I. 한국 입국 1. 입국 준비 (1) 입국일

장학생은 반드시 2009년 8월 28일까지는 입국하여야 한다. 입국기간은 8월25일 ~ 8월 28일이며, 국립국제교육원의 사전 허가 없이 입국이 늦어질 경우에는 장학생 자격이 취소 된다.

(2) 여 권 장학생은 한국 정부로부터 장학생 선발 확정 통보를 받은 후 개인별로 자국의 해당기관 에서 여권을 발급받아야 한다.

(3) 비 자 여권 발급 후 장학생은 주재국 한국공관의 영사과에서 한국 입국을 위한 비자를 신청하 여야 한다. 구비서류는 주재국 한국공관의 영사과에 문의하여 확인하고 비자발급 신청 시 국립국제교육원에서 송부한 초청장을 지참하도록 한다. 비자는 한국입국 목적에 따라 자격이 달라지는데, 한국어연수를 받게 되므로 단기체류비자 (D-4)를 받게 된다. ※ 장학생 거주국에서 한국으로의 직항이 없는 경우, 경유국의 비자도 발급 받아야 한다.

(4) 항 공 권 주재국 한국공관에서 장학생들의 입국 일정을 확인 후, 공관에서 항공권을 일괄 구입하 여 장학생 개개인에게 교부한다. 부득이하게 입국 일정이 바뀔 경우 장학생은 변동 즉시 한국공관을 경유하여 최소한 한국입국 1주전까지 국립국제교육원에 통보하여야 한다.

I. Entry into Korea 1. Preparation for Entry (1) Entry Dates You must enter Korea no later than Aug. 28, 2009. If possible, you are strongly recommended to enter Korea between Aug. 25 and Aug. 28. If you enter Korea later than Aug. 28 without prior permission of NIIED, the scholarship will be cancelled.

(2) Passport After confirmation of selection, you should apply for a passport by yourself at the relevant government office in your country.

(3) Visa After obtaining a passport, you should directly apply for a Korean entry visa at the relevant Korean consulate or embassy in your country. Along with the documents required by the consulate/embassy, please also submit your Certificate of Korean Government Scholarship to the consulate/embassy. If you have also received an admission letter from your Korean Language Institute, please submit this as well. Different visa status will be given according to the purpose of the entry to Korea: A short term visa (D-4) is to take a Korean language course. A visa for the entry of Korea is to be obtained only in the foreign country and not in Korea. Please note that you must hold the appropriate visa before you enter Korea. ” If there is no direct flight from the scholar’s home country to Korea, the scholar must also obtain a visa(s) for any countries they will travel through.

(4) Flight Ticket After you confirm your flight schedule with the relevant Korean consulate or embassy in your country, the Korean mission or NIIED will issue your flight ticket and deliver it to you. If you need to re-schedule your flight ticket, you must notice NIIED immediately through the relevant Korean consulate or embassy in your country at least one week before your departure.

<주의> ① 정부초청장학생 확정통보일 기준, 한국 내에서의 수학 등으로 한국에 체류 중인 자에게는 입국항공권을 제공하지 않는다. (지원대상자 여부는 국립국제교육원에서 결정한다.) ② 반드시 직항을 이용하여야 하며 직항이 없는 경우 최단거리 경유지를 경유하되, 개인적인 사유로 최단거리 항로를 이용하지 않을 경우에 소요되는 추가항공료와 현지 이동경비는 장학생 본인이 부담하여야 한다. ③ 국내이동 항공료와 입국 또는 귀국 여행에 따른 보험료는 장학생이 자비 부담하 여야 하여야 한다.

(5) 대학원 입학 지원 서 류 준 비 장학생 등록 및 대학원 입학에 필요한 서류 중 본국에서 미리 준비하여야 할 서류는 반드 시 확인하여 준비하고 입학 전형시 차질이 없도록 한다. ※ 입학 지원 서류(입학 전형에 필요한 서류는 반드시 본인이 준비하여 제출하여야 함) - 성적표(고등학교, 대학교, 대학원) 5부 - 졸업증명서(고등학교, 대학교, 대학원) 5부 - 추천서 5부(일부대학에서는 자체 양식에 의거하여 추천서를 제출함) - 건강증명서 5부(해당국 국립(종합)병원 발행 영어진단서) - 지원자 및 부모의 국적증명서, 여권사본 각 5부 - 지원자와 부모의 관계 입증 서류(친자와 부부관계 등) 5부

<Notes> ① The air-ticket for entry will not be provided if you are already residing in Korea on account of study or employment as of the selection confirmation date of scholarship students. (The decision on whether or not the ticket will be offered to you is to be made by NIIED.) ② You should make a reservation of a direct (non-stop)flight if available. If this impossible, however, you may fly via another country. However, it must be the shortest one from your country to Korea. Any additional air fare or other expenses for local flights or transportation which is to be spent in coming into Korea by way of a second country due to personal reasons should be borne by you.

③ The NIIED will not compensate fees for domestic travel as well as insurance while travelling to and from the Republic of Korea. These costs must be paid by the scholar.

(5) Preparation for Graduate School Admission There may be documents needed to apply for a Korean Graduate School that can be obtained only in the country of origin. Scholars must prepare these documents for university admission by him/herself in the home country before coming to Korea. ※ Application documents (a scholar must prepare the application documents by him/herself) Scholars should bring 5 original copies of each required document. - An official Transcript of grades for each level of school (Highschool, University and Graduate school) - A degree diploma for each level of school (Highschool, University, Graduate school) - A letter of recommendation (some university require their own form) - A certificate of health(Certificate of Health in English, issued by National hospital) - Proof of identity of you and your parents (such as passport, alien registration card or other ID accepted by the university) - Proof of relationship between you and your parents

3. 오리엔테이션 장학생의 한국어연수, 대학 진학, 장학금 지급, 학사일정, 한국생활 및 장학생지침, 한국 문화 등에 관한 오리엔테이션을 아래와 같이 실시할 예정이며, 장학생은 국립국제교육원에 서 실시하는 오리엔테이션에 반드시 참석하여야 한다. ◦ 일시 : 입국 후 소속대학을 통하여 통지할 예정임 ◦ 장소 : 입국 후 소속대학을 통하여 통지할 예정임

4. 장학금 지급 개시일 장학금 지급 개시일은 2009년 9월 1일을 기준으로 한다. 장학생은 2009년 9월 1일 이후 생활비를 비롯한 장학생 혜택을 누릴 수 있다. (생활비가 지급되기까지 약 10일간의 시간이 소요될 수 있다) 빠른 시일 내로 생활비를 지급받기 위해서는 한국내의 은행계좌를 만들고, 통장정보를 한국어연수기관에 알려야 한다.

(2) Registration as a Scholarship Student You must register at your particular Korean Language Institute as follows : ◦ Place : Korean Language Institute ◦ Period : At the day of arrival or next day. ◦ Required documents : Three color photographs (4cm×5cm) ※ If you purchased the flight ticket by yourself, you must bring the original ticket and receipt.

3. Orientation An orientation will be given according to the following schedule to provide you with information necessary for the Korean language training, application for admission to a university, payment of scholarship, Korean way of life, Korean culture and so on. ◦ Date : To be announced by universities after your arrival. ◦ Place : To be announced by universities after your arrival.

4. Scholarship Payment You will officially become a Scholar as of September 1st, 2009. You can begin receiving the Monthly Allowance (and other scholarship benefits) from September 1st, 2009. However, it takes approximately 10 business days to get the funds to you. In order to receive the funds as quickly as possible, you must open a Korean bank account (you can request assistance from the Korean Language Institute officer) and give the account information to the International Office at the Korean Language Institute.

Ⅱ. 한국에서의 수학 1. 한국어 연수 장학생은 입국 후 지정 한국어연수기관에서 원칙적으로 1년 이내의 기간 동안 한국 어연수를 받아야 한다. 경우에 따라서 NIIED에서 정한 기준에 도달하지 못한 장학생은 학위과정 진학 후 6개월간의 추가 한국어연수를 받을 수 있다. ① 한국어연수기관 : 국립국제교육원 지정 한국어연수기관 ② 연수기간 : 2009. 9. 1 ~ 2010. 8. 31 ③ 한국어연수비 : 국립국제교육원에서 각 한국어연수기관으로 직접 지급한다. ④ 대부분 대학의 강의가 한국어로 이루어지는 것을 감안, 입국 전에 한국어 능력 향상에 노력을 기울여야 한다. ※ 한국어연수 제외 대상자 : 정부초청외국인장학생 학사지침 제2조 참조(안내서 p.59)

2. 대학원 입학 및 수학 (1) 한국의 대학원 ① 석․박사 과정 : 한국의 대부분의 대학교에는 석사과정과 박사과정이 개설되어 있 다. 통상적으로 석사과정은 2년, 박사과정은 3년이며, 석사․박사과정 공히 4학기 이내에 과정을 수료하도록 되어 있다. ② 대학원 입학은 국내 대학에 개설된 일반대학원 및 대학원대학의 석사, 박사과정에 입학함을 원칙으로 한다. ※ 석사는 3학기 이내에 과정 수료에 필요한 이수학점을 취득하고 4학기때에 논문을 작성하며, 박사는 4학기 이내에 과정 수료에 필요한 이수학점을 취득하고 5 ~6학 기때에 논문을 작성한다. ※ 박사과정 수학연한은 대부분 3년이나 박사학위 취득을 위해서는 학술지 논문게재 요건 충족 등을 위하여 추가기간이 필요한 경우가 있으므로 입학 전에 해당대학과 충분히 협의하여 입학여부를 결정하여야 하며, 장학금지급기간을 초과하는 경우에 는 모든 경비를 본인이 부담하여야 한다. ※ 장학기간 연장 : 석사과정은 6개월간 1회, 박사과정은 6개월간 2회 연장 가능(정부 초청외국인장학생 학사지침 제25조~제27조 참조, 안내서 p.62) ③ 정규대학의 학문분야 : 인문, 사회, 과학, 공업, 예술, 체육 등 전 분야에 걸쳐 대 학원 과정이 개설되어 있으며, 한국개발연구원 국제정책대학원대학교와 같이 석․ 박사과정이 개설되어 있는 기관도 있다.

(2) 대학원 입학자격 석사과정에 입학을 희망하는 학생은 학사학위 이상의 학위를 소지하여야 하고, 박사 과정에 입학하고자 하는 학생은 석사학위 이상의 학위를 소지하여야 한다. 또한 일부 대학에서는 한국어능력, 또는 영어능력을 요구하는 대학도 있음에 특히 유의해야한다.

Ⅱ. Studying in Korea 1. Korean Language Course Before starting a degree course, you will get the preparatory Korean language course for about a year at the language institution designated by NIIED. If you cannot fulfill the NIIED language criteria, you may take an additional six months of Korean language training after entering a university. ① Language Institute : Korean Language Institute designated by NIIED ② Language Training period : Sep. 1, 2009 ~ Aug. 31, 2010 ③ Language Training fee : It will be paid directly to the designated Korean language training institute. ④ Most classes at the university are conducted in Korean. Accordingly, it is desirable that you should make best efforts to improve your Korean language proficiency before arrival. ※ Exception of Korean Language training : Please refer to the Regulation for KGSP Award Holders (guide book p.65)

2. Graduate School Admission and Study (1) Graduate Schools in Korea ① Master's and Doctoral Degree Course - Most Korean universities have curriculums to provide master's and doctoral degree courses. In general, master's courses take 2 years and doctoral courses take 3 years. It normally takes 2 years to complete the courses required for graduation for both a doctoral and a master's degree course.

