Fall Theme

Our ceremony and reception were both held at Pastures of Plenty Organic Farm just outside of Boulder, Colorado. Instead of the traditional readings people usually hear at weddings we instead went with a Native American Blessing.

The reception took place immediately following the ceremony on a different area of the lawn. Craft beers (mostly from CO) and wines were served. All the food was organic and incredible! The entertainment for the evening was a friends’ bluegrass band, Hunker Down.

Inspiration

Our wedding inspiration was “Organic Garden Chic.” We kept a color palette of khaki, navy blue,, yellow and shades of green.

Special Touches

We included a “wish tree” made out of decorative green and white paper in each invitation. We asked our guests to send it back with their RSVP with a special note to the bride and groom. We then took all these and tied them with twine to the centerpiece of the dessert table.

Escort Cards

Each table was themed after a specific seed packet (ie carrots, basil, beet, squash, etc.) Each guest was given a seed packet with their name on it. The packets were hung from old wooden ladders that had twine and clothes pins that displayed the packets.

Décor & Centerpieces

We put soil in vintage wine carafes and then planted the seeds for the table theme. Each carafe was growing the actual table theme in the carafe come wedding day. We also put a tall stick and attached the seed packet and burlap trip to the top so people would know what each table theme was. In addition we had greens and flowers from the farm that served as a table runner on top of the burlap runner we had on the long “farm style” tables.

Signature food & drinks

We served 901 Tequila Margaritas for drinks and had cupcakes/cakepops from Tee & Cakes in Boulder, as well as S’moreskits.

Gateway Canyons

We chose to have a desination wedding at Gateway Canyons because of the beautiful atmosphere, the stunning canyon views and red rock backdrops. There were also great accommodations for our guests and plenty of activities for them to do while there such as horse back riding, rafting, hiking, guided ATV, air tours, spa pool, hot tub and the famous auto museum. There is an event coordinator to help with ideas regarding the facility.

Memorable Moment

Since we did all of the pictures before the ceremony so the guests would not have to wait for us after the ceremony, my most memorable moment was when the bridesmaids and I were walking to see John for the first time all dressed up and the moment we saw each other. Our family and friends were there to see us and that made it special.

Touching Sight

It appeared magical as the wedding party topped the small knoll and walked towards the Mission Bell The guests were also treated with a beautiful canyon backdrop. It was unique in the fact my Father and Step-father both accompanied me down the isle. Guests later told us it was a very touching sight.

Destination Decision

Having a mountain destination wedding helped keep our celebration intimate, which was important to us.

Photo Divine

The ceremony was held at the Mission Bell Amphitheater. We chose this location for the spectacular backdrop of the red rocks and canyons. It offered an intimate setting while plenty of seating for 125 guests.

Theme

Our theme was “country elegance” with a burnt orange and charcoal color palette.

Décor

Gateway is so beautiful that we did not want to take away from the scenery with big centerpieces, so we had 4 inch terracotta pots with a variety of little cactus and pebbles surrounding them with a card resembling our “save the date” cards and our names and the wedding date.

Favors

My stepmother made white chocolate horseshoes and wrapped in a clear bag tied with orange ribbon.

Reception

The reception was held at the Entrada Restaurant and Lounge. We chose this location because we did not want a formal reception atmosphere. However, it is intimate and upscale. There was indoor and outdoor seating for guests to choose from. We stayed with our guests until we had to leave the reception. There was music and dancing. There were fire pits on the patio at the Entrada and we made s’mores which was very exciting, mostly for the young children.

Backyard Story by the bride, Lindsey

Bliss

Planning

I had a large number of family friends and family memebers help me plan the wedding. My mother, matron of honor and my brother’s mother in law did just about everything.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place in my parent’s backyard in Grand Junction, CO. Both of my parents walked me down the aisle!

Special Touches

The ceremony was memorable because the reverend told us things that we had separately told her and that we had not told each other. Her words were a surprise. She also acknowledged family members that we had lost during the ceremony including my younger brother.

Real Life Photographs

Mike proposed to me with my Grandmother’s engagement ring!

Favorite Detail

My favorite detail was the little green turtle that belonged to my brother that was pinned onto one of the flowers in my bouquet. It reminded me that he was there with us in spirit.

Theme

We wanted to have a backyard garden theme using azalea pink, navy, and light blue and light pink as our colors. There was just something about the lights and the clear tent that made it so amazing.

Centerpieces

Our centerpieces were simple arrangements of garden flowers and over 20 pairs of decorative birds that I borrowed from my aunt.

Escort Cards

My aunt made a little fabric

flower pin to put on each card that we strung around a tree.

Cake

A family friend made the cake donated the money that we paid for the cake to an orphanage in South America.

Getaway

We didn’t want to leave because we were having so much fun. Our friends threw birdseed as we walked to the bus that we had arranged to take us and some of our guests back to the hotel.

Our first dance was under the café lights to Ray Charles’ “I’m Going to Love You” was amazing.

The Ceremony

We held our ceremony at 5:30 pm outside on the beautiful lawn surrounded by nature. It had rained at exactly at 5:30pm every day for the last week. Fortunately, on our wedding day, there was no rain!

