Pilates Begins at Community Center KITTerY – Pilates classes will be offered at 7:15 a.m. on Mondays, beginning March 11, at Kittery Community Center, 120 Rogers Road. Pilates is a conditioning system of exercises that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It focuses on developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and

balance. Different levels of difficulty will be presented so this class is suitable for beginner as well as for advanced students. Sponsored by the Kittery Recreation Department, the six-week series is open to adults age 18 and over. Cost is $50. Free Wellness Art Program Offered YOrK – An Art HOPE Creativity Gathering, a free program of creative wellness for all ages, will launch its spring series at York Public Library, 15 Long Sands

Road. Sessions are set 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, and on April 3 and May 1. The drop-in art studio will feature painting and drawing,

Over-55 Fitness Classes Slated KITTerY – A series of programs designed to promote fitness in mature adults ages 55 and over will be offered this month by the Kittery Recreation Department. Classes will be held at the Kittery Community Center, 120 Rogers Road. Chair yoga, a gentle form of yoga practiced sitting in a chair or standing and using a chair for support, is slated 9 to

10 a.m. on Thursdays, March 7 through April 11. The program is appropriate for those with arthritic joints, with limited mobility, who are rehabilitating from injury or who would prefer a gentle approach to the practice. Cost for the class is $50.
