Dear friends, look what you did last year… We’ve closed another full and busy year and have embarked on a new one which is shaping up to be just as full, challenging, and fulfilling. Momentously, we have entered our 35th year of service to the Louisville community. It was especially fun as we turned 35 to be honored by Spalding University with the Spirit of Social Work Award! Thanks to each of you for making the accomplishments of 2016 possible. There is not enough space to tell you about all the great things that happened over the past year but please come for a tour or just join us for a conversation about the exciting things going on at Wellspring through your support. Charlie Merrill, Certified Peer Support Specialist, leads a group.

Embracing the electronic age

A major accomplishment in 2016 was the 10-month roll out of our first EHR (Electronic Health Record). It may sound dull but this is HUGE! We owe the James Graham Brown Foundation a very large debt of gratitude for their support in making it happen. Our EHR team was phenomenal and we now have a state of the art system that is elevating client care, strengthening quality controls, streamlining billing, and positioning us for future endeavors as a Behavioral Health Services Organization. Wellspring’s 2016 Board

A record year

Last year was another record year in numbers of people served: 752 people received supportive housing, affordable housing, and/or crisis stabilization services. We saw the largest growth in our scattered site supportive housing services – an area that often goes unnoticed as many still think of Wellspring as just a bricks and mortar provider.

The one thing that we have learned we can count on in our field is constant change. We don’t know how changes to health care will impact our work but we know the need will not disappear. Until mental illness is cured, there will be a need for rehabilitative services, supportive housing, and crisis intervention. We are beyond grateful, that we can count on our supporters to be there with us, too. We will not let you down. With Gratitude,

Wellspring Works

Our supportive employment program, Wellspring Works, really got rolling and garnered state-wide attention. The program opened for referrals in March 2016 and has a current caseload of 32 clients. The only criteria is a desire to work. Our staff have worked with hospitals, florist shops, and small and large businesses to help clients find jobs that match their skills and interests.