② In principle, KGSP scholars admission to the graduate school is limited to Masters and Ph. D degree courses at general (and not professional degrees such as law, business, medicine or International Studies) graduate schools. ※ Students for a master's degree usually earn credits for 3 semesters and write a dissertation in the 4th semester, while ones for a doctoral degree earn credits for 4 semesters and write a dissertation in the 5th and 6th semesters. ※ However, doctoral degree courses may take more than 3 years to meet the requirements necessary for graduation. Accordingly, you are recommended to make a decision on your application to a university after consulting with academic advisors of the university. The expenses necessary for completion of your coursework exceeding the scholarship period should be paid by you. ※ Scholarship extension : Master's degree award holders may apply for a

six-month-extension of their scholarship period only once, while doctorate degree award holders may apply for a six-month extension up to a maximum of two times. (refer to the Regulation for KGSP Award holders, Article 25~27, guide book p.70) ③ Study fields in regular universities include humanities, social science, natural science, art and physical education. You may also take master's or doctoral degree courses in the Korean Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management.

(2) Application Qualification Students applying for master's courses must have a bachelor's degree, and those applying for doctoral degree courses must have a master's degree. According to some universities, they also require the minimum level of Korean or English language proficiency.

(3) 대학원 입학 절차 가. 자율지원의 경우 자율지원에 해당하는 정부초청 외국인 장학생의 대학원 입학절차는 다음과 같다. ① 자율지원 대상자는 대한민국 정부부처 추천자, 해외입양인, 문화협정 및 한국학 대 상자로 국립국제교육원으로부터 지정을 받은 자만 가능하다. ② 대한민국 정부부처 추천자는 부처가 지정한 대학 및 학과에 진학하여야 한다. ③ 지원서 제출 : 가을 학기 전형기간은 3월에서 6월이다. 해당 대학별 전형 기간에 맞 춰 장학생 개인이 입학지원서를 준비한 후, 국립국제교육원의 추천을 받아 해당 대 학에 직접 제출, 접수한다. ④ 입학시험 : 대학교별로 입학시험의 종류가 각각 다르나 일반적으로 서류심사와 면 접으로 입학을 결정한다. 입학시험 종류 및 면접 일정 등은 해당대학 입학담당부서 또는 학과 사무실에 문의한다. ⑤ 한국어능력 평가 : 일부대학교에서는 어학시험을 요구하고 있다. ⑥ 대학원 입학 : 학업성적이 저조하거나 한국어능력이 현저히 떨어지는 경우에는 입 학허가를 받기 어려울 수도 있다. 본인의 전공과 지원하고자 하는 과정의 전공은 일치하여야 하나 해당학교 지도교수의 허락이 있으면 전공과목과 유사한 학과에 진 학할 수 있다. ⑦ 대학원 입학허가 신고 : 대학원에 입학허가를 받은 장학생은 입학허가를 통보 받은 날 로부터 10일 이내에 한국어 연수기관장에게 입학허가서 사본 1부를 제출하여야 한다.

(3) Admission Procedures A. Unrestricted Application The admission procedures of unrestricted application for Korean Government Scholarship Students are as follows; ① Unrestricted applicants are those who are invited under one of the following conditions: - by a specific department of the Korean Government - under the cultural agreement between nations - by request of the Korean Foundation - as an Adopted Korean ② An applicant who has been invited by the specific department of Korean Government must go to the field or university designated by the inviting department. ③ Application Submission: Application period for a fall admission is from March to June. You should prepare the documents for application according to the application period of each university, and submit them with recommendation of NIIED to the university directly. ④ Admission Requirements : Admission requirements differ depending on the school, Generally, admission is determined by examining applicants' school records and personal interviews. For the kinds of admission requirements and their schedule, please consult with the person in charge of admission at the proper department of the university concerned. ⑤ Korean Language Evaluation : Some universitities may require language proficiency tests. ⑥ Graduate School Admission : Students may not get admission in the cases that the school record from previous degree courses is low and that the language proficiency is not good enough to study in graduate courses. The major you wish to take at the graduate school should be same as the previous one. However, you can choose a similar major if your academic advisor agrees. ⑦ Notification of admission : When you get admission from a graduate school, you should notify the Korean language institute of the admission by submitting a photocopy of an admission letter within 10 days after the admission announcement of the graduate school.

나. 위탁지원의 경우 위탁지원에 해당하는 정부초청 외국인 장학생은 반드시 국립국제교육원이 지정한 41 개위탁교육기관 중에서 선택하여 진학하여야 하며 입시 전형 절차를 거쳐 합격하여야 입학 할 수 있다. 대학원 입학일은 2010년 9월 1일이다. 위탁지원 대상 정부초청 외국인 장학생의 대 학원 입학절차는 다음과 같다. ① 한국어 능력 평가 : 장학생은 2010년 3월(예정)에 실시하는 한국어 능력 평가 시험 에 응시해야 한다. 시험은 국립국제교육원이 주관하여 하며, 시험 결과는 대학원 입 학 전형에 30% 반영되므로 한국어 연수에 성실히 임해야한다. ② 입학설명회 개최 : 위탁지원 대상 장학생의 대학원 진학을 위한 정보를 제공하기 위 해 2010년 4월(예정)에 입학설명회를 개최한다. 모두 41개 대학이 한 장소에서 대학 원 홍보와 상세한 입학 정보 등을 제공한다. 장학생은 모두 입학설명회에 반드시 참 석하여 자신이 지원할 대학원의 설명을 듣고 스스로 대학원을 선택, 결정해야 한다. ③ 특별 전형 : 특별 전형 기간을 정하여 각 41개 위탁교육기관별로 입학생을 선발한 다. 장학생은 모두 5지망까지 선택하여 대학원에 지원하고, 자신의 성적에 따라 원 하는 대학원에 입학하게 된다. ④ 전형 방법 : 입학시험은 한국어 능력 평가 성적 30%와 각 대학별 자체 전형기준에 따른 성적 70%를 합산하여 이루어진다. 대학교 별로 입학시험의 종류가 각각 다르 나 일반적으로 서류심사와 면접으로 입학을 결정한다. 입학시험 종류 및 면접 일정 등은 해당대학 입학담당부서 또는 학과 사무실에 문의한다. ⑤ 대학원 임의배정 : 특별 전형기간에 장학생이 지원한 5지망까지 지원한 대학에 모 두 합격이 거부된 경우 국립국제교육원에서 배정하는 임의의 대학원에 입학하여야 한다. ⑥ 41개 위탁 대학원에 희망 전공이 없거나 일부 대학은 경쟁이 심하여 입학할 수 없 는 경우가 발생하여 부득이 유사전공분야를 선택해야 하는 경우도 있다. 41개 위탁 대학의 입학 가능한 학문분야 및 학과는 안내서 P75 이하의 내용을 참조하여 입국 전에 정확히 확인하여야 한다. ⑦ 전공분야의 제한 : 장학생은 일반 대학원 진학을 원칙으로 한다.

<주의> ① 자율지원 및 위탁지원 장학생의 입학 결정은 대학의 고유권한이며, 대학은 지원자의 성적, 지원학과에 대한 지식 및 학업능력과 정부초청장학생 수용 정원에 의하여 입학 여부를 결정한다. ② 장학생의 최종 진학대학 결정은 국립국제교육원에서 한다.

B. Designated Application The students of designated application should apply for graduate schools among 41 universities entrusted by NIIED, by the separate admission process. The admission date is 1st of September 2010. The admission procedures of designated application for Korean Government Scholarship Students are as follows; ① Korean Language Examination: Students who finish the Korean Language course take a Korean language examination performed by the NIIED. The result of the test will be reflected to the admission grade of the graduate school by 30 percents. ② Admissions Fair: There will be a joint admissions fair of 41 entrusted universities to provide

indispensable chance to get the information and make a choice which graduate school you will apply for, so do not miss the fair. ③ Special Selection: Followed by the period of special selection agreed by NIIED, you apply for graduate schools among 41 entrusted universities. you can apply for up to 5 graduate schools. ④ Admission Requirements: Admission scores consist of the score of Korean Language examination (30%) and that of university exam (70%). Entrance examination and requirements differ depending on the university. Generally, admission decisions will be made on the basis of overall evaluation according to paper screening(applicants' school records) and interview results. For the kinds of admission exam and its schedule, please consult with the person in charge of admission at the proper department of the university concerned. ⑤ Random Assignment : If you fail to get the admission from all universities you apply for, you must enter the graduate school which NIIED assigns to you randomly. ⑥ If you cannot find your exact desired major among the 41 designated universities, you may need to choose a similar major. The list of 41 designated universities and available majors is on page no. 75. Students must check the list before their departure. ⑦ In principle, KGSP scholars required to enter a general graduate school.

<Notes> ① Admission (Selection of successful applicants by unrestricted or designated procedure) is to be decided by the peculiar authority of the university, taking it into consideration of applicants' academic records, knowledge of the major, academic performances and the quota for KGSS. ② Admission decisions of the university which KGSS will be finally enrolled at is to be made by the NIIED.

(4) 대학원 입학 후 ① 수학대학에서 정한 일정에 따라 등록, 오리엔테이션 참석 및 수강 신청을 한다. ㅇ등록 : 학비는 면제되나, 학생회비 등은 장학생이 부담하여야 한다. ㅇ오리엔테이션 : 학사에 관한 정보가 제공되므로 반드시 참석하여야 한다. ㅇ수강 신청 : 수강 신청을 잘못한 경우 소정기간에 취소처리하고 취소가 잘 되었 는지 확인하여야 한다. ② 출입국관리사무소에서 체류기간 연장, 체류자격 변경 등을 한다.

(5) 대학원 수학 ① 수업 : 대부분 한국 대학교에서의 수업은 한국어로 이루어진다. 그러나 일부 대학 교의 일부과목은 영어로 수업이 이루어지는 경우도 있다. ② 등록 : 한국의 대학의 등록은 학기 개시 2~3주전에 실시하며 정부초청 외국인장학 생의 학비는 면제, 또는 장학금으로 처리된다. 그러나 학생 자율적 경비인 동창회 비, 학생회비, 협동조합비, 도서관 이용료 등은 장학생 본인이 납부하여야 한다. ③ 수강 신청 : 수강신청은 학기 개시 직전에 해야 하며 만일 본인의 수강과목 신청이 잘못되어 취소하고자 하면 각 학교에서 지정하는 기일 내(대개 2~3주 이내)에 취 소하고 이를 반드시 확인해야 한다. 취소 처리를 하지 않고 수업에 참가하지 않으 면 동 과목의 학점이 F로 처리되어 문제가 발생하므로 수강신청 후 의문이 발생하 면 즉시 대학의 담당 부서 또는 지도교수와 협의 및 확인을 철저히 하여야 한다. <주의> ① 공지사항은 대학의 홈페이지를 통해 이루어지므로 정기적으로 접속하여 확인하여야 한다. ② 기타 의문사항은 해당 대학 행정실 담당자 또는 학과 사무실 조교에게 문의한다.

(6) 성적 대학교에서의 성적은 대부분 다음과 같이 학점이 표시되며, 대학에 따라 약간의 차이가 있는 경우도 있다.

(4) Following admission ① According to the schedule set by the university, you should follow the proper procedures necessary for registration and orientation. ㅇRegistration: Tuition fee is exempted. However, student association fee and others are to be paid with your own expense. ㅇOrientation: General information on academic affairs and study at the univ. is provided, so make sure that do not miss it. ㅇRegistration of courses: If you want to cancel a course, it must be done within the designated period. And check that all cancellation have been made correctly. ② You should apply for the extension of visa and for the change of visa status at the immigration office.

(5) Studying at the University ① Classes - Some departments in certain schools offer courses in English. However, most classes in Korean universities are conducted in Korean. ② Registration - ln general, students must register for the semester 2-3 weeks prior to the commencement of the semester. Korean Government Scholarship Students are exempt from paying tuition fees. Other expenses such as alumni association fees, student association fees, library fees, etc. must be paid by you. ③ Course Registration - Students must register for courses each term. If the student decides to cancel a course it must be done within the time allocated by each school (usually within the two or three weeks). It is important to check that all cancellations have been made completely and correctly. If the class has not been canceled correctly and the student does not attend the classes, a grade 'F' will be given at the end of the semester.

