The Nick Ross Orchestra The Glenn Miller & Rat Pack Era The lights soften, the mood settles. An audience waits for that first moment of sound. The Big Band is poised, relaxed, but with eyes anxious for the lead. And then, as if giving body to an echo, the murmured notes of ‘Moonlight Serenade’… and the night, it seems, is suddenly full and timeless. There are those who watch and listen who tap a shy finger to the melodies, others who follow with a silent foot-beat, still others who murmur softly through the lyrics, and those who simply permit a fleeting smile. But common to all are memories. Recapture the sounds of a bygone era as the Nick Ross Orchestra presents ‘an unmissable evening of music and song’ – the Classic Big Band Sound of the 1940s & 50s.

Why it is so vital to book tickets in advance for a show. Making a commitment to print the Autumn line-up is a risk. Promoters, Artists and Venues across the country are keeping fingers crossed that once all restrictions are lifted on July 19th, audiences will return. At this moment, just staging a show is a gamble. Promoters are looking at the advance sales figures, as this gives us a clear indication on a show’s viability. This is why it is so vital to book in advance for your favourite shows. And you can book with confidence for our Autumn line-up as we will always refund your ticket if the show is affected by Covid issues.

Messa g e from the Manager Well, where do I begin? Thank you… is where I begin. The support and understanding we have had from the vast majority of our patrons has just been fantastic and has lifted our spirits during some very difficult times. And I want to thank all the staff (volunteers, Friends and Trust members) across the West Cliff Family who have worked so hard over the pandemic. Hopefully, the worst is behind us now and we can focus on dusting off all those carefully laid out plans that had to be put on hold in 2020 and get back into the swing of things. We have some great shows lined up over the Autumn season as well as a very busy diary for 2022. And I also want to thank the artists and promoters we deal with who have just been utterly amazing. Rescheduling whole tours two, three or even four times whilst remaining upbeat and good humoured has been so humbling. These people saw their entire livelihood vanish over night! Again, I salute you all.

For many of us, the pandemic has bought into focus just how important live theatre is for our wellbeing. Being able to stage nine performances in December 2020 was so uplifting. Seeing customers and staff back in the theatre was such a joy and reaffirmed for us all how important the West Cliff is for our community. So now we focus firmly on the future and your support has never been more vital. Please keep telling people about this wonderful theatre. There are exciting times ahead, plans to improve the venue and new shows and stars to welcome. As the Irving Berlin song says, ‘Let’s go on with the show.’ How right you are!
