The borough bands together for Mia Mia Strobel, a sevenyear-old student at Central Elementary School, has been battling leukemia and a heart defect for almost as long as she can remember. Recently she underwent a siblingdonated bone-marrow transplant. Mia’s family, classmates, and friends throughout the area pray that the transplant will prove successful. Extraordinary burdens – financial and otherwise – have affected the Strobel family as each member has focused energy on Mia’s treatment. A number of events are being organized to enable the community to support the Strobel family this spring: • Don’t miss the Play It for Mia Concert, sponsored by the local non-profit organization Play It for Good. The musical fundraiser will take place on Sat Apr 24 at 7pm at the Presbyterian Church. Performers will include Yonitte Ryger,

Music is on the menu at GIUMARELLO’S in Westmont. A popular pianist has tickled the ivories on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays since forever, but now patrons can enjoy bands and vocalists on Thursdays, from 7pm. GIUMARELLO’S now offers a $12 two-course lunch and a prix fixe menu Tuesdays through Fridays (5 to 6:30pm), plus an earlybird prix fixe dinner (3 to 6pm) on Sundays.
