DENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATES 464 Wolcott Road, Wolcott, CT 06712
Dr. Ezra Friedman received his dental training at Columbia University, College of Dental Medicine. After receiving his Doctorate, Ezra spent an additional year at Woodhull Hospital in New York, honing his craft. As a means of constant improvement, Doctor Friedman spends countless hours discussing and debating with top dentists all across the country. In addition, he takes hours of continuing education to be proficient in the latest proven techniques and materials. Known for his relaxed style and chairside manner, Dr. Friedman can often be heard singing while treating his patients. After practicing in New York City and Long Island for four years, Ezra moved to Connecticut with his wife and three children.

2 WHAT'S DOING IN WATERBURY
What a long way we’ve come since last summer, bH! The masks have come off, most restrictions have been lifted and the summer sun beckons. Whether you’re staying put or off to somewhere special, hopefully you’ll be spending some time in town because summer is a beautiful time of year in Connecticut. From state parks to biking trails, fruit picking to amusement parks, check out our summer vacation guide for more details on how to maximize family time this summer. If you find a new, beautiful spot or local attraction you think others would enjoy, please share! It is your feedback and contributions that make the What’s Doing a community magazine that everyone can enjoy and benefit from. What’s our #1 favorite column? The results of a very informal survey…the Community Commentary of course! It’s you we want to hear from, and you we want to represent. So go on and have a wonderful and safe summer and don’t forget to keep in touch!

COMMUNITY COMMENTARY Compiled by Tehilla Hoberman
When your 6-year-old gets to your phone in the process of setting up a meeting ...
‘I recently told my daughter that something was “off limits” and couldn’t be played with... A few days later I heard her tell her sister, “oh you can’t touch that, it’s flimmitts!” One afternoon I asked my kindergarten son how his day was and how the classroom caterpillars were doing. He replied that he is so excited for the caterpillar to turn into a raccoon.
My four-year-old - "Ma, do you know you have certain powers?" "I do?" I asked. "Yeah, ‘cuz you know when people are lying." On a night that I knew my husband was working late, my 5-year-old suddenly shouted “Abba’s home!” to which I responded “really? I don’t see his car in the driveway...” My 2-yearold, who was looking out the window with me turned to her older sister and said, “Are you telling the emes?!”
Before Shavuos my daughter said to me, “Remember when there was a thunderstorm on Pesach? Hashem was probably giving us the Torah then!”
Someone asked my two-year-old her name, and then asked her where she lives? To which she answered, "Kosher World!" How true!
Our neighbor has a dog named Misha and when the month of Adar came around my kids started dancing with her and singing, ‘Misha Nichnas Adar!’ A preschool Morah was telling her student no to something she shouldn’t be doing, so the student said to the teacher, 'You’re not my friend'. Another student heard the exchange and said to her classmate, ‘Morah is not your friend, she's your Morah!'
I went out with my daughter today for some special time together and I asked her, ‘who is your favorite person in the house and why?’ Within a second, she answered, ‘Maria is my favorite person in our house because she makes our laundry clean.’
Share a humorous or unique experience with us for our next issue. Text: 203-233-3417 email: email@example.com WHAT'S DOING IN WATERBURY 27
SPOTLIGHTON... Giving & Gemachim in Waterbury The list of community gemachim keeps growing and growing, a true testament to the generosity and unyielding desire in the kehilla to give to one another. Here is a peek at a few new gemachim in town that are ready to serve the greater Waterbury Jewish community. Please remember that items borrowed from any gemach are for short-term use and should be returned promptly.
Sorala’s Baby Gemach The Waterbury branch of Sorala’s Baby Gemach was inaugurated in 2014 by the Goldgrab family and after a short break is now making a comeback under the direction of Mrs. Fayge Freedman. So, what exactly is this gemach all about? L’ilui nishmas, Mrs. Sorala (Follman) Krigsman, the gemach was inspired by a chesed most dear to her - assistance with children. The gemach provides assistance for newborns and toddlers for whatever reason necessary; guests coming into town for a simcha, a preemie needing special equipment or even just new parents still deciding on a purchase. Naugatuck Valley Women’s Health Specialists
NAUGATUCK VALLEY WOMEN’S HEALTH SPECIALISTS is an obstetrics and gynecology group with offices in Waterbury and Middlebury, CT. Serving the greater Waterbury area since 1984, our office is known for its warm and personal environment, where every patient is treated with the greatest respect and consideration. Our team consists of five dedicated doctors, an experienced certified nurse midwife and PA. We pride ourselves in building strong relationships with patients and providing the most up-to-date, quality health care in gynecology and obstetrics. We are affiliated with Saint Mary’s Hospital, where we perform state-of-the-art surgeries and deliver babies. Saint Mary’s Hospital is also home of The BirthPlace – the only in-hospital birth center in Connecticut – and it is open to women with low-risk pregnancies who desire the most natural childbirth experience possible while having all the services necessary to respond to any emergency situation. We believe that a number of factors help to make our practice unique: ♦♦At NVWHS, we take a family-centered, holistic approach to healthcare. As part of our commitment to prevention, we have a clinical nutritionist in our office who will work with our patients on diet and lifestyle modification and targeted nutritional supplementation. ♦♦In recognition of our patients’ busy schedules, we offer early morning, late evening, and Saturday appointments.
♦♦All of our physicians are adept in advanced minimally invasive surgery. ♦♦Our group has always been at the forefront in supporting women who wish to attempt a VBAC. Saint Mary’s Hospital leads the state in the rate of successful VBACs. ♦♦Over the last 29 years we have delivered over 30% of the babies born in Waterbury. ♦♦Our physicians and staff welcome women with high-risk pregnancies. Our distinctive management of high-risk pregnancies in conjunction with the specialists at Yale University and the University of CT Health Center has a proven record of excellent outcomes. In addition, the neonatal intensive care nursery at Saint Mary’s Hospital allows many mothers and babies to receive superior care locally where many hospitals must transfer the mother or baby to another facility because of lack of specialized staff and equipment. ♦♦Our group is versed in the unique needs of our Orthodox Jewish patients. We believe the Orthodox Jewish community has added a wonderful dimension to the character of Waterbury. We relish the continued growth of the Orthodox Jewish community and look forward to continuing to provide care to orthodox women. Please visit our website at nvwhs.com to learn more about women’s health issues and preventive care and see the faces that make up NVWHS. To make an appointment, please call our office at (203) 575-1811. We look forward to caring for you!

