WEATHERMAN P.S. KREIGH received a 30-year-length-of-servivce award from the weather bureau Friday. Ray C. Nelson, meteorologist in charge of the Springfield weather bureau presented Kreigh with the award. Kreigh began his weather forecasting career in Feb. 1937 as an assistant weather observer. Kreigh worked under West Plains weatherman, A.F. Day, until he took over the station here in Dec. 1945. Kreigh makes four weather observations a day, one in the morning, noon, evening and at midnight. Mrs. Kreigh has helped with the weather observation for the past 23 years. Kreigh said, “It is with pride that I have stayed with the weather observation all of these years. Shown from left are Ray C. Nelson and P.S. Kreigh. (June 27, 1967)

THE POLICE CAR DRIVEN BY Policeman Remal Jones was stopped at the spot where he could first get a view of the tracks from the south (on Howell Avenue). Note that the front of the police car extends over onto the tracks in order for the driver to see to the south. The Frisco Railroad was contacted by the Quill recently concerning installation of a crossing warning signal at this spot. A spokesman said that such warning signs are usually installed on a cost-sharing plan with the towns. The City Council will discuss the matter Monday night, E.V. Kell, city attorney, said today. Riding in the police car was Policeman Owen Huddleston. (Feb. 7, 1964)
