Pastor Jerry - Dear Church Family: As we finish 2015 let us rejoice that this year has been another wonderful year of fruitfulness in evangelism and spiritual growth in our city as a result of the cooperation of our church family. As we end this year let us celebrate what the Lord has done through our cooperation and let us anticipate with joy what He is going to do in 2016 as we work together. Let us humble ourselves in gratitude before the Lord for giving us such great opportunities and for choosing our church family to be His vessel in our city. Here are a few of the highlights of 2015 so far! As you know, our small groups for discipleship and outreach are called Mission Teams. In 2014 we ended the year with 11 Mission Teams. In November we launched our 21st Mission Team. Our goal is to have 35 Mission Teams by the end of 2016. So far this year we have received reports of 64 salvation decisions as a result of our people sharing the gospel in our community. So far this year we have given over $12000 in financial assistance to the benevolent needs of our members. We have given over $40000 in financial assistance to other mission organizations. None of this could occur without the Lord’s blessing, the faithful service of so many laborers, and the faithful giving of our church family. Let’s specifically thank the Lord for blessing us with such a faithful group of elders and deacons. Let’s thank the Lord for our support staff. Let’s thank the Lord for so many faithful small group leaders and then all of our volunteers that serve so faithfully behind the scenes in a variety of ways. We cannot fulfill the great commission without each other. It is because of the Lord’s blessing and so many faithful men and women that the church of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God are expanding in our community and our city. It is a joy to serve with you!

Pastor Jerry

Current Sermon Series…

Jesus Revolution In our state, a revolution is forming against the supreme court’s rulings on baby murder and unnatural marriage. Many in Oklahoma are working on laws that would directly defy the supreme court’s decisions on these issues. As Christians, we support laws that protect the sanctity of marriage and life. However, we also understand that new laws will not change the hearts of men. Our nation needs a revolution much bigger than new laws. Our nation needs a Jesus Revolution that will change people’s hearts. Our elders want to encourage you to join us on Sunday mornings for the preaching of God’s Word. Deacon’s Diary On November 10, 2015 the deacons met to discuss a letter from our insurance company regarding some issues they found during an inspection of our facilities in late September. One of the more difficult issues was how to protect children from falling into one of the coat rack hangers in the hall way. We are looking at several ways that this may be accomplished. The more visual change that you will see is the addition of several lighted exit lights and emergency lights with battery back-up that come on when the power goes off. We are gathering cost data as this is being written. We will need to add more mulch to the playground area; we are making an appeal to wait until spring to add the mulch. The vent hoods and filters had not been cleaned in the kitchen in Building ‘B’. The cleaning companies usually notify you every 6 months that it is time to clean. However, our contractor had gone out of business and we missed last year. It was cleaned on Thursday, November 12, 2015. We are also planning on putting a guard on some equipment in the boiler room. For a facility this large and this old, we got a good report. As of this writing the A/C’s and boiler are working. We were able to help several families this past month with needs. Most were met by their Mission Teams. While working on the budget, several individuals have approached me and asked that we set aside some money for an AED (heart defibrillator). Please be praying about this request. Recently someone used the sweeper in Building B and either cut the cord or pulled it out of the sweeper. It was then put back in the janitor’s closet and no one was notified. The cord can be replaced, that’s not the problem. It’s very frustrating to plan on using equipment and it has been broken or thrown away. PLEASE NOTIFY the office if something you are using is broken. I want to thank all of the deacons, their families and others that give of themselves to make Western Hills Church a better place for our families to meet and fellowship.

For the Deacons, Paul Mac

Brandon Werner - A More Excellent Way In his writings, Paul goes to great lengths to explain Spiritual gifts (see 1 Cor. 1214, Rom. 12, Eph. 4). Spiritual gifts are part of our new nature in Christ. Just like we have natural giftings that others do not have, we also have Spiritual giftings that others may not possess. These Spiritual gifts are part of our new nature in Christ and are given to us according to God’s grace (Romans 12:6). As our faith increases, God may grant us more Spiritual gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:31 says, “Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way” (NIV). Paul encourages believers to never stop desiring more Spiritual gifts from God. Ask Him in faith!! But what is this “more excellent way” that Paul speaks about? Read The Love Chapter for the answer (1 Cor. 13). The Love Chapter is written in the context of Spiritual gifts! The “more excellent way” is love!! Spiritual gifts are like God-given superpowers. God intends for us to use these supernatural abilities, given by His grace, to demonstrate His love to others in ways we never could in our own strength. We exhort, lead, give, show mercy, serve, prophecy, teach, administrate, discern, heal, help, speak, interpret, shepherd, and more – not through our own strength, but as the life of Christ is lived through us by faith (Galatians 2:20). As the New Year approaches and you consider your resolutions, I urge you, church, to read these passages on Spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 12-14, Rom. 12, Eph. 4). Ask the Lord, in faith, to give you a greater portion of these gifts. As you receive Spiritual gifts, use them for their intended purpose – to love one another and to make Christ known. After all, Jesus said that it is by our love for each other that the world will know that we are His disciples (John 13:35). With Love and Faith,

Jack Clay - Christ Is King! As we celebrate this Christmas season may our hearts be filled with joy that our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In His love He came to this earth, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death, rose again the third day and now has ascended into heaven where He reigns over all. His coming again is eminent and we celebrate all these things at Christmas. He is more than just a babe - He is God incarnate, the Word made flesh. On Sunday, December 13, the Celebration Choir of Western Hills will be presenting a time of worship and praise to Christ the King. Our children's choir will be singing, our bell choir will be playing - it will be a great time of worship. Invite your friends and family members to this time of rejoicing. You won't want to miss this. It will be a great time to share the Lord with the lost and loved ones. Rejoicing with you at the birth of our King - Bro. Jack