Check out the picking calendar below as well as a large array of pick-your-own farms in ‘Places to Go’. A few pointers: • Before going to pick, always call the farm’s 24-hour hotline for the most up-to-the-minute crop and field conditions. • Ensuring the health and safety of their customers is at the forefront of every farm’s 2021 Pick Your Own procedures. Make sure to ask ahead about the guidelines at each farm and orchard. • Some farms provide containers for picking and while others don’t so remember to ask ahead of time. • Make sure to ask whether the farm allows ‘sampling’ during your picking time. This can be a lot of fun to do but some farms have strict rules against it. • Most of all, have fun!

"THERE’S A MISTAKE ON MY CREDIT REPORT" BY: RAPHAEL DEUTSCH, ESQ.
Everyone has heard about the importance of having a good credit score. Whether it is related to getting approved for loans, mortgages, tenancy, or even job opportunities – people want to know whether you are capable and have history of paying off your debts. As such, it is extremely important to ensure that the information on your credit report is complete and accurate. Fortunately, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) regulates how credit reporting agencies collect, distribute, and manage your information. The FCRA also gives people an avenue of relief when these agencies commit violations. Common FCRA Violations The FCRA’s underlying purpose is to encourage that your credit information is accurate and private. Unsurprisingly, many credit reporting agencies often make various mistakes on credit reports, causing people financial hardship – including loss of financial opportunity. Reporting inaccurate information is the most common mistake. This can happen in many ways, including:
• Reporting old (outdated) information: • Mixing files: This often happens when two people have the similar names and/or background information. One person’s credit file will then be mixed with the other, causing both to be inaccurate. When the credit bureaus or companies make these mistakes, the law makes them pay. For willful violations, you’re entitled to any actual damages that you are able to prove. There are also recoverable statutory damages from $100 to $1,000. Where an agency has negligently committed an FCRA violation, you may be entitled to actual, provable damages and your attorneys’ fees. In other words, if you have mistakes on your credit report, consult an attorney (me) – you may be entitled to money!
• Misstating due balances; • Reporting payments as late when they were actually paid on time; or • Misstating you as a debtor on a particular account when you were merely an authorized user. Raphael Deutsch is an Attorney with Stein Saks PLLC. He is located 5 minutes from the community and specializes in Consumer Protection Law, specifically litigating Federal claims under the FCRA (credit reporting) and FDCPA (suing debt collectors).
