knowing I can trust them to let themselves in, treat my house with every respect and leave it secure, clean and tidy. The finished bathroom (pictured) is only about 8ft x 7ft but now looks and feels substantially larger because of the clever design elements incorporated by Padstone and the compact and efficient service installation from Ellwoods.
Anna Townsend Editor: What’s On Magazine
I recently contracted Ellwoods to provide all the plumbing services required to service my my new ensuite bathroom. All stonework and design was provided by Padstone Natural Stone Tiles who now have a new showroom open near Rye. www.padstone.co.uk The age-old advice of only hiring someone who’s been recommended is perhaps still the best advice and I would happily recommend both Padstone and Ellwoods Plumbing and Heating. I am confident to go out during the day and leave my home in their hands

Realization Is The Soul Of Invention That Rides On The Back Of Ability What’s that, I hear you say. Common sense says I. But there is none in regulations, I hear you say. No, says I, but they are there to control you. I will give you a basic example taking safety out of the conundrum:You search around on the internet and shops to find the most efficient wood burning stove. Little do you know that in reality these efficiency figures that have cost many thousands of pounds to produce are not worth there paper they are written on. Having spoken to government and DEFRA directly pointing out that every single home is different with flues of various heights and wood of miscellaneous origin. The testing house use an advantageous flue with specified fuels and re fueling times to benefit both manufacturer and the efficiency test. DEFRA told me the test was to give manufacturers a level playing field for testing. In fact common sense says the tests are a level lie. Any one that protects such a test is either ignorant or is part of the plan. Efficiency comes in many forms, most of which are not quantifiable unless it is an extreme case, like an inglenook fire opening with vast airflows passing through the house. Efficiency of design, needs to have the visual impact that you desire, making you feel good at every thought as you turn your hand to its easy and comfortable use. Efficiency of the stove is brought about by tuning in the aeration controls so that the stove lights brightly immediately, re lighting just as well from embers as it burns nearly all your wood to ash, before easy clean ash removal. The efficiency of fresh energy free cooking for fun or power cuts, certainly makes this efficiency of use. The new STOVEASY Retro Grate for your multi-fuel stove is now available and that is a REALIZATION as it does all these things without changing your existing multi fuel stove.

Roses, Radishes and Redcurrants at Pashley Manor Gardens The start of summer is a bountiful time for gardens; Pashley is hosting two special events this month to celebrate parts of the garden at their seasonal best. The first is the Rose Weekend, Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June. The fragrant, colour themed plantings of roses bloom in June and for these three days the Head Gardener will be leading rose walks round the gardens and there will be a great selection of Peter Beales potted roses for sale. The following weekend, Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June, the emphasis will be on food. The Kitchen Garden, hidden within its soft pink brick walls, is full of fresh produce and flowers and this weekend you can pick up practical advice on growing your own food and see how the produce from the garden is used in the café.

NEED MORE SPACE BUT CAN’T AFFORD AN EXTENSION? NFF log cabins are a fraction of the cost and many don’t need planning permission. They are an elegant addition to any home. If you are a therapist why not work from home? Log cabins make relaxing therapy rooms and save the cost of renting a clinic. As guest accommodation they excel and are an obvious choice for holiday lets or ‘teen crash-rooms’. They can have their own space and you can have yours.
Working from home has never been easier. Home office prices start from £1030 (inc VAT). How many BBQ’s get rained off due to the English weather? Invest in some NFF decking along with a pretty summerhouse and you can BBQ all year round. Beside a swimming pool it can double up as a changing room and chill-out space. NFF Ltd has a number of furnished show cabins on display at their Horam premises. These include an art studio/bedsit; a home office/therapy room; a teenagers’ retreat/sleepover pad, a relaxing summerhouse and a stunning Wendy House.

Wagyu Beef Burgers Wagyu beef ‘caviar of meats’ is back at The White Horse
Wagyu meat is highly sought after, but until now, only imported cuts were being served in select few restaurants. Full blood Wagyu cows have free range to graze the clover rich pasture at the farm between the Spring and Autumn months. Specific farming practices means the meat achieves the same eating quality as the Kobe beef of Japan. The meat has a distinct “marbling” – the effect of adding fat, and flavour to the joint. Fat is what holds all the flavour in a peice of beef and gives a lovely taste when cooked. The White Horse is the only place you can order pure breed Wagyu in Sussex. Harrods have long been selling the Japanese delicacy - also known as Kobe beef - at £200 per kilo. But now you can have a Wagyu burger and chips for just £13.95 at The White Horse.