(7) 졸 업 ① 졸업에 필요한 학점 1) 석사 : 일반적으로 석사과정은 최소한 24~27학점 이상을 취득해야 한다. 2) 박사 : 36학점 이상 취득 ※ 전공필수과목 및 일반과목의 비율은 대학에 따라 다르므로 매 학기 지도교수의 지도를 받아 수강신청을 하는 것이 좋다. ※ 졸업에 필요한 평균평점을 유지해야 한다. 전 과정의 평점평균이 3.0 이상이어야 학 위논문을 제출하여 학위를 받을 수 있다. ② 논문자격시험 : 대부분의 대학에서는 졸업논문을 쓰기 위한 자격시험에 통과해야 한다. 이 때의 시험과목에는 한국어가 포함되어 있는 경우도 있다. 따라서 영어로 이루어지는 수업 만 참가하였다 하더라도 한국어능력을 갖추어야 졸업논문자격시험에 합격할 수 있다. ③ 논문 작성 : 학위논문은 원칙적으로 한국어로 작성하되, 대학 및 전공분야의 필요에 따라 부득이 외국어로 작성한 경우에는 한국어 요약본을 제출하여야 한다. ④ 논문 심사비 : 학위취득을 위한 논문제출시 논문심사비를 납부하여야 하며 이는 장학생 본인이 부담한다. 금액은 10만원~20만원 정도이며, 예술 부문(음악, 미술 등)의 논문 제 출에는 보다 많은 비용이 필요하게 된다. ⑤ 논문인쇄비청구 : 석․박사학위를 취득하여 학위논문을 인쇄한 자는 수학대학장에게 다음 각 호의 서류를 제출하여야 하며 학위논문의 인쇄비를 소정의 한도 내에서 청구할 수 있 다. 국립국제교육원은 50~80만원(실비) 1회에 한하여 인쇄비를 지급할 수 있으며, 논문 완성 후 필요서류를 제출 했을 때 지급한다. 1. 학위 논문 또는 연구논문 1부 2. 논문제출 확인서 1부 3. 학위논문 또는 연구논문 인쇄비 청구서 1부 4. 인쇄비 세금계산서 1부 5. 한국어 요약본(외국어로 논문 작성한 경우) 1부

(7) Graduation Requirements ① Scores and Credits

1) In general, master students must complete at least 24~27 credits. 2) Doctorate students must complete at least 36 credits. ※ The percentage of major subjects that must be taken varies for

each subject and

each school. Therefore, before registering courses and subjects, counselling with your academic advisor would be helpful for you. ※ The average score required for graduation also varies for each school. The student with the school record of less than 3.0 are not qualified to submit a thesis. ② Thesis Examination:Most schools require students to pass an examination before submitting their thesis. The exam may also include a Korean language test, even if all classes are taken in English.

③ Writing a Thesis:In principle, a thesis should be written in Korean. However, if the university or the field of major requires an English thesis, the Korean abridgment is to be submitted. ④ Thesis Review Fee:Most schools charge for reviewing the thesis. The fee must be paid by you. The cost is usually between 100,000 and 200,000 won. Art departments, such as music or fine arts, may incur more expenses. These expenses also must be borne by you.

⑤ Reimbursement of thesis printing fee : After printing the thesis, you can request to the university for the reimbursement along with following documents. NIIED supports the printing fee once, between 500,000 and 800,000 won (actual amount). It is offered only when you submit the required documents after thesis completion. 1. a copy of thesis 2. a certificate of thesis submission 3. a request application for thesis printing expenses 4. a receipt of the payment for thesis printing expenses called 'segeumgaesanseo' in Korean. 5. a copy of abridgment in Korean (If your thesis is written in English)

3. 장학금 지급 (1) 지급 기 간 ① 석․박사과정 : 1년 이내의 한국어연수 기간 및 석사과정은 2년, 박사 과정은 3년 간 지급된다. ② 장학금 수여기간 이내일지라도 석․박사 학위를 취득한 경우에는 장학금 수여기간이 종료된다.

(2) 지급 내역 ① 항공권 또는 항공료 : 최초 입국시와 최종 귀국시 한국과 당해국 국제공항간 보통 석 항공권 또는 항공료를 지급한다. ※ 국내이동 항공료와 입국 또는 귀국 여행에 따른 보험료는 장학생이 자비 부담하 여야 하여야 한다. ※ 정부초청장학생 확정통보일 기준, 한국 내에서의 수학 등으로 한국에 체류 중인 자에게는 입국항공권을 제공하지 않는다. (지원대상자 여부는 국립국제교육원에서 결정한다.) ※ 장학기간 내 중도포기자에게는 외교관계의 단절, 전쟁, 천재지변, 기타 국립국제 교육원이 인정하는 경우를 제외하고 귀국항공료와 귀국준비금을 지원하지 않는다. ※ 한국 입국 후 3개월 이내 중도포기한 경우, 장학금 전액(입국 항공료, 정착지원금, 생활비, 한국어 연수비 등)을 반납하여야 함 ② 생활비 : 장학생은 매월 900,000원을 지정된 날짜에 생활비로 지급 받는다. 생활비 는 수학대학교를 통해 장학생의 개인 계좌에 입금이 되며, 장학생의 개인 통장과 현금카드를 만드는 것은 수학대학(한국어연수기관)에서 도와줄 수 있다. 장학생은 현금카드를 이용하여 쉽게 돈을 찾아서 사용할 수 있다. ③ 학비(입학금 및 등록금) : 전액 면제 (입학금 전액은 대학에서, 등록금의 전액은 정 부에서 지원 한다) ④ 한국어연수비 : 기본적으로 1년 이내에서 지원 (한국어연수기관에 직접 지급) ⑤ 정착지원금 : 최초 입국시 200,000원 ⑥ 귀국준비금 : 최종 귀국시 100,000원 ⑦ 의료보험 가입 : 장학금 지급기간 중 질병, 상해, 사고 등에 대한 보험료(안내서 p.38) <주의> 학생회비, 동창회비 등은 장학생 자신이 부담해야 한다.

3. Financial Support (1) Duration of Scholarship ① Scholars will be provided up to one year of Korean language courses before beginning graduate school; then after being admitted and enrolled into a degree program, you will be funded for the subsequent 2 years for a master's degree program or 3 years for a doctoral degree program. ② Scholarship will end upon the day when you obtain a degree, even though this may fall earlier than the official scholarship termination date.

(2) Scholarship Benefits ① Airfare : NIIED will provide an economy class ticket from the international airport nearest your residence in your country to Korea, and thereafter, a return ticket of the same category to your country of residence after completion of the Bachelor’s degree program. ※ The air-ticket for entry will not be provided if you are already residing in Korea on account of study or employment as of the selection confirmation date of scholarship students. (The decision on whether or not the ticket will be offered to you is to be made by NIIED.) ※ The NIIED will not compensate fees for domestic travel as well as insurance while travelling to and from the Republic of Korea. These costs must be paid by the scholar. ※ If at any time a scholar wishes to cancel the scholarship and return home, airfare and other costs should be borne by the scholar and the Repatriation Allowance will not be granted except for the cases approved by NIIED (such as your close relatives' death, serious illness, severance of diplomatic relations, war and other natural disasters). ※ Any scholar who quits the program within the first 3 months after one’s entrance into Korea, must refund all scholarship fees immediately (The airfare of arriving Korea, settlement allowance, monthly allowance, Korean language training expenses, etc.). ② Monthly Allowance : You will receive 900,000 won per month for living expenses which will be deposited into your own Korean bank account. You can requesthelp from your university in opening your account and getting a cash-card. You can withdraw this money with your cash-card. ③ Tuition Fees : Under the auspices of the Korean government, you are eligible for a tuition waiver : the entrance fee is exempted by the host institution and the tuition fee is exempted by the government. ④ Language Training Expenses : NIIED pays the designated language training institution the full costs for up to one (1) year of Korean language studies. ⑤ Settlement Allowance : To be paid 200,000 won. ⑥ Repatriation Allowance : To be paid 100,000 won upon completion of studies. ⑦ Medical Insurance : The scholar willbe provided with health insurance during the period of the study program in Korea. (3) 장학금 지급 중 단 및 일시정 지 ① 다음의 경우에는 장학생 자격을 상실하고 장학금 지급을 중단한다. ◦ 장학생 지원 관계서류 및 기타 제출서류가 허위로 작성되었을 때 ◦ 수학대학으로부터 징계처분을 받았거나 정치활동을 한 때 ◦ 국립국제교육원에 서약한 사항 (국립국제교육원이 정한 정부초청 외국인 장학생 학사지침) 을 위반했을 때 ◦ 학위과정 재학 중 무단 수학 중단으로 수강을 신청한 과목의 총 학점의 2/3 이상 을 취득하지 못한 때 ◦ 휴학기간 및 휴학기간 종료 후 정당한 사유 없이 1개월 이내 복학원서를 제출하 지 않을 때 ◦ 중도포기를 했을 때 ◦ 한국어 연수 이수기간 종료 직후에 대학 학위과정에 진학하지 못한 경우 ◦ 외국대학과의 학점교류 등의 목적(교환학생 등)으로 출신국 또는 제3국에 출국한 경우 ② 학위과정 진학 후 1회 30일을 초과하여 일시 출국하는 경우 소속 대학의 승인을 받 아야 하며, 일시 출국일수가 1회에 30일을 초과하는 경우에는 초과분에 대한 생활 비는 지급하지 아니한다.

4. 거주 및 출입국 수속 (1) 외 국인 등 록 ① 외국인 등록 및 입국 신고 : 장학생은 입국 후 90일 이내에 법무부 출입국관리사무 소에 본인이 직접 방문하여 외국인 등록을 하여야 한다. 또한, 장학생은 한국에 주 재하고 있는 출신국 대사관에 입국신고를 하여야 한다. ◦ 장소 : 각 지역별 출입국관리사무소 ◦ 구비서류 : 외국인등록신청서, 재학증명서 1부(수학대학 발급), 여권, 사진 1매 (3cm×4cm), 정부초청외국인장학생 확인서 1부(국립국제교육원 발급), 수수료 ※ 체류자격부여 또는 변경허가를 받은 외국인은 그 허가를 받는 즉시 등록을 해야 한다.

(3) Temporary Suspension and Cancellation of Scholarship ① The Scholarship will be canceled in any of the following cases: ◦ Proof of falsehood of any statements made on any of the application materials or submitted documents or discovery of insufficient qualifications to be a scholar. When punished by the university or involved in any form of political activity, ◦ When you have been punished by the university for violating the guidelines and regulations established by the university or you have participated in a political act ◦ When not abiding by all the conditions and regulations set by NIIED, which you have pledged to follow, ◦ When not acquiring more than 2/3 of all of the credits of the courses registered due to the discontinuation of the study without permission from the NIIED, ◦ When not submitting a request for re-enrollment to the university and not notifying the NIIED of re-enrollment without any proper reasons not later than one month after the period of leave of absence from study ends, ◦ When an award holder cancels their study in the half way, ◦ When a Korean-language course award holder fails to get admission for the degree course right after the end of the Korean language course. ◦ When an award holder returns to his/her country of origin or to another country for the purpose of joining an exchange program between the Korean and foreign universities. ② After entering a degree course, the scholar must receive permission from the university for any temporary departure of more than 30 days, and the monthly allowance for absences over 30 days will not be given.

4. Procedures for Residence and Re-entry (1) Immigration Registration ① Alien Registration and Notification of arrival to foreign missions in Korea : You must register your occupation and address at the Korea Immigration Service Office, (Ministry of Justice) within 90 days after arrival. You are also advised to notify your nation's embassy of your arrival. ◦ Place : Korea Immigration Service office ◦ Required documents : One application form, one original certificate of university enrollment (issued by the university), one Government scholarship student certification (issued by the NIIED), passport, one photograph (3cm×4cm), fee (paid in cash) ※ A foreigner who has been granted or has changed one's status of sojourn, must register oneself immediately.

