PRINCIPAL’S REPORT It has been a fantastic end to the Year with the Secondary School Speech Night, and the Year 12 Graduation Dinner held last Thursday and attended by 130 people. I want to thank the staff, students and parents for the work that went into making these two events very memorable for our students. After 13 years of learning at St Anthony’s our Year 12s venture into new pathways and we wish them all the very best for the future ahead of them, We look forward to seeing them at Old Collegian events coming up in mid 2011. The Secondary School is also in exam mode and students are busy studying hard. Our Primary Students in Grade 5 and 6 both graduated over the last two weeks, with wonderful liturgies in our newly renovated chapel and enjoyed lunch with a number of parents. Thank you for supporting our students as they venture into our new Middle School.

Our shopping centre marketing has come to an end, but we were very pleased with the number of responses and we have at least 40 new students entering the college next year. A special thank you to the parents and the staff who gave up their days, afterschool, and weekends to help us promote our College to the Frankston community. I would particularly like to thank Mrs Iskander for all her work to form new St Anthony’s choir which has grown steadily in the number despite a slow start. We look forward to hearing your beautiful voices throughout the school, local area and churches in the future.

Finally, Orientation Week is almost here and all our students will be promoted to their new levels for one week. This is to ensure that we have our timetables working well for next year and that the students are ready to start on the 4th February 2011. This is a Friday, so be careful as we have changed our plans from this year. The return to school on a Friday will also allow us to ensure that everything is running to plan, students have their books and materials and ready for the start of work on the following Monday. ALL BOOKLISTS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE COLLEGES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. All students are expected to start school with ALL of the books and materials sent home on the booklist. Year 5 Graduation Tuesday 23rd November saw the Year 5 students contemplate the end of Primary school and the beginning of a new chapter in 2011 when they enter the Middle school. The students all arrived at school dressed to impress and ready to celebrate. The day started with a special Divine Liturgy taken by Father Daniel. It was a lovely Mass and Father Daniel spoke really beautifully about how there are rewards for effort in life He reminded the students that everyone has a special gift given by God. Many parents were also able to be with us for the Divine Liturgy. We all left school to head off to lunch at Saganaki at Docklands. It was a long way but well worth it. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent. More parents joined us there and we all had a fantastic time. At the end of lunch the students were each given a Bible donated by Deacon David and presented by Father Daniel to remind them of the wonderful day they had had. Ms. Anthea Christian Head of primary

“St Anthony’s strives for excellence and reward academic achievement”

Dear Supporters of the College I have just recently learned that for unemployed people if you volunteer at the school in the field that you are attempting to find work in not only can you add it to your resume as experience but it counts as approved voluntary activities and actually can go towards your Centrelink work plan. I have vacancies starting in the new school year for ♦ in classrooms listening to students read ♦ To assist teachers with specialised subject areas ♦ In admin with various tasks to help the school run smoothly ♦ Assistance in grounds maintenance especially to establish our new gardens around our new building Are there skills you have that you would like to use? Can we assist you in building up your work experience? Do you know anyone who could benefit from helping the school? Please contact Alyssa Gray at the school 97863145 or via email adgray@stanthonys.vic.edu.au or mobile 0415066901 Hoping your festive season and summer vacation is happy and safe!
