It is available in a variety of flexible shelving and lighting options enabling it to be utilised for a range of applications. The shelves can easily be added or removed by the user giving maximum flexibility and ease of use. It has been designed with the user in mind and as such has a host of features that reflect this, such as the SIMPAC controller and Colour Touch Panel for programming, digital safety thermostat, and eye level controls. The 3.5 inch TFT Colour Touch Panel allows a wide range of user programmable options to be selected. Temperature and humidity conditions can be set at the touch of a button, as can day/night timings. SIMPAC also features a 100 program memory, graphical representation of conditions inside the chamber, a USB port for a data storage device and an ethernet connection.

SGC 120 Insect Incubation Chamber The Fitotron SGC 120 Insect Incubation Chamber provides a solution to Entomologist’s needs to study and store Drosophila, Bees, Mosquitoes & other insects within a controllable environment. High Specification Plant Growth Chambers The Fitotron High Specification Plant Growth Chambers (HGC) are based on a modular design. Should your research requirements change then the chamber can be adapted to the new situation by exchanging or retrofitting individual modules. As well as 3 chamber sizes, it is possible to modify: light source and intensity, airflow direction, temperature range and internal maximum growing height. This flexible design allows the chambers to be modified for different applications and as such provides a ‘future-proof’ investment. HGC 1014 Plant Growth Chamber
The HGC range uses a combination of different lamps to simulate a daylight spectrum. Through the use of high frequency fluorescent lamps, dimming of light intensity from 10% to 100% is standard. Dawn and dusk is simulated by the addition of a high proportion of red light. As an option, the height of the lamps can be adjusted using an external motor. This ensures that the growing conditions remain constant and the plants are not disturbed. Metal Halide lamp modules with higher light intensity of 700 and 1000 mmols @ 500mm are available. The lamps are installed in a separate air-cooled lamp compartment, together with the UV light source.

Airflow Both horizontal and vertical airflow are standard. The plenum wall and floor design ensures a low air velocity whilst guaranteeing a high degree of temperature/humidity uniformity.

Standard Growth Rooms are available with growth area sizes from 1.4m2 to 24.5m2, and are available with lighting up to 500 mmol. m-²s-¹ with full humidity control. Plant Growth Rooms Fitotron High Specification Growth Rooms The Fitotron High Specification Growth Rooms (HGR) modular in design. Light intensity, growth height, temperature range and type of airflow can all be selected by the user. The standard airflow is vertical via a perforated floor. Growth area ranges from 4m2 to 12m2. Multi-tier Cultivation Rooms The Multi-Tier Cultivation Rooms (MCR) from Weiss Gallenkamp have been specifically designed to be suited to a variety of different plant growth applications. They are ideal for research involving Arabidopsis and similar sized plants. MCR’s can be assembled and fully operational within a short space of time, making them the ideal solution for immediate requirements. In addition to this, MCR’s can be fitted with a number of different shelf and lighting options to suit a wide range of biological applications Lighting Lighting can be specified by the user, and is available in racks of 3 or 4 tiers. Lighting racks can be purchased independently of the room itself, and are delivered as complete, free-standing ‘plug and play’ units, incorporating the growing surface, lighting and air distribution. Each lighting bank ensures even distribution of airflow across the shelves, resulting in minimum temperature variations. Lighting in the MCR range provides medium intensity of 250 µmol m-2s-1 @ 300mm for the 3 tier version, and 180 µmol m-2s-1 @ 300mm for the 4 tier version. Lighting racks are supplied with fluorescent lamps, each level of which is individually dimmable from an intensity of 100% down to 10%. LED lighting can also be fitted if required. Users also have the option of adding light boxes, within which specimens can be cultured at different temperature and lighting conditions to the plants grown on the open light racks, so users can have different conditions within the same room. Control The MCR range features the latest touch screen controller, conveniently mounted on the front of the room. Refrigeration Cooling for the MCR range is designed for maximum energy efficiency, as the unit senses when it is required to be in operation. This is far more efficient than other ‘continuous compressor operation’ systems whilst maintaining the same close control of environmental conditions. Humidity An optional humidifier can be added, giving a humidity range of 50% rh to 80% rh lights off, and 50% rh to 75% rh lights on. The use of steam to generate humidity produces sterile atomized water which is the safest and cleanest method of humidification, eliminating risk of airborne contamination such as Legionella.