② 외국인등록증(ID카드) 기재내용 변경 신고 : 소속 학교 변경, 주소지 변경 등 외국 인등록카드의 기재내용에 변동이 생겼을 때에는 14일 이내에 관할 출입국관리사무 소에 신고해야 한다. ◦ 장소 : 관할 출입국 관리사무소 또는 출장소 ◦ 구비서류(주소 등 변경시) : 외국인등록사항변경신고서, 여권, 외국인등록증, <주의> ① 외국인은 출입국관리사무소에서 발급한 외국인등록카드를 반드시 소지하고 다녀야 한다. ② 장학생은 주소지 또는 연락처가 변경되었을 경우에는 즉시 수학대학에 주소 및 연락처 변경신고서를 제출하여야 한다. ※ 외국인 등록을 한 외국인이 외국인등록사항이 변경된 날부터 14일 이내에 관할 출입 국관리사무소에 신고를 하지 않은 경우 출입국관리법제35조 위반으로 과태료가 부과 된다. ③ 외국인등록증 재발급 : 외국인등록증을 분실한 경우에는 아래 서류를 갖추어 출입 국관리사무소에 신고하여야 한다. ㅇ 구비서류 : 외국인등록증재발급신청서, 여권, 사진 1매(3cm×4cm), 분실접수증(경찰 서 발급), 정부초청장학생 확인서 1부(국립국제교육원 발급), 수수료

(2) 체 류 자격 변 경 체류자격을 변경하고자 할 경우에는 다른 체류자격에 해당하는 활동을 하기 전까지 서류 를 갖추어 출입국관리사무소 또는 출장소에 제출하여야 한다. 체류자격 만료 이전에 체류 자격 변경 허가를 받지 않은 때에는 출입국관리법 위반으로 처벌을 받게 된다. (D-4→D-2) ◦ 장소 : 출입국 관리 사무소 또는 출장소 ◦ 구비서류 : 체류자격변경허가신청서, 여권, 외국인등록증, 표준입학허가서, 정부초청장 학생 확인서 1부(국립국제교육원 발급, 수수료 면제 요청 내용 포함) ◦ 출입국 관리 사무소에 따라서는 추가서류를 요구할 수도 있다.

② Notification of changes of school and address : You must register any change of your school and address at the Immigration Office, Ministry of Justice within 14 days. ◦ Place : Korean Immigration Service office, Ministry of Justice ◦ Required documents : one application form, passport, alien registration card <Notes> ① You must always carry the ID card issued by the Immigration Office during your stay in Korea. ② Notification of change of address or telephone number : In case of any change of your address or telephone number, you should notify the university of it immediately. ※ If a foreigner who registered does not notify the immigration office within 14 days after the date of change, he/she will face a penalty from violating immigration law Article 35. ③ Re-issuance of alien registration card : In case of the loss of alien registration card, you should notify the Immigration Office immediately. ◦ Required documents : One application form, passport, one photo (3cm×4cm), a receipt of the report of the loss (issued by a police office), one Government scholarship student certification (issued by the NIIED), processing fee

(2) Change of status of sojourn When you change your status of sojourn, you must submit the required documents to Immigration office for a new visa. If you do not obtain permission for change of status of sojourn before your current status of sojourn expires, you will be punished for violating the immigration law. (D-4→D-2) ◦ Place : Immigration office or Branch office ◦ Required documents : Application form, Passport, Alien Licence, Certificate of admission, One certificate of scholarship (Issued by NIIED, for exception of processing fee) ◦ Some immigration offices may require additional documents.

(3) Extension of sojourn period Anyone who possesses a D-2 visa and needs to extend one's sojourn period to complete degree courses or to write a thesis must submit required documents to an immigration office before one's current visa is expired. ◦ Place : Immigration office or Branch office ◦ Required documents : Application form, Passport, Alien Licence, Certificate of enrollment (Issued by university), One certificate of scholarship (Issued by NIIED, for exception of handling fee and recommendation letter from academic advisor is not required) ◦ Some immigration offices may require additional documents.

(4) 일시출 국 및 재 입국 ① 일시출국 ◦ 일시출국 가능기간 : 학위과정생의 경우 일시출국기간은 연간 90일을 초과할 수 없으며, 1회 연속하여 30일을 초과할 수 없다. 다만, 전공관련 학술대회 참가 및 자료수집 등 수학대학장이 인정한 경우에는 예외로 할 수 있다. ◦ 일시 출국 신고 : 일시 출국 10일전에 수학대학장에게 일시출국 신고서를 제출하 여야 한다. ◦ 한국어연수 기간 중에는 일시출국을 불허한다. 다만, 방학기간 중에는 한국어연수 기관장의 허가를 받아 2주 이내로 일시출국 할 수 있다. 단, 개인질병치료 등 특 별한 경우에는 학기 중에라도 증빙서류를 제출하고 한국어 연수기관장의 허가를 받아 2주 이내로 일시출국 할 수 있다. ◦ 한국어연수과정을 이수중인 자가 한국어연수기간(방학기간을 포함한다) 중 일시 출국하는 경우에는 일시 출국한 기간만큼 생활비를 지급하지 아니한다.

② 재입국 ◦ 재입국 허가 : 장학생이 체류기간 내에 출국하였다가 재입국하고자 할 경우에는 출국하기 이전에 관할 출입국관리사무소에 필요한 서류를 제출하여 재입국 허가 를 받아야 한다. 재입국허가의 최장기간은 단수(1회에 한하여 재입국)인 경우 1 년, 복수(2회 이상 재입국)인 경우 2년이다. ◦ 구비서류 : 재입국허가신청서, 여권, 외국인등록증, 정부초청장학생 확인서 1부, 재학증명서 또는 지도교수 의견서 1부, 수수료 ◦ 신고 : 일시출국기간이 종료되어 재입국한 장학생은 재입국 후 3일 이내에 여권 사본 1부를 갖추어 수학대학장에 재입국 신고를 하여야 한다.

(4) Temporary Departure and Re-entry Please note : According to the program policy, scholars are not permitted to leave Korea during the first year of studying at the Korean Language Institute. During the normal Bachelor’s degree studies, all departures from the country require prior approval by NIIED and the university and absences of more than 30 days will affect the payment of the monthly allowance. See section 3.(3) C. ① Temporary departure ◦ Permissive period of temporary departure : Temporary departure can neither exceed 90 days per year nor 30 days at one departure. But exceptional application is to be made for temporary departure due to participation in the academic conferences or collection of data related to your major subjects or other unavoidable cases, by the approval of the president of university. ㅇ Notification of temporary departure : When you would like to leave Korea temporarily, you must notify the university by submitting the required documents prior to temporary departure. ◦ Under the regulation, scholars are not permitted to leave Korea temporarily while taking the Korean language courses in the first year. However, during the vacation, temporary departure can be allowed not exceeding 2 weeks if you have received the approval of the president of the university. However, in case of emergency, you may leave Korea during the normal school period for a time not exceeding 2 weeks if you can first provide sufficient evidence of the emergency to the university and you have received the approval of the president of the university. ◦ In case that scholars in the Korean language course leave Korea temporarily at any time during the first year (including the vacation period), living allowance for the period of absence will not be provided. ② Re-entry ◦ Re-entry permit : Before you leave Korea, you must get a re-entry permit at the Immigration Office by submitting the required documents. The maximum period of re-entry permit is one year for one re-entry, and two years for more than two re-entries. ◦ Required documents : An application form, Passport, Alien License, Certificate of Korean Government Scholarship, Certificate of enrollment / Written opinion of academic advisor, A fee ◦ Notification of re-entry : When you re-enter Korea after returning from your temporary departure, you must notify the university of your re-entry within 3 days after your re-entry by submitting a copy of your passport.

5. 귀국 (1) 귀 국 신고 수학을 마치고 귀국하고자 하는 경우 또는 부득이한 사유로 중도 포기하고 귀국하고자 하는 경우에는 다음 서류를 갖추어 수학대학에 신고하여야 한다. ㅇ 귀국신고서 1부 ㅇ 지도교수의견서 1부

(2) 귀 국항 공 편 의 제 공 수학을 마치고 귀국하는 장학생에게는 한국의 인천국제공항에서 장학생 주소지 인근 국 제공항까지의 편도 보통석 항공권이 제공된다. ◦ 항공권 수령 : 항공회사를 방문하여 수령하거나 국립국제교육원에서 수령할 수 있다. ※ 귀국 항공경비 지급형태는 국립국제교육원에서 결정한다.

(3) 귀 국 후 협조 사 항 장학생이 본국 귀국 후에는 거주지 인근 한국공관에(대사관 또는 영사관) 한국에서의 유 학 상황을 신고하고, 한국공관이나 본원에 계속 연락을 취해 각종 자료 제공, 재 수학기회 제공 등 많은 도움을 받을 수 있도록 긴밀한 관계를 유지한다. 또한 본원의 Alumni Network 에 가입하여 회원으로 활동한다. - 32 -


<Notes> ① Application for Leave of Absence from study : When you would like to pause temporarily from study, you should get permission from the university in advance by submitting the following documents before submission of an application for Leave of Absence from study to the university you attend. 1. A copy of diagnosis (In case of medical leave of absence) 2. Application for leave of absence 3. Permission of leave of absence from university and written opinion of academic advisor ② Period of Leave of Absence from study and its extension : The period of Leave of Absence from study is to be decided by the university you attend, but it cannot exceed more than one year. Extension beyond one year is only permitted in such cases as caused by natural calamities, illness or unavoidable circumstances within that maximum one year of absence. ③ Departure : Scholars cannot stay in Korea, as the visa will terminate during the leave of absence. Scholars must obtain a new visa from the Korean Embassy in their origin for re-entry into Korea. ④ Resumption of study and its notification : When you would like to resume your study, you must submit an application for resumption of study to the university you belong to, one month before the end of leave of absence.

5. Home-Return (1) Notification of Home-Return When you want to return to your country after obtaining a degree or you must quit your study due to personal reasons, you must notify the university by submitting the following documents. ◦ An application for Home-return ◦ Awritten opinion of academic advisor

(2) Provision of Return Flight Ticket NIIED will provide you with one economy class flight ticket from Seoul to the international airport nearest your residence in your country when you complete your program and obtain your degree. ◦ Receiving Air Ticket : You may visit the airlineagency to receive the ticket or may pick it up at NIIED. ※ Type of provision of return flight ticket is to be decided by the NIIED.

(3) Cooperation after Home-Return Once you have returned to your home country, you are requested to notify the Korean Embassy or Consulate in your home country of your studies. Should you keep in touch with the Korean Embassy or NIIED, you will be provided with Korean Government periodicals and informed of the current developments of Korea. Ⅲ. 일상생활 1. 주거생활 (1) 수 학대학교 의 기 숙 사 정부초청 외국인 학부장학생은 수학대학의 기숙사를 이용할 수 있다. 각 대학의 기숙사의 기숙사비는 월 15만원~40만원까지 있으며 대부분의 방은 공동 사용이다.

(2) 하숙 및 주택 임 차 수학대학에서 제공하는 기숙사 이용을 원치 않는 경우에는, 하숙 또는 임대주택을 이용 할 수 있다. ① 하숙 : 대학 주변에는 숙식을 제공하는 개인 가정이 많이 있다. 이를 하숙이라고 하 며, 대개 한국식의 온돌방과 한국식의 음식을 제공하고 있다. 일반적으로 2인1실을 사용하며 아침식사와 저녁식사를 제공하고 40 ~ 50만원 선이다. ② 임대 주택 : 주택이나 아파트를 임차할 수도 있으나 경비가 많이 들며, 지역에 따라 임차가격도 차이가 많이 난다. 임차 방법은 월 임차료를 내고 사용하는 방법과 보 증금을 내고 집이나 방을 빌리는 방법도 있다. ㅇ 임차(월세) - 고급형이 아닌 침실 1개당 월 임대료는 40만원 선이 보통이다. 이때 도 약간의 보증금을 내야하며 기간만료 후에는 보증금을 100% 돌려받게 된다. 월 임대료는 환불받지 못한다. ㅇ 보증금형(전세) - 고급형이 아닌 침실 1개당 전세는 2,000만원 ~ 4,000만원선이 일 반적이며 보증금은 기간만료 후 100% 돌려받는다. 주택임대시에는 소유주 또는 부동산 중개인과의 계약시 계약기간 및 보증금 지불 등에 관한 내용을 충분히 이 해하는 등 계약서 서명에 유의하여야 한다.

