A MESSAGE FROM MUSIC DIRECTOR YANIV ATTAR To My Dear Friends, It is with great joy that I welcome you to the WSO’s 43rd season. This will mark my 6th year as Music Director, and I am thrilled to continue our efforts to bring classical music to audiences of all ages with our new season! This season will be brimming with beauty, triumph, spirituality, and even a bit of humor. From Beethoven’s Seventh to Shostakovich’s Ninth, Dvořák’s “New World” Symphony to Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony, this season will include selections both familiar and less often explored, including the anticipated premiere of local composer Scott Henderson’s Cascadiana. We look forward to our next installment of the Harmony from Discord series, featuring the U.S. premiere of Cello Concerto (realized by Fabio Conti), written by virtuoso cellist and composer Pál Hermann and performed by cellist Clive Greensmith. This is sure to be a powerful and inspiring evening! We are joined this season by several magnificent soloists from the United Kingdom, Estonia, and Israel as well as a few homegrown artists from right here in the U.S. We cannot wait to introduce them to our corner of the world, and we are honored to provide a forum through which to showcase their spectacular talents. Having recently welcomed a new family member, I have been thinking more and more about how important it is to share an appreciation of music with our children. In light of that, I am overjoyed to announce that we will continue to partner with the Mount Baker Theatre to host our annual Educational Concert. This season’s Educational Concert was a great success, and I am thrilled to be able to offer this excellent event again next season. As always, your passion for preserving the music arts and your continued support of our orchestra makes it possible for us to offer this wonderful programming to our community. Thank you! I look forward to seeing you all from the stage!

POWERFUL. BEAUTIFUL. INSPIRING.

Musically yours,

BRAVO, MAESTRO! YANIV ATTAR IS A 2018 BELLINGHAM MAYOR’S ARTS AWARD RECIPIENT.

Classical for All Ages!
