Under the Alias Harry T. Buford, Velazquez fought at First Bull Run, was wounded at Shiloh, and served as a Confederate spy. But Buford was really Loreta Velzquez, a Cuban immigrant from New Orleans. October 23, 2017: Secrets of the Dead: Vampire Legend (DVD presentation) In 1897, Bram Stoker penned Dracula, popularizing the modern vampire myth. Perhaps Stoker wasn’t the first to write about vampires though. Secrets of the Dead: Vampire Legend looks at manuscripts dating back to medieval England long before Stoker’s Dracula was published. November 13, 2017: Hallowed Grounds: America’s Overseas Military Cemeteries (DVD presentation) Created after WWI and WWII, these cemeteries were established to honor the men and women who never came home. With short sequences about the wars and battles that make these hallowed places necessary, this DVD also shares moving vignettes and interviews about the men and women laid to rest in these peaceful places.