Ⅲ. Daily Life 1. Accommodation (1) Dormitory Each university has its own accommodation which provide rooms available for those who pursue their degree. Students cannot stay in the university dormitory while attending the language institute. The averagecost for a university dormitory room is between 150,000 and 400,000 won monthly.

(2) Boarding Houses & Rental Houses If you don't want to live in the university dormitory, you can choose to live a boarding house or a rental house. ① Boarding Houses : There are many boarding houses in the neighborhood of universities. Boarding houses usually provide Korean meals for breakfast and dinner. In winter rooms are heated on floors. Rooms heated in this way are called Ondol bang. Bathroom facilities are usually shared. A shared room costs about 400,000 ~ 500,000 won. ② Rental Houses or Apartments : It is very expensive to rent a house or an apartment in Seoul. Costs vary considerably depending on the location. There are two methods in renting accommodation in Korea, either by monthly payments or by paying a large deposit. ㅇ Monthly Rental - A one-room apartment usually costs around 400,000won per month. A small refundable deposit may also be required. Monthly payments are not refunded. ㅇ Deposit Method - On average a 20 ~ 40 million won deposit is required for a one-room apartment. This deposit is fully refundable after the contract period expires.

2. 식생활 ① 대학의 학생식당 이용 : 한국의 학생들은 주로 대학의 학생식당에서 식사를 한다. 대 학의 학생식당은 값이 저렴하며 아침, 점심, 저녁식사를 할 수 있다. 가격은 대학에 따라 차이가 많으나 대부분 2,500원~3,500원 수준이다. ② 일반식당 : 대학교 근처에는 값이 저렴하고 편리한 여러 가지 형태의 식당(한국식, 서 양식, 중국식, 일본식)들이 있으며 일반 고급식당의 음식값은 상당히 비싼 편이다. ③ 기타 : 편의점, 패스트푸드점, 스낵코너 등도 많이 있다. ④ 개인 취사 : 대부분 기숙사에서의 취사는 원칙적으로 금지되어 있다(가족생활동은 예외). 기숙사에 거주하는 학생들은 학교식당이나 일반식당을 이용해야 하며, 개인주택이나 아파트를 임대하면 취사가 가능하다.

3. 의복 한국은 4계절의 변화가 뚜렷하므로 여러 가지 형태의 의복을 준비해야 한다. 여름용, 겨울용, 그리고 봄, 가을용의 의복을 준비해야 한다. 여름에는 짧은 팔과 얇은 천 의 옷이 필요하고 겨울에는 두텁고 추위에 견딜 수 있는 외투 등이 필요하다. 봄, 가을에는 그 중간 정도의 옷을 입는 것이 좋다. 서울의 동대문시장, 남대문시장 등 도매시장에서는 여러 가지 의복들을 비교적 저렴하게 구입할 수 있다. ※ 12월- 1월 : 영하의 매우 추운 날씨 2월- 3월 : 10℃ 이하의 쌀쌀한 날씨 4월- 5월 : 15℃ ~ 25℃ 의 따뜻한 날씨 6월- 8월 : 25℃ 이상의 매우 더운 날씨 9월-11월 : 15℃ ~ 25℃ 의 따뜻한 날씨

4. 교통 한국의 교통수단은 대중교통을 이용하는 것이 가장 좋다. 한국의 대중교통체계는 비교적 잘 되어 있으므로 크게 불편이 없고 가격도 저렴한 편이다. 한국의 대도시 및 근교는 지하철로 연결되어 있다. 도시간은 고속버스 및 기차를 이용해 이동할 수 있다. 택시는 거리와 시간에 따라 요금의 차이가 많이 난다. 일반 택시는 지역별 로 기본요금이 다른데 보통 1,900원~2,400원부터 요금이 시작된다. 그리고 밤 12시부터 새 벽 4시까지는 요금의 20%가 할증요금으로 부가된다. 검은 색의 모범택시는 요금이 더 비싸 다. 택시를 이용할 때 팁은 일반적으로 주지 않는다.

2. Meals In the most of campus restaurants breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. A meal usually costs 2,500~3,500 won. There are usually plenty of restaurants located around the universities. As well as Korean restaurants, Chinese, Japanese and Western style restaurants are abundant and easy to find. Convenience stores, fast-food outlets, and snack bars are also available. Cooking is not allowed in most dormitories, except in the family dormitories. Apartments and houses usually contain cooking facilities.

3. Clothing Korea has four distinct seasons; very hot summers, very cold winters and mild weather in spring and autumn. Students should prepare adequately for each season with light cool clothing for the summer and heavy warm clothing for winter, as well as something for in between. ※ Temperature December ~ January : February ~ March : April ~ May : June ~ August : September ~ November :

Very cold, below 0℃ Cold , below 10℃ Warm, between 15℃and 25℃ Very hot, above 25℃ Warm, between 15℃ and 25℃

4. Transportation Public transportation in Seoul is very cheap, convenient and easy to use. Comprised of 8 lines, the subway can be taken to almost any spot around the city. The basic subway fare is 1,000 won. In case of using a traffic card, the fare is 900 won. and it may cost a little more for cities on the outskirts of Seoul. There are four types of buses in Seoul. Standard buses have only a few seats and cost 1,000 won. The other type of bus has a lot more seats and has less stopsthan the standard bus and costs 1,500 or 1,600 won. The fare is discounted by using a traffic card. Buses traveling to outskirt cities may be more expensive. Taxis are cheap and easy to use. The basic fare for a standard taxi starts from 1,900 won ~ 2,400 won. Between 12 p.m. and 4 a.m. taxi fares increase by 20%. Black taxis (Mobum taxi) are more expensive than the standard taxis. Tipping is not usual in Korea and is not necessary when taking a taxi. Students may drive in Korea but it is not recommended as traffic is very heavy in Seoul. It is usually much more convenient to use public transportation.

5. 치안 한국은 치안상태가 비교적 안정적이고 총검류의 휴대와 폭력은 엄격히 규제되고 있다. 밤늦게 지하철을 타거나 거리를 거닐어도 큰 문제는 없다. 단 전철, 시장 등 복잡한 곳에서 물건의 도난, 분실은 주의하는 것이 좋다. 마약, 대마초 등 향정신성 식‧의약품류의 매매, 사용이 엄격하게 금지되어 있다.

6. 보험 정부초청 장학생은 한국 입국일부터 최종 출국일까지 수학대학에 의해 여행자 보험에 가 입된다. 보험료는 국립국제교육원이 지불한다. 보상 내용 및 보상 청구 절차는 아래와 같으 나, 정확한 보상범위는 보험사와 체결한 보험계약상의 규정에 의한다.

(1) 의료비 지출 한국 입국 후 질병이 발생할 경우 자비로 먼저 치료를 받은 후 보험회사에 의료비를 청 구하여 환불받게 된다. 장기 질병의 경우에는 입원 즉시 보험회사에 연락하면 보험회사에 서 진료기관을 방문하여 지급보증을 할 수도 있다. 의료비 청구는 수학대학에 서류를 갖추 어 청구하거나 보험회사에 직접 신청할 수 있다. 수학대학을 경유하는 경우에는 서류 송부 에 소요되는 시간으로 인하여 의료비 환불기간이 보험회사에 직접 신청할 경우보다 더 걸 린다. 일반적으로 한국 입국 후에 발생한 질병에 대한 치료비는 일정 한도 내에서 보상받 으나 임신, 출산, 성형수술, 의치, 만성 질환, 정신 질환, 장학생 신분 취득 전에 기인한 질 병 등은 이에 해당되지 않는다. ㅇ 제출서류 : 신청서, 은행통장 사본(통장의 표지 안쪽), 의사진단서, 영수증, 처방전, 기타 보험회사의 제출요청서류(보험회사 요청시)

(2) 사 고 피 해 사고를 당했을 경우 일정 기준의 보상을 받는다.

(3) 사 고 가 해 사고를 내서 피해자에게 보상을 해 주어야 할 경우에 보험회사에서 대신 지급한다.

(4) 도난 피 해 중요한 물품을 도난당했을 경우 경찰에 신고를 하고 보험사에 신청하면 일정 금액을 보 상받는다.(현금 제외)

5. Safety Seoul is a fairly safe city. Handguns, knives and other weapons are prohibited from possession and acts of violence are uncommon. There is usually no problem taking subways or walking around the city late at night. However, it is a good idea to take precautions against pickpockets in crowded areas. Using or dealing of any form of drugs is strictly prohibited in Korea.

6. Insurance All scholarshipstudents are insured by the university from the day when their scholarship period starts. The insurance policy includes the following.

(1) Medical Expenses According to the insurance policy medical fee is to be paid by the student first and then is tobe reimbursed by the insurance company later. As for the long-term disease, they shall contact the insurance company first right after they get admission into a hospital, the insurance company can visit the hospital and guarantee the payment of the medical expenses. Students may apply for the reimbursement of the medical fee via the university or directly to the Insurance company. But it will take a little more time to get reimbursed via the university since there is some more time needed for the university to forward the documents to the insurance company. If students want to shorten its period and get the medical expenses paid earlier, they may apply for it directly to the insurance company. Generally most of the expenses related with sicknesses and diseases except chronic diseases, which the student gets after arrival in Korea, will be reimbursed up to the set limit. However, this insurance does not cover pregnancy, giving birth, plastic surgery, dental bridgework, a chronic disease, mental illness, and similar cases. ă&#x2026;&#x2021; Documents to be submitted : An application, A photocopy of bankbook (account number shown), M.D.'s diagnosis, Receipt, Prescription other documents (upon request of the insurance company)

(2) Accidents Expenses related with the accident will be compensated up to the set limit.

(3) Accidental Injury Caused to Others Expenses related with accidental injury caused to others will be compensated up to the set limit.

(4) Theft With the exception of cash, stolen goods are covered in the policy. Any loss must be reported to the police and the report of the loss is required in applying for the refund. - 39 -


7. 긴급 상황 (1) 범 죄 발 생 신고 범죄를 당했거나 목격하였을 경우에는 즉시 가장 가까운 공중전화를 이용하여 국번 없이 112번으로 전화한다.

(2) 화재 발 생 신고 화재를 당했을 경우 국번 없이 119번으로 전화한다.

(3) 부 상 자 발 생 부상자가 생겼을 경우 가장 가까운 병원을 찾아 도움을 청하고 매우 긴급하거나 부상자를 병원으로 이송할 수 없는 경우에는 국번 없이 119번으로 전화하여 도움을 청한다. ※ 반드시 수학대학에 긴급 연락할 것

(4) 기 타 어려운 일이 생겼을 경우에는 가까운 파출소에 찾아가 도움을 청한다. ※ 112, 119 등 긴급전화는 통화료가 부과되지 않는다. 공중전화를 이용한 긴급전화는 빨 간색 단추를 누르고 번호를 누른다.

8. 대중매체 대중매체를 이용할 경우에는 본인의 경비로 지출해야 한다.

(1) 신문 신문은 편의점이나 가판대 또는 지하철에서 구입할 수 있다. 또한 월간 구독, 연간 구독 이 가능하다. 영자 신문은 Korea Herald, Korea Times 등이 판매되고 있다. 1일분 신문은 700원 정도이다.

(2) TV TV 방송국은 전국 네트웍의 KBS1, KBS2, MBC, SBS 외에 몇 개 채널이 있으며 영어방 송인 AFKN(미군방송)도 시청이 가능하다. 단 TV를 갖고 있는 사람은 매월 2,500원의 시청 료를 납부해야 한다. 요즈음은 초고속광케이블을 이용한 케이블 TV 이용자가 늘고 있다. 24시간 시청 가능하며 뉴스, 영화, 음악, 다큐멘터리, 스포츠, 게임, 홈쇼핑 등 60여개 이상 의 전문채널을 이용할 수 있다. 기본형 가입시 설치비(주택형태에 따라 다름)와 해지 시 환 불 가능한 컨버터 보증금 30,000원 이외에 월 수신료 17,000원 정도의 비용이 든다. 7. Emergencies (1) Reporting a Burglary If students experience or witness a suspected burglary, dial 112 for police assistance.