Prosecco is the name of the grape that is used to make this sparkling wine and many of the best examples are 100% Prosecco. As this is a grape that is prized for its delicate flavours and aromatics, the wine itself is not made in the classic method made famous in the Champagne district of France. Rather, the Cremant method of sparkling wine is used to make Prosecco as the classic Champagne method would mean aging the wine for several years before release, robbing the wine of its freshness. Senlac Classic Car Show & Country Fayre Sunday June 16th 2013 For the past 20 years the Senlac Classic Car Show has stood out as one of the most enjoyable shows. Despite the focus on classic cars, the organisers strive to put together a show that is for the whole family. Dozens of stalls, children’s rides and games as well as charity stalls selling jewellery, books, toys and so on sit alongside the large display of vehicles. The 2012 show broke all records both for the number of visitors attending and for the number of cars on display. There was also a large commercial display as well as a very impressive display of military vehicles. The emphasis this year will once again be on the family with dads at the centre of the planning. This Father’s Day will be an opportunity for the whole family to take dad out; have him entertained by Lumpy and Lumpettes band and the Lindy Hopper dancers performing at the show; have him fed from the BBQ or the Indian take-away or the other food outlets,; buy him a pint at the well stocked bar featuring real ales and then let him browse the many stalls, auto jumble and gardening outlets before wandering amongst the interesting and beautifully turned out vehicles set out in the large recreation ground opposite Bodiam Castle. Ever conscious that family budgets are hard pressed, entrance to the show at £4.50 per adult, is half the price charged by many other local shows. All accompanying children (under 16) are allowed free entry. Entry price includes free parking. Apart from the show itself, a big reason to give your support is that ALL the proceeds are given to charities, both local and national. Organised by the Rotary Club of Senlac and sponsored by local firms, the show has raised well in excess of £100,000 for charity. It deserves your support.

DanceHouseUK It’s hard to believe that DanceHouseUK opened its doors to aspiring dancers and performers three years ago this September. “It’s true that time flies when you are having fun” Natascia Mazzucato, principal of DanceHouseUK said. “I am so proud in all that the school and students have achieved as well as the dedication and support I get from my team, students and families!” DanceHouseUK really is a family, as we take great pride and pleasure in each other’s successes and progress”. Natascia ex Elmhurst, Professional Dancer, and Legat Teacher of 9 years at Bede’s, opened DanceHouseUK in order to pass on her knowledge and experience to young hopefuls, to follow in her footsteps. “I want to see young people inspired and to develop a life-long passion for dance and the arts.” DanceHouseUK have a lot to offer with a very varied timetable of all dance genres; ballet, modern, jazz, tap, contemporary, classical Greek and street dance are all offered. Not only is DanceHouseUK approved by the Council for Dance Education and Training, but furthermore, DanceHouseUK is an ISTD Approved Dance Centre that offers DDI and DDE Teacher Training. “We aim to inspire and develop the best teachers around, with good solid technique and enthusiasm!” We also have a support staff including Life Coach Nicola Huelin-Vilar (01273 252 734) giving tremendous support to all individuals in reaching their goals in dance, academics and life! Another exciting innovation is that DanceHouseUK has an in house physiotherapist, Hannah Long (07557 416 366), who can help our students both prevent and rehabilitate any issues. Hannah specializes in dance physiotherapy, and completes her Masters degree this summer. Anyone is welcome to come along for a free taster session, and to enjoy all the good things under one roof at DanceHouseUK. I recently went along for a spray tan treatment at Salon 15 to experience the superb Crazy Angel tanning. I was really impressed with the eveness and colour of the tan giving me a natural instant bronze colour without any streaking. The tan didn’t have an unpleasant smell like some others and lasted about a week. The cost of the treatment was only £15 which seemed very good value considering the time it lasted. Crazy Angel creates a flawless, luxurious tan whilst nourishing the skin leaving it feeling silky smooth. It would be ideal for any occasion, particularly a wedding where you need to look your very best. I certainly would recommend Salon 15 and their Crazy Angel tanning.

Members of our staff team are specially trained in dementia care to deliver the appropriate type of attention and support to each individual in our home. We provide a number of opportunities for people with dementia to harness their happy memories and sense of self. Through music, creative activities, a reminiscence area with photographs and various personal possessions, we open up alternative ways for people with dementia to communicate and express themselves. Each of our residents has a beautiful private room all of which are en suite. Our wide range of food is freshly cooked by our own in house chef, and we are proud of our
landscaped gardens and patio areas, tea bars and lounges and welcoming other communal areas for people to meet friends and family. If someone you love has dementia, contact Helena Barrow, our Home Manager, who will be able to help you find out more about how we can help‌and care.
