughter Mollie Marriott, who is the show’s vocal coach.

In 1964, a new phenomenon exploded on to the dingy British streets. It was the essence of all that was cool. It was Mod. Mods stuck two fingers up at the class-ridden society and its dull redundant culture. They were workingclass free spirits who rode sexy streamlined Italian Vespas or Lambrettas.

Magic of the Stars REVIEW by S. Powdrill

“A Triumph” One comes to expect the seasonal show at the Babbacombe Theatre cannot possibly be as good, let alone better than the last one. How wrong was I? This new show really does exude variety at its best. With a kaleidoscope of colour on set, wonderful orchestrations with slick and sassy choreography, a dynamic cast, all working in harmony, Magic of the Stars is by far my favourite to date! Headlining act, Steve Laister what a showman. He had the audience in the palm of his hand. At one point, he had a full house literally swaying backwards, forwards and sideways with their arms in the air and what’s more, kept us all in unison. With his numerous characters and original material, it does make you wonder why we have not seen Steve Laister on our television screens? After Steve’s comedy antics, it is with a degree of relief to have some respite with the wonderful musical numbers interspersed throughout this show, my ribs needed a break! There were many highlights, but one that stood out for me, was when the Rock Starz, 6 youngsters, were performing Matchstalk Men. A poignant scene, wonderfully executed by all involved. The children demonstrated great emotion in this skit, they then went on to rock the stage, quite literally, with an excerpt from the hit show, School of Rock with an

infectious enthusiasm. Wayne ‘Champagne’ Martin had the role of Mr Schneebly, he proved too his versatility. His Benny Hill sketch deserves a mention, it was like I was whisked back to the 1970’s as his portrayal of this iconic comedian was so realisticis there any call these days for a Benny Hill tribute act? No show is complete without a leading lady, Magic of the Stars, has two! Both with voices that not only complement one another, but individually leave you in awe of their vocal prowess. Lindsey Collard, sings Shania Twain, Karen Carpenter and Caro Emerald and all seem to sound very like the original, whilst Lindsey is clearly not a mimic, she is adept at her craft. Gail- Marie, radiates sincerity with every note she sings. Her professionalism and stagecraft are evident for all to see. International illusionist, Daniel Dean brings panache and mystery to the stage. He not only conjures up gasps of delight during the production numbers but as you marvel at his two stunning illusions, which are performed with flair and finesse, with Danze Magique ably assisting, you must wonder is it an illusion or is it really MAGIC!!

As I said previously, there are many highlights to this show and Colin Matthews, the shows Director & Producer, must have a sixth sense about what his audiences want to see and hear. As the cast sang Vaults of Heaven, the audience are mesmerised! Congratulations Mr Matthews, on this triumph. I know that everyone will have their own highlight, but clearly with so many wonderful magical, comedic and musical moments, one must take a moment to give full credit to the dancers, Danze Magique who are on stage for much of this show, heaven knows how many quick changes they got through but their enthusiasm and ability knows no bounds. Girls, I salute you! Babbacombe Theatre, Torquay. Magic of the Stars. Tuesdays & Wednesdays until 19th October 8.15pm. Matinee: Wednesday 23rd August 2.30pm

Home to England’s highest waterfall, descending a staggering 220ft, Canonteign Falls is a breathtaking Devon attraction, and a wonderful day out for all the family. Canonteign Falls is a hidden gem and one of the most idyllic places to see and explore with children. Perfect for outdoor adventure, our children’s play area and children’s assault course will keep the little ones happy, and our lakeside café, snack bar and gift shop will ensure that your every need is catered for.

Situated within Dartmoor National Park in the heart of Devon’s Teign Valley, the waterfalls tumble down ancient rock formations to meet the lakes below, offering some of the most spectacular waterfall and ancient bluebell woodland scenery in Devon. A breathtaking sight, described by one visitor as “one of the most magical places on earth ”, wildlife thrives in the peace and tranquillity that makes the Falls a haven for both adults and children. Well-marked pathways take you on three scenic walks, suitable for varying ages and abilities. Our Victorian fern garden at the top of the Falls is a magical hidden treasure of Victorian landscaping. We have seven interconnecting lakes. The main Lily Lake has a central island with beautiful purple flowering rhododendrons and provides safe cover for the many Mallard ducks and Canada geese. Clearing of trees has been undertaken at the Falls end of the lake and visitors can now enjoy much enhanced views whilst walking around it. The six lower lakes are linked up with grassy walks and bridges. Planting combinations of fox dogwood, acers, gunnera and pampas grass provide year round texture and colour. Taking the path leading to the wetlands and lower lakes is one of the most fascinating nature walks in Devon, giving you the opportunity to spot kingfishers, bats, butterflies, wildfowl, dragonflies and our pair of black swans, Dame Margot and Rudolph. The Canonteign bees have an idyllic corner in the old orchard where they busy away making delicious honey. Honey harvesting is done on site and our fresh honey is on the shop shelves usually within 48 hours of collection from the hives. The Pirate Ship climbing structure within the large play area offers rock hold walls, a fireman`s pole and pull up ramps or children can go below deck and create a den. So gather up your treasure chests “me hearties” and let’s set sail! You can even add to the fun with pirate hats and other related items available from our shop. Café Our menu offers locally made filo pastry pies, homemade soups, ploughmans, freshly cut sandwiches and jacket potatoes: a wonderful feast for weary and hungry walkers! And why not enjoy a delicious latte or cappuccino made with freshly ground Italian coffee and a slice of one of our delicious homemade cakes or perhaps a traditional Devon Cream Tea after your walk? The Gift Shop at Canonteign is situated in the original farm buildings of Canonteign Estate in what was most likely the milking parlour. This season we have a whole new range of stock showcasing unusual and imaginative gifts for all the family, many of which are made locally. These include some stunning new pottery, turned wooden gifts, ornaments, jewellery, pretty scarves and colourful bags, wooden and educational toys, gardening gifts, soaps, ornaments and our new men’s range! Our branded merchandise includes Canonteign Falls tea towels, bags, mugs and prints. We also sell Becky Bettesworth prints, and a range of chocolates, fudges, jams and chutneys from all over the West Country: delicious!