(2) Fire In the event of a fire, dial 119.

(3) Injury or Illness Go to the nearest hospital. If the injury is serious or requires an ambulance, dial 119. â&#x20AC;ť Must contact to the university immediately.

(4) For Any Other Difficult Situation Go to the nearest police box or police station and ask for help. â&#x20AC;ť There is no charge for emergency 112, or 119 calls. When using a public phone, press the red button before dialing the emergency number.

8. News, Media and Communication Expenses for communications, newspapers, television etc. are the students' responsibility.

(1) Newspaper Newspapers may be purchased at convenience stores, street stands, and subways. Monthly or yearly subscriptions are also available. Two English newspapers are available in Korea for 700 won each, The Korea Herald and Korea Times.

(2) TV Korean televisionnetworks KBS1, KBS2, MBC, SBS, as well as AFKN(The American Forces Korean Network, an English station) are broadcast throughout Korea. Students with a television must pay the registration fee of 2,500 won per month. Nowadays subscribers of Korean cable TV are increasing, which 24 hours viewing is available and which provides more than 60 channels specializing in news, movies, musical entertainment, documentaries, sports, education, games, home shopping. When students apply for subscription for the first time, fee for installation(different according to the types of accommodation) and deposit for a converter(refundable) -30,000 wonshould be paid. (3) 라 디 오 많은 라디오 FM, AM 방송이 있고 전국 어느 곳에서도 청취가 가능하다.

(4) 인 터 넷 한국의 각 대학에는 학생들을 위한 컴퓨터 시설이 비교적 잘 갖추어져 있다. 이러한 시 설을 이용할 수도 있고 Game room 이나 PC room에서 인터넷을 이용하기도 쉽다.

(5) 도서 대부분의 일반 서점이나 대학의 서점에서 쉽게 구입할 수 있으며 대형서점에는 외국서적 전문 코너가 있다.

9. 기타 편의시설 (1) 공 중 목 욕 탕 한국인은 전통적인 공중목욕탕을 즐겨 이용한다. 1회 사용료는 시간 제한 없이 5,000원 정도 이다.

(2) 이용 실 , 미 용 실 한국에서는 어느 곳에서나 이용실(남)과 미용실(여)을 발견할 수 있다. 보통 커트의 경우 8,000원~15,000원 정도이다.

(3) 생 필 품 구 입 각 지역에는 슈퍼마켓이 많이 있으며 개장시간은 보통 10:00 ~ 20:00 이다. 작은 가게보다 는 보통 ‘마트’라고 불리는 슈퍼마켓들의 생필품 가격이 더 싸다. 심야에 개장을 하는 큰 시장들도 있다. 이러한 시장에서는 모든 물품을 더욱 저렴하게 구입할 수 있으며 특히 값 이 싼 의류 등으로 많이 알려져 있다.

(3) Radio There are many FM and AM radio stations broadcast throughout the country.

(4) Internet Internet facilities are well developed in most Korean universities. The Internet can also be used in game rooms or PC rooms, which are easily found throughout the city.

(5) Books These can be found in most bookstores and the universities. Especially in large book store, you can find foreign book section.

9. Other Facilities (1) Public Bath Houses Traditional public baths are still enjoyed by many people in Korea. Bathing facilities are shared, and the cost is around 5,000won.

(2) Barber Shops and Hairdressers Barbershops and hairdressers can be easily found anywhere in the city. Generally the cost for haircut is around 8,000wonď˝&#x17E;15,000won.

(3) Department Stores and Markets There are many department stores in Korea, especially in Seoul. Opening hours are usually 10 a.m. through 8 p.m. Department stores are also open for most public holidays, although they usually closed several times a month on a fixed schedule. Market places around the city are often open until 10 or 11pm. Some of the large wholesale markets are open 24 hours and sell all kinds of products at very cheap prices. These markets are well known for inexpensive clothing and fashion accessories.

10. 공휴일 (1) 주말 한국에서는 대부분의 관공서와 공공기관, 은행, 회사 등이 토요일과 일요일에는 일을 하 지 않는다. 일반적으로 대학에서는 토요일에 수업이 없다.

(2) 공 휴 일 다음과 같은 날은 공휴일로 정해져 있다. ◦ 신정 : 매년 1월 1일 ◦ 설날 : 음력 1월 1일을 전후 한 3일간 (음력 12월말일, 1월 1일, 1월 2일은 설 연휴라고 하며 거의 모든 곳이 일을 하지 않는다.) 이 기간에는 많은 사람들이 고향을 찾아가고, 친척들이 모여 조상에게 제사를 지내 거나, 웃어른에게 “세배”라고 하는 인사를 드린다. ◦ 3‧1절 : 3월 1일 1919년 3월 1일 한국의 독립을 위해 온 민족이 힘을 합쳐 독립운동을 했던 날을 기념 한다. ◦ 석가탄신일 : 음력 4월 8일 - 석가모니의 탄생을 기념하는 날로서 불교신자들의 특별한 행사가 다채롭다. ◦ 어린이 날 : 5월 5일 - 어린이를 위해 하루를 보낸다. 어린이에게 선물을 주기도 하고 함께 소풍을 가기도 한다. ◦ 현충일 : 6월 6일 - 국가와 민족을 위해 활동하다 순국한 애국자들을 기리는 날, 국립묘지에 헌화를 하 고 추모식을 갖기도 한다. ◦ 광복절 : 8월 15일 - 1945년 8월 15일 대한민국이 독립한 날을 기념한다. ◦ 추석 : 음력 8월 15일을 전후하여 3일간(음력 8월14일, 15일, 16일) - 추수감사절과 같은 행사로서 설날과 같이 우리나라의 중요한 명절이다. 그러나 설 날과 같이 세배를 하지는 않는다. ◦ 개천절 : 10월 3일 - BC2333년 단군이 우리나라를 세운 날을 기념한다. 하늘이 열린 날이라는 뜻인 바, 처음으로 국가가 세워졌다는 뜻이다. ◦ 크리스마스 : 12월 25일 - 예수 그리스도의 탄신일로 기독교인들이 다양하고 성대한 행사를 한다.

10. Holidays (1) Weekends Most businesses, public offices, and banks close on Saturday and Sunday. In general, universities do not hold classes on Saturdays.

(2) Public Holidays ◦ New Year's day : January 1st ◦ Lunar New Year's day : 12.31, 1.1, 1.2 (lunar calender) - During this time Korean families come together to honor their ancestors with traditional rituals. Children bow to their elders 「sebae」, often in traditional clothing. Celebrations are held over three days. ◦ Independence Movement Day : March 1st - The anniversary of the 1919 Independence movement against colonial Japanese rule. ◦ Buddha's Birthday : April 8th (lunar calendar) - This holiday is held in honor of Buddha's birth, colourful ceremonies are held in Buddhist temples. ◦ Children's day : May 5th - This is a day for children to enjoy themselves ◦ Memorial Day : June 6th - This holiday is held to remember the war dead. Memorial services are held throughout the country, and many people visit the National Cemetery in Seoul, bringing flowers and special food. ◦ Liberation Day : August 15th - This holiday celebrates liberation from Japan after 35 years of colonial rule. ◦ Chusok : August 15th (lunar calendar) - Similar to thanksgiving, this is one of the most important festivals in Korea. Families come together to celebrate, and hold memorial services at family grave sites. ◦ National Foundation Day : October 3rd - This day marks the traditional founding of Korea, the day means that the sky was opened, by the god, Tan-gun, in 2333 B.C.. ◦ Christmas : December 25th - ln Korea, christians love to hold a grand celebration ofChristmas. - 45 -


(3) 기 타 임 시 공 휴 일 ◦ 선거일 : 대통령, 국회의원, 지방자치단체장 선거 등을 치루는 날은 임시로 공휴일로 정하여 국민들이 투표를 하는데 지장이 없도록 하고 있다. ◦ 5월1일 : 근로자의 날 - 근로자들의 노고를 위로하기 위한 날로서 각종회사나 산업체, 은행 등은 이날 일을 하지 않는다. 그러나 관공서는 평소와 같이 일을 하며 학교도 쉬지 않는다.

11. 외국인 학생의 시간제 취업 (1) 허 용 대상 ◦ 소속대학의 전임강사 이상의 교수의 추천을 받은 자 ◦ 정규학위 과정에 입학하여 6개월(1학기) 이상 계속 수학한 자 ※ 한국어연수를 받고 있는 학생은 신청할 수 없음

(2) 취 업 허 용 시간 ◦ 주당 20시간 이내

(3) 취 업 허 가 기 간 : 체류기간의 범위 내에서 신청 일회당 1년 동안 (4) 취 업 제 한 분 야 ◦ 학생의 신분을 벗어난 활동 및 법무부 장관이 취업을 제한할 필요가 있다고 인정되 는 분야의 취업은 제한한다.

(5) 제 출 서 류 (출 입국관리 사 무소 ) ◦ 여권, 외국인등록증 ◦ 체류자격 외 활동허가 신청서 ◦ 고용주의 고용확인서(아르바이트 기간, 장소, 업종, 담당업무, 사업자등록번호 등이 포함되도록 작성) ◦ 전임 강사 이상의 추천서 ◦ 수수료 3만원, 단, 한국계 외국인(입증서류 제출자)은 수수료 면제 ※ 정부초청 외국인 장학생의 경우에도 수수료는 지불 ※ 시간제 취업(아르바이트) 허가를 받지 않은 외국유학생 및 고용주에 대해서는 출 입국관리법 위반으로 처벌 및 벌금 부과 - 46 -


(3) Other Holidays ◦ Election Day : This is a public holiday to allow people to vote. ◦ May 1st : Labor Day - This is a holiday held only for those in the work force. Banks and most companies close for the day. However, public servants are expected to work, and teachers and students must go to school on this day.

11. Policy on foreign students' taking up a part-time job (1) Scope of permission Permission will be given to the person ㅇ Who is to be recommended from a professor of the university which you belong to. (whose position is above a full-time lecturer) ㅇ Who has finished one semester degree course-work after getting admission from the univ. ※ So those taking language training course are not qualified for getting a part-time job.

(2) Time available for a part-time job ㅇ Not more than 20 hours per week during semester (Taking a part-time job in more than two working places is not permitted.)

(3) Period of permission : up to one year at one time within the period of stay (4) Restriction ㅇ A part-time job is to be strictly restricted in the fields where students should not to be possibly involved in and in the fields where need to be restricted by the judgement of the Minister of Justice.

