Thank You

The USC Athletic Boosters would like the thank the hole sponsors, contributors, participants and businesses for sponsoring the 2013 USC Athletic Booster Golf Tournament again this year. The money raised by the USC Athletic Boosters is used for funding equipment, awards, and items needed to meet the needs of the student athletes. Because of the tremendous support, the Boosters have been able to recently purchase items such as the new batting cage at Halfmoon Park, portable defibrillator, new basketball backboards, new water fountain to fill water bottles, iPads to record sports stats, coaching clinics for all sports, updated all the track hurdles, two new elliptical machines, and wireless head sets for football. This equipment helps improve athletic performance and techniques for our athletes. The boosters have donated money to improve the baseball field at Thompson Park and rebuild the shot putt and discuss area for Track.

Green Tea/Coffee May Reduce Stroke Risk Drinking green tea or coffee may help lower the risk of stroke. A recent study looked at data on 83,000 men and women 45 to 74 years old and found that during the 13-year followup, those who drank 2-3 cups of green tea a day had a 14% lower risk. Those who drank 4 cups reduced their risk by 20%. It also found those who drank at least one cup of coffee a day had a 20% reduced risk. Finding held even after researchers accounted for gender, age, smoking, alcohol use, weight, diet and exercise. Researchers think this effect might be due to the anti-clotting properties of these drinks.
