Introduction Paul Clarke is a London-based graphic designer, educated internationally with South African and European roots. I have worked with clients across a variety of sectors as a multi- disciplined designer in London, Paris, Finland, United States and South Africa. With skills including branding, marketing, print, illustration and digital, my thought-provoking work delivers a clear and relevant result, regardless of scale or budget. With over 10 years of experience in this industry, I understand the process of planning and execution from pixels to print. Whether it’s basic HTML front end design or complex flash enhanced graphics and game play, I pride myself on producing agency quality solutions. When designing for iPhone, GUI or websites, I understand and produce well executed site schematics that present visually pleasing aesthetics across all disciplines. My conceptual ideas are strong and I play an integral part in any team. I deliver on time and to the briefs requirements, often with award status. My career is about achieving the highest calibre of work, whether its winning awards or designing pro bono. I aspire to create something new everyday. Travelling, fashion, print-making, digital collage, photography, drawing, painting and screen printing are all among my personal interests. iPhone app

We were asked to produce an iPhone app to promote the bands up and coming tour dates and new album release. This would includes such features as video streaming, live tour updates, image gallery, discography and Near me functionality.

A website launch accompanied with a banner campaign. The website was created to engage the user to interact with a landscape created with the new VF4 bike elements. Data capture was implemented as a promo mechanic, this entered the user into a competition.

The website was created to launch the new We Sing game for Nintendo. The rich media involved integrating flash with HTML which allowed the user to change backgrounds and listen to there favourite songs via the rotating carousel.

Description The initial concept was to promote a Kinky Afro album release. The banner campaign drove traffic to the microsite convincing the user that they were visiting high end flash integrated game. When the user arrived at the site, they were in for a nice surprise!

New album launch integrated campaign.

When the user arrived at the microsite they were prompted in 80’s DOS commands to continue. The game involved choosing a star to play a bat & ball style retro game. You could also view the TV spots, posters and play snippets of the songs featured on the album.

Description

Commercial ‘Beach’ One of three TV spots created for the album launch. ‘Beach’ was my favourite as the irony contained the true history and lack of compassion that was apparent in the South African 80’s culture.

The album was a CD but reflected a vinyl print to give the illusion of record. The flash drives were embedded into old school cassettes to add to the 80’s flavour.

Plascon

Project Website

Description I had produced a website for Plascon paints. The concept I delivered was a set that built up of the word ‘IMAGINE’. This was built by an army of decorators that changed colours and background appearance. The navigation was painted on and different textures were applied as the user explored further.

Bushmills

Description

Website, banner campaign and TV spots

These are some of the templates designed for the Bushmills interactive game. A time machine was created to take the user back to the year 1608 where they could play to win a Macbook air. The site was a great success and achieved a Clio and Loerie gold award.

A basic HTML template was created to let the work speak for its self. This was the main objective. I have incorporated campaign imagery in the background that would reflect across all HS&P brands to make all templates within the company structure uniform.

Description

Adidas running brochure

The ring bound printed running brochure was created to showcase all aspects of the Adidas new running range. A map of South Africa illustrated a runner’s journey, thoughts and experiences. The hand drawn typographic elements were applied to the brochure. Products were showcased on various illustrated backgrounds giving an urban look and feel.

Description Joe Public is a successful advertising company based in Johannesburg, South Africa . They approached the Gloo team in Cape town to conceptualise their website. We decided to take 11 personal items from the owners and staff and place them on the website. These simply gave the user an insight to the people that work for Joe Public.

Description

BT Talk trait microsite

The website was produced to gauge what sort of personality BT customers relate to. Are you a ‘Happy Chatter’ or an ‘Impersonal organiser’. A questionnaire was set up to encourage the user to take part in a quiz to find out their Talk trait. Once the user had entered their details, it was automatically entered into a competition to win a holiday for two.