(5) Required documents (for the immigration office) ㅇ Passport, Alien Registration card ㅇ Application for Permission for Extra-activities excluding the activities appropriate to the visa status of the applicant. ㅇ Certificate of Employment (Period of part-time job, working place, field, task, registration number of employer, etc should be included) ㅇ Recommendation letter (written byabove a full-time lecturer) ㅇ Fee : 30,000 won. Fee is to be exempted, however, in the case that an applicant may submit an evidential document to prove that he/she is an overseas Korean holding a citizenship of the country abroad he/she belongs to. ※ Korean Government Scholarship students should pay it. ※ Either a foreign student or his/her employer who do not get permission for part-time job from the Ministry of Justice will be punished against the violation of the law related to the entry and exit for foreigners. - 47 -

The bus number you will take is 602-1 for Donamdong-Seodaemun. The students can get on the bus at the bus-stops : 6A, 12B. Students must get off at the Entrance of Sungkyunkwan Univ.. It takes about 100 minutes. The limousine runs every 20~ 30 minute.(The first bus starts at 05:10 and the last one at 23:00). □ 정부초청외국인장학생 학사지침 제1조(목적) 이 지침은 정부초청장학생(이하 “장학생”이라 한다)의 건전한 면학과 유학 생활의 내실화에 필요한 사항을 정함을 목적으로 한다. 제2조(한국어연수과정 이수) ①장학생은 학위과정 입학전에 1년의 한국어연수과정을 이 수하여야 한다. 단, 국립국제교육원장(이하“교육원장”이라 한다)이 특별히 인정하는 다음 각호의 자격 소지자가 석․박사 학위과정에 입학할 경우에는 예외로 한다. 1. 한국어 연수 제외 대상자 ○ 한국어능력시험(TOPIK) 5급 이상인 자 ○ 다음 요건 중 하나에 해당하는 자로서 한국어로 대학원 수강이 가능한 자 - 외국대학 한국어문학, 한국학 관련학과 4년 이상 수료자 - 한국어능력시험 4급으로 ․ 한국에서 4년제 대학 또는 대학원 2년 이상 수료자 ․ 외국에서 한국어문학, 한국학 관련학과 2년 이상 수료자 ․ 국내외 한국 공공기관 또는 한국 회사에서 2년 이상 근무한 자 ②교육원장은 장학생이 학위과정에 입학한 후에 장학생이 소속된 교육기관 또는 연구 기관(이하“수학대학”이라 한다)의 요청에 의하여 예산의 범위 안에서 추가 6개월 이 내로 한국어 연수를 실시하게 할 수 있다. 제3조(한국어능력 검정) <삭제> 제4조(한국어연수과정 이수 면제) <삭제> 제5조(한국어연수과정 이수기간 연장) <삭제> 제6조(결석 허가 신청) 한국어연수과정 중에 부득이한 사유로 결석하고자 하는 장학생은 미리 한국어연수기관장의 허가를 받아야 한다. 다만, 부득이한 경우에는 사후에 진단 서 등의 증빙서류를 첨부한 결석계를 제출할 수 있다. 제7조 <삭제> 제8조(학위과정 입학 지원) ①학위과정에 입학을 희망하는 위탁 장학생은 진학 희망 과 정의 입학전형 시작 1개월 전에 수학대학의 업무담당자와 협의하여야 한다. 다만, 위 탁대학 진학 관련 추진일정 등은 교육원의 행정지침에 의한다. ②장학생은 제반 구비서류를 갖추어 교육원장의 추천을 받아 입학지원서를 제출하여 야 한다. ③<삭제> 제9조(대학원 입학허가 보고) 수학대학장은 장학생의 대학원 입학을 허가한 경우 10일 - 59 -


이내에 교육원장에게 보고하여야 한다. 제10조(등록) 장학생은 입학허가를 받은 수학대학에서 정하는 등록기간 내에 등록하여 야 한다. 제11조(수강) 장학생은 등록한 수학대학에서 성실히 수강하여야 한다. 제12조(수학 상황 보고) 장학생 수학대학장은 매학기 종료 후에 다음 각호와 같이 장학 생의 수학 상황을 교육원장에게 보고하여야 한다. 1. 연구과정 장학생 : 연구 진행 상황(연구계획서 또는 연구결과보고서) 2. 한국어연수과정 장학생 : 성적 및 수료상황 3. 학위과정 장학생 : 성적 및 학위취득, 수료 상황 제13조(수학대학 변경) 수학대학을 부득이한 사유로 변경하고자 하는 장학생은 사전에 다음 각 호의 서류를 갖추어 교육원장의 허가를 받아야 한다. 1. 변경 허가 신청서 1부 2. 수학대학 지도교수 의견서 또는 변경 허가 동의서 1부 3. 희망 수학대학 지도 교수 의견서 1부 제14조(휴학 신청) ①질병, 가정 사정, 본국 정부의 일시소환 또는 기타 부득이한 사유 로 휴학하고자 하는 자는 다음 증빙서류를 갖추어 수학대학장의 승인을 받아야 한다. 1. 진단서 사본 1부(질병휴학의 경우에 한함) 2. 휴학신청서 1부 3. 수학대학의 휴학허가서 및 지도교수의견서 각 1부 ②수학대학장은 장학생의 휴학 처리 결과를 즉시 교육원장에게 보고하여야 한다. 제15조(휴학기간) 휴학기간은 1년을 초과할 수 없다. 단, 천재지변, 질병 등 부득이하다 고 수학대학장이 인정하는 경우에는 최대 1년의 범위 안에서 추가 연장할 수 있다. 제16조(복학 및 신고) ①복학을 하고자 하는 장학생은 휴학기간 종료 1개월 전에 수학 대학의 학칙에 따라 복학 신고를 하여야 한다. ②수학대학장은 장학생의 복학 처리 결과를 즉시 교육원장에게 보고하여야 한다. 제17조 ①(일시출국 신고) 장학생은 일시출국 10일전까지 일시출국신고서를 갖추어 수학 대학장에게 일시출국신고서를 제출하여 허가를 받아야 한다. 제18조(일시출국기간) ①학위과정의 일시출국기간은 1회 30일, 연간 90일을 초과할 수 없다. 다만, 전공 관련 학술대회 참가 및 자료수집 등 수학대학장이 인정한 경우에는 예외로 할 수 있다. ②일시출국에 대한 장학금 지급은 제29조 제2항에 의한다. ③한국어연수 기간 중에는 일시출국을 불허한다. 다만, 방학기간 중에는 한국어연수기

관장의 허가를 받아 2주 이내로 일시출국 할 수 있다. 단, 개인질병치료, 부모사망 등 특별한 경우에는 학기중에라도 증빙서류를 제출하고 한국어연수기관장의 허가를 받아 2주 이내로 일시출국 할 수 있다. 제19조(재입국 신고) 일시출국기간이 종료되어 재입국한 장학생은 재 입국후 3일 이내 에 여권사본 1부를 갖추어 수학대학장에게 재입국 신고를 하여야 한다. 제20조(수료 및 학위취득 신고) <삭제> 제21조 ① (논문작성) 학위논문은 원칙적으로 한국어로 작성하되, 대학 및 전공분야의 필요에 따라 부득이 외국어로 작성한 경우에는 한국어 요약본을 제출하여야 한다. ②(논문인쇄비 청구) 석․박사학위과정을 수료하고 학위논문 또는 연구논문을 인쇄한 자는 귀국 신고 시에 교육원장에게 다음 각 호의 서류를 갖추어 학위논문 또는 연구 논문의 인쇄비를 소정의 한도 내에서 청구할 수 있다. 1. 학위 논문 또는 연구논문 1부 2. 논문제출 확인서 1부 3. 학위논문 또는 연구논문 인쇄비 청구서 1부 4. 인쇄비 세금계산서 1부 제22조(귀국 신고) ①장학기간이 종료되거나 부득이한 사유로 중도 포기하고 귀국하고 자 하는 경우에는 다음 각 호의 서류를 갖추어 소속 수학대학에 신고하여야 하며, 수 학대학장은 장학기간 종료 또는 귀국 30일전까지 교육원장에게 보고하여야 한다. 1. 귀국 신고서 1부 2. <삭제> 3. 지도교수 의견서 1부 ②학위과정자가 장학기간 이내에 학위를 취득하지 못하여 학위취득을 목적으로 한국 내에 체류할 경우, 석사는 6개월까지, 박사는 12개월까지 귀국신고를 연기할 수 있으 며, 수학대학장은 장학기간 종료 30일 전까지 장학생의 귀국 신고 연기 상황을 교육 원장에게 보고하여야 한다. ③귀국신고자에게 교육원장은 귀국 항공권과 귀국 지원금을 제공한다. 다만 장학기간 종료 후 학위취득 이외의 목적으로 한국에 체류하는 경우는 예외로 한다. 제23조(주소지 또는 연락처 변경 신고) 장학생이 주소지 또는 연락처를 변경하였을 경우 변경신고서를 수학대학에 제출하여야 하며, 수학대학장은 3일 이내에 교육원장에게 변경 사실을 보고하여야 한다. 제24조(장학기간) ①장학생의 장학기간은 1년의 한국어연수과정 외에 학부과정은 4년, 석사과정은 2년, 박사과정은 3년으로 한다. 단, 제27조의 규정에 의하여 장학기간의

연장 승인을 받은 경우에는 그 승인기간을 포함한다. ②제1항의 장학기간에 휴학기간은 포함하지 아니한다. ③<삭제> ④연구과정의 장학금 지급기간은 6개월 또는 1년으로 한다. ⑤<삭제> 제24조의1 (장학금지급기간의 조정) ①<삭제> ②<삭제> ③ <삭제> 제25조(장학기간 연장) 장학기간은 석사과정은 6개월 1회, 박사과정은 1년의 범위 안에 서 6개월 단위로 2회까지 연장할 수 있다. 제25조의 1(장학기간 연장 자격 제한) ①다음 각 호 1에 해당하는 자는 장학기간 연장대 상에서 제외된다. 단, 3호에 해당하는 자로 부득이한 사유로 교육원장의 허가를 받은 경우에는 예외로 한다. 1. 연구과정 장학생 2. 학부과정 장학생 3. 학위과정생 중 전(全) 이수학기 총 취득학점의 평점평균이 B° (80/100) 미만인 자 4. 학위과정 입학 후 석사 4학기, 박사 6학기 이내 졸업에 필요한 학점을 취득하지 못 한 자 ②제30조의1의 규정에 의한 경우에는 장학기간 연장신청기회를 1회 상실한다. 제26조(장학금 연장기간의 공제) ① - ③ <삭제> 제27조(장학기간 연장 신청) 석․박사학위과정 장학생으로서 장학기간의 연장이 필요한 경우 장학금 지급기간 종료 2개월 전에 다음 각 호의 서류를 갖추어 수학대학을 경유 하여 교육원장의 승인을 얻어야 한다. 1. 연장신청서 1부 2. 지도교수 의견서 1부 3. 학사보고서 1부 4. 대학원 전 학년 성적증명서 1부 5. 논문작성 세부계획서 1부 6. 국내외 학술지에 발표한 논문요약서 1부(발표논문이 있는 자에 한함) 제28조(생활비 및 연구비 지급) ①수학대학장은 장학생의 국내체재 및 수학여부 등을 확 인하여 매월 생활비를 지급하여야 하며, 관련 서류를 비치하여야 한다.

②수학대학장은 석․박사학위과정생 및 연구생에게 연구계획서 또는 논문작성계획서 등을 확인한 후 매 학기 초 연구비를 지급하여야 한다. 제29조(생활비 및 연구비 지급 일시 중단) ① <삭제> ②일시 출국일수가 1회에 30일을 초과하는 경우에는 초과분에 대해서는 생활비를 지 급하지 아니한다. ③휴학기간에는 생활비 및 연구비를 지급하지 아니한다. ④한국어연수과정을 이수중인 자가 한국어연수기간(방학기간 포함) 중 일시출국하는 경우에는 한국어연수에 불참한 기간만큼 생활비를 지급하지 아니한다. 제30조(장학생 자격상실 및 장학금 지급중단) 다음 각 호의 1에 해당할 때에는 장학생 은 자격을 상실하고 장학금 지급을 중단한다. 1. 장학생 지원 관계서류 및 기타 제출서류를 허위로 작성하였을 때 2. 수학대학으로부터 징계처분을 받았거나 정치활동을 한 때 3. 교육원에 서약한 사항을 위반한 경우 4. 교육원이 정한 학사행정 조치사항에 따르지 아니한 때 5. <삭제> 6. 학위과정 또는 연구과정 재학 중 무단 수학 중단으로 수강을 신청한 과목의 총 학 점의 2/3 이상을 취득하지 못한 때 7. 휴학기간 종료 후 정당한 사유 없이 1개월 이내에 복학원서를 제출하지

제31조(등록금 자비부담) <삭제> 제32조(준용규정) 본 지침에 규정된 이외의 학사에 관한 사항에 관하여는 장학생의 소 속 수학대학의 학칙을 준용한다. 제33조(세부지침 운영) 본 지침에서 정하지 아니한 세부사항에 대하여는 수학대학에서 별도로 세부지침을 정하여 운영할 수 있다. 제34조(현지지도) 교육원장은 수시 또는 정기적으로 수학대학의 장학생 관리실태를 점 검, 현지지도 할 수 있으며 수학대학은 관리 서류 제출 등에 적극적으로 협조하여야 한다. 제35조(장학생 관리실적 평가) 교육원장은 수학대학에 대하여 장학생 관리 실적을 평가 하고, 그 결과를 장학생 위탁인원 배정 등에 반영할 수 있다. 제36조(관리현황 보고) 수학대학장은 <붙임1> 장학금 지급 세부지침에 의하여 반기별로 제반서류를 첨부하여 관리현황을 교육원장에게 보고하여야 한다.

