Issue: 19

Dear WA Community, I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas break. One of the many blessings of being a member of the WA community is we get to enjoy and share the "Good News of Great Joy" throughout the school year. As we look ahead to the remainder of the school year, I would like to share some thoughts about the direction of WA: 1. Appearance Code: Since the weather continues to be somewhat unpredictable and the buildings and breezeways can be cool with the drastic shift in temperatures, we will continue to be flexible about outerwear and allow jeans, boots and appropriate sweatshirts and sweaters to be worn for the week of January 11. At this time of the year, keeping our students and employees warm is very important to us. With this said, we do want to return to our uniforms the week of January 18, weather permitting. 2. 2010-2011 Tuition and Fees: As we announced prior to Christmas, we will not be increasing our tuition or fees next year. We truly appreciate our school parents and the significant commitment they make to have their children attend Westminster Academy. Thank you for entrusting your children and your resources into our care each year. We take this responsibility very seriously and we will continue to partner with you as we educate and equip your children in Jesus Christ and God's Truth. 3. Confirmation Process: Formerly known as the re-enrollment and registration process, the confirmation process will begin

on Friday, January 22. We will be sending you a letter in the mail and an E-news about the process prior to that date. We are streamlining the process to make it even more user-friendly this year. The confirmation process will take only a few minutes to complete online. For those who confirm their enrollment for next year early, they will receive a discount on their fee. 4. Family-Friendly Learning Community: We will continue to make a few adjustments this year, however, as we plan for next year, we will strive to be even more strategic in our scheduling of events and activities to protect and promote family time. We will be reviewing the amount and timing of homework and exams, as well as the amount and timing of co-curricular events, games and travel. As a Christ-centered, biblicallybased, classical comprehensive college prep school, we will continue to offer a wide array of learning opportunities at WA; however, we want to be even more sensitive about family time, especially during the weekends and holidays. 5. Seniors: I continue to be extremely impressed with the Class of 2010. From their spiritual maturity to their achievements in academics, athletics, fine arts and service to others, they have stepped up with their gifts and talents in so many ways during the first half of the school year. One of the most impressive characteristics of this senior class is their willingness to serve others. From school to community and church events, they are willing to volunteer their help and share their talents with no expectation of receiving anything in return. Because of their devotion to Christ and their dedication to excellence, we would like to add an additional privilege for the third quarter of study. For the next few months until Spring Break (end of March) we will allow our seniors additional flexibility with their hair length and styles. This would also include facial hair for the senior men. Like with any privilege we also expect that they would respond with a responsible attitude about this new opportunity to express themselves as they will soon be college students. In closing, we are truly blessed to be in a school community where God and sinners have been reconciled. This is indeed the Good News of Great Joy that we get to share with others every day at WA. As we continue to enjoy the blessings of being Alive in Christ and seek God's leading, we ask that you continue to partner with us. We would like to send a special thank you to all those who lift WA up in prayer every day. We would also like to thank all those who gave a year end gift. We truly appreciate everyone's prayers and generosity!