□ Regulations for KGSP Award Holders Article 1 (objectives) The regulation is set to settle the things necessary for the arrangement of sound academic atmosphere and for the promotion of faithful study of Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) award holders. Article 2 (Korean language course) ① All KGSP award holders must take a preparatory Korean language training course for a year before taking a degree course. However, there are exceptions in cases that an award holder who gets admission to a master's or doctoral degree course. Award holders who fall into any of the following categories with the approval of the President of NIIED, are excused: 1. in case that s/he has level 5 in TOPIK 2. in case that s/he is able to study at a graduate school in Korea, satisfying any of the following conditions: - one who has majored in Korean literature or other Korean Studies for more than 4 years in a foreign university - one who has level 4 in TOPIK (including one of the following): ․ completed an undergraduate course of 4 years (or more or a graduate course of 2 years (or more) in Korea; ․ majored in Korean literature or other Korean Studies for more than 2 years in a foreign university; or ․ worked at a Korean public organization or Korean company for more than 2 years in or out of Korea. ② The President of NIIED can allow for award holders, who are enrolled at a degree course, to take an additional Korean language course that is held up to 6 months maximum (within the scope that the budget allows) on the request of the award holders' educational or research institute. absence by attaching an evidential document(s) such as a medical doctor's diagnosis. Article 7 Deletion Article 8 (Application for a degree course) ① Award holders who plan to apply for a degree course should consult the university staff in charge, one month prior to the application period of the university. The application for admission to a university depends on the policy set by the NIIED. ② When award holders submit application documents to the university, they should be recommended by the President of NIIED. ③ Deletion Article 9 (Notification of admission from a graduate school) In case that a graduate school permitted award holders to get admission, the graduate school should notify the NIIED of the admission within 10 days. Article 10 (Registration) Award holders should register at the university which they get admission to within the designated period for registration. Article 11 (Attendance) Award holders should faithfully attend the university they are enrolled at and get involved in their study. Article 12 (Periodical report on scholastic Condition) The university must report directly to the NIIED on award holders' study plan or academic achievement by submitting the following documents at the end of every semester. 1. An award holder of a research course : the progress of the research

for research or a report on research upon completion of research should be kept at the university) 2. An award holder taking a Korean language : a transcript of record and

a report

on course completion. 3. An award holder taking a degree course : a transcript of record, a report on degree acquisition and on course completion. Article 13 (Transfer of the university) An award holder who wants to transfer to another university on account of unavoidable reasons, should get permission in advance from the President of NIIED by submitting the following documents: 1. An application for transfer of the university.

2. A written opinion of the present academic advisor or an agreement on the transfer of the university. 3. A written opinion of an academic advisor of the university s/he wants to transfer to. Article 14 ① (Application for leave of absence) An award holder who wants to temporarily cease study on account of disease, other personal reasons, temporal summons by his/her own government, or for other unavoidable reasons,

should get

permission from the President of NIIED in advance by submitting the following documents. 1. A photocopy of M.D.'s diagnosis (only in the case caused by a disease), 2. An application for leave of absence, 3. A written opinion of the academic advisor and a leave-of-absence permit issued by the university. ② The university should report to the NIIED about the result of the award holder's application for leave of absence. Article 15 (Period of leave of absence) A period of leave of absence cannot exceed one year. It can be extended additionally up to one year only in cases caused by natural calamities, diseases or other unavoidable reasons approved by the university. Article 16 (Resumption of study and its notification) ① Award holders who want to resume their study should submit an application for resumption of study to the university they belong to, according to its regulations one month before the period of leave of absence ends. ② The university should immediately report to the NIIED about the result of the award holder's application for resumption of study. Article 17 (Notification of temporary departure) Award holders must get permission from the President of the Korean Language Institute ten days before they leave Korea by submitting a notification for temporary departure. Article 18 (Period of temporary departure) ① During the degree course, temporary departure can not exceed 30 days at a time and 90 days per year. But temporary departure due to participation in the academic conferences or collection of data related to their major subjects, or unavoidable cases approved by the university may be exceptionally permitted. ② The payment of scholarship related to temporary departure is by the item ② of

the article 29. ③ Temporary departure is not allowed during the Korean Language Training period. However, during vacation, it is allowed up to 2 weeks, with permission from the President of the Korean Language Institute. And in such inevitable situations, such as medical treatments or the death of a parent(s), it is allowed up to 2 weeks with permission from the President of the Korean Language Institute by submitting evidential documents. Article 19 (Notification of re-entry) Award holders who reenter Korea after the period of their temporary departure finishes should notify the university of their re-entry within 3 days after their re-entry by submitting a copy of their passport. Article 20 (Notification of completing or gaining the degree course) Deletion Article 21 ① (Writing a Thesis)

In principle, a thesis should be written in Korean.

However, if the university or the field of major requires an English thesis, the Korean abridgment is to be submitted. ② (Submission and Application for thesis printing expense) When notifying the NIIED of their home-return, award holders who have printed their thesis after their completion of the course with their own money may apply for reimbursement of thesis printing expense to the President of NIIED by submitting the following documents. 1. One copy of thesis of the degree course or research course 2. A confirmation of submission of the thesis 3. An application for reimbursement of thesis printing expense 4. A receipt of the payment of thesis printing expense called 'Segeumgaesanseo' in Korean. Article 22 (Notification of home-returning) ① When award holders want to return to their country due to the termination of their scholarship period or the cancellation of their study for unavoidable reasons, they should notify the university and the university should inform the NIIED of it 30 days before award holders' scholarship period ends or before they go back to their country by submitting the following documents. 1. An application for Home-Return, and 2. Deletion

3. A written opinion of academic advisor. ② In case that award holders who have failed achieving a degree within their scholarship period and stay in Korea for the purpose of the achieving a degree, their notification of home-return may be deferred up to 6 months (applicable for a master's degree candidate), or 12 months (applicable for a doctorate degree candidate) and the university also should inform of it 30 days before the termination of scholarship period. ③ Home-return allowance and an air-ticket for home-return are to be provided to an award holder who have notified the NIIED through the university with proper documents; however, this may not apply to award holders who want to stay in Korea for other reasons than earning a degree after the termination of scholarship period. Article 23 (Notification of change of address or telephone number) Award holders whose address or telephone number has been changed should submit a notification of change to the university and the university should notify the NIIED of it within 3 days after such changes. Article 24 (Period of scholarship payment) ① Apart from the one-year Korean language training course, scholarship period is 4 years for Bachelor's degree, 2 years for Master's degree and 3 years for Doctorate degree. Exceptionally, the period extended according to the article 27 is added to the original scholarship period. ② Period of scholarship of Case ① doesn't include the period of leave of absence. ③ Deletion ④ Scholarship for the research course is to be granted for 6 months or for one year. ⑤ Deletion Article24-1 (Arrangement of scholarship period) ① Deletion ② Deletion ③ Deletion Article 25 (Extension of the scholarship period) Master's degree award holders can apply for a six-month-extension of their scholarship period only one time, while doctorate degree award holders can apply for the six-month-extension up to two times within a year. Article 25-1 (Qualifications for applicants for extension of scholarship period) ① Those

who fall into the following cases are not qualified for application for extension of scholarship period, but with the exception for award holders who fall into the category 3 and get permission from the President of NIIED due to unavoidable reasons. 1. Award holders in research course. 2. Award holders in undergraduate course. 3. Degree course scholars whose GPA (grade point average) of whole course is below B°(80/100) 4. Award holders who have not earned the credits required for graduation within 4 semesters (for a master's degree candidate) or 6 semesters (for a doctoral degree candidate). ② Award holders who are applicable to "Article 30-1" lose one chance of application for scholarship period extension. Article 26 (Deduction of the extension period) ①-③ Deletion Article 27 (Application for extension of the scholarship period) Award holders of the degree course who need to extend the scholarship period should apply for the extension via the university prior to 2 months before their scholarship termination date and get approval from the President of NIIED by submitting the following documents. 1. An application for extension of the scholarship period, 2. A written opinion of the academic advisor, 3. A record of the course completion, 4. A transcript of school records for the whole course, 5. A sub-plan for writing thesis, 6. A synopsis of all the articles published in the domestic or international journals (applicable to those whose articles are published). Article 28 (Payment of living and research allowance) ① The university should pay the monthly living allowance with the confirmation of whether award holders are staying and studying in korea and also should keep the related documents. ② The university should pay the research allowance to master or doctoral degree course award holders at the beginning of every semester after checking out their sub-plan for the research and thesis writing.

Article 29 (Temporary suspension of living and research allowance) ① Deletion ② As for the temporary departure exceeding 30 days at one time, living allowance for the exceeding period is not to be given even though an award holder has got prior permission of the NIIED. ③ Living and research allowance for the period of leave of absence from study is not to be provided. ④ In case that an award holder in the Korean language course (including vacation) leave Korea temporarily, living allowance for the period when they do not attend the Korean language course is not to be provided. Article 30 (Cancellation of scholarship) ① If an award holder is found engaged in any of the following during their stay in Korea, their scholarship will be suspended or the scholarship amount provided to the student till at the time of being found must be returned to NIIED and the award holder will be deported back to their country. 1. Proof of falsehood of any statements made on any of the application materials being found and deficiency of qualification being found later, 2. When punished by the university or involved in any form of political activity, 3. When violating the regulations they have given pledge to the NIIED, 4. When not abiding by all conditions and regulations set by the NIIED, 5. Deletion 6. When not acquiring more than 2/3 of all of the credits of the courses registered due to the discontinuation of the study without permission from the NIIED, 7. When not submitting a request for re-enrollment to the university and not notifying the NIIED of re-enrollment without any proper reasons not later than one month after the period of leave of absence from study ends, 8. Deletion 9. When an award holder cancels their study in the half way, or 10. When a Korean-language course award holder fails to get admission for the degree course right after the end of the Korean language course. 11. When an award holder returns to his/her country of origin or to another country for the purpose of joining an exchange program or similar, operated by agreement on credit exchanges between the Korean and foreign universities. Article 30-1 (Warning) Award holders will be cautioned by the President of NIIED in

the following cases: 1. When an award holder is absent from the classes at the Korean language institute for more than 5 consecutive days at one time or for more than ten days per month cumulatively; 2. When an award holder leaves Korea without permission from the President of NIIED, fails to notify the NIIED of his/her temporary departure, or does not return to Korea after the period of permission. 3. When the GPA (grade point average) of an award holder is below 80/100 (graduate course) or 70/100 (undergraduate course) in a semester. Article 31 (Tuition fee to be borne by the award holders) Deletion Article 32 (Regulation to be followed) As for other items not stipulated in the NIIED regulations, award holders should abide by the rules of the university they attend. Article 33 (Detailed guidelines for management) The university can set up a detailed guideline for management regarding regulations which are not stipulated in the NIIED regulations. Article 34 (Field Monitoring(Supervising)) The President of NIIED can supervise

the

universities that manage award holders on a regular basis or on occasion and

the

universities should actively cooperate in the supervision by submitting managerial documents required. Article 35 (Evaluation of management) The President of NIIED lays down the criteria for evaluating universities and refers to the result of evaluation when allocating the number of award holders for each university next year. Article 36 (Report of management status) The university should report to the NIIED semi-annually of its management status by submitting a report with relevant documents attached according to the detailed guidelines for scholarship (Attachment 1).