Jenna Walker Photographers

Escort Cards

Our escort cards were buttons that not only contained the table number, but also each guests’ relationship to us.

Cake

My mom made the adorable bread and butter cake toppers.

Table Decor

Each table setting had a white vase and tulip with a handwritten thank you card.

Guest Book

Our guests wrote heart-felt messages on note cards and clipped them with clothes pins to our wish board.

Favorite Detail

We had an artist painting us and the beautiful surroundings during the ceremony.

Bluegrass

We had a bluegrass band from Paonia, Colorado called Sweet Sunny South. They are very talented and kept our guests dancing throughout the night. We learned several dances at the welcome party that fit perfectly with their music.

Crazy Love

Our first dance was to ‘Crazy Love’ by Van Morrison. JB and I took ballroom dancing lessons and learned steps specific to the music. We realized we forgot our Ipod with the song, so our friend Scott sang it with the band. They had very little time to rehearse it all together, but it worked out beautifully.

There was a double rainbow the night before our wedding. It was one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen. Everyone thought it was a sign of good luck for JB and I. I couldn’t help but look around at our family and friends and think about how lucky we were at that moment.

SHREDand be WED!

Memorable Moment

Jeff and I were married at the Copper Mountain Chapel by his grandfather on a blue sky, beautiful day. We said our personal vows to each other in front of the huge window showing the sky chutes on the back side of Breckenridge. We quickly took pictures at the Chapel and then raced to get our snowboarding boots on catch last chair!

The ride up the lift with Jeff was the best moment of the day. We were married, alone, the stress was done, and we were about to go snowboarding!

Kay Beaton Photography

Fur & Lace

I wore a beautiful fur and lace jacket over my dress, some gloves, and goggles! The dress I purchased was the dress that Jeff saw in a magazine once and said he really liked it. It was the first one I tried on too! I wore purple glitter shoes for the ceremony and had custom made purple converse all stars with our wedding date embroidered on the side for the reception.

Kay Beaton Photography

Boarding Bliss

After the ceremony, most of the wedding party, including my dad, snowboarded down the mountain in our wedding attire! There were 60 mph winds up top and I froze for a moment, but once we got down a little further it was perfect! Everyone just wanted to go, go, go and shred it up. People were doing tricks, my veil kept flying off (my groom would catch it)or getting run over, and some people took a few spills. I will NEVER forget that run! When we made it to the bottom, there were people cheering for us everywhere!

Kay Beaton Photography

Keepsake

I think my favorite detail at the reception was signing in on the snowboard. I can’t wait to have the top laminated and have it forever!

Memorable Moment

One of the highlights was arriving at the reception on our snowboards with everyone cheering for us! After the girls fixed their hair after our shred session, we were introduced at The Grand Hall at Copper Mountain.

Stunning Views

One of my most favorite details was my experience upon arriving to the Garden of the Gods Club. I am used to being in Colorado Springs, but I had never seen a view like I saw from my Garden of the Gods Club hotel room. The view took my breath away. You could see the beautiful Red Rocks of the Garden of the Gods Club park in front of the gorgeous view of the Rocky Mountains with Pikes Peak standing in the middle. The fall colors were in full steam and brought so much energy to view.

Perfect Plans

It was wonderful how perfectly everything panned out, from the location, to the florist, to the wedding planner, to the band and musicians, and the Garden of Gods Club staff. Everyone worked so hard to make this wonderful wedding happen.

Special Guests

A buck was in attendance at our wedding. We found this out after the ceremony, but were very happy he decided to watch us get married! Bobcats were also seen by a lot of guests around the Garden of the Gods Club. For those not from Colorado, it was an exciting experience.

We chose the Garden of the Gods Club in Colorado Springs because I grew up visiting the area every summer since I was born. My grandparents have owned property out there since the 1960s.

Fall Theme

We wanted to have a formal fall wedding with a classic, chic feel. Our color palette was tea green and brown. We also incorporated other colors that you think of during the Fall season: burnt orange, deep yellow, bright Red.

Van Buren Photography

DĂŠcor

The centerpieces were Fallinspired. Some were tall on scrolled iron stands topped with a beautiful arrangement of mixed flowers featuring seasonal flowers such as Dahlias, roses, lilies, berries, calla lilies They were designed with a natural look and feel to compliment the venue. The arrangements also included twigs with hanging electric tea lights.

Favors

Guests received welcome boxes upon arriving that had a beer, candy, snack food all indigenous to Colorado Springs. We also put a customized pamphlet that had a Colorado Springs map in it, along with a list of local attractions. At the wedding, we gave out cookies at the end of the night packaged with a customized wedding sticker.

First Dance

We danced to “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King. We didn’t practice for this moment, but no one seemed to notice!

Van Buren Photography

After Party

Soul X, the best band ever, played till midnight and most everyone at the reception was dancing. The other guests enjoyed the outside breeze along with the open full bar!

Steamboat Sweethearts Photography by Frances Photography Story by the bride, Jess

We really wanted our wedding to be unique and from the heart – by taking inspiration from beautiful images. So intimate, natural, and personal was our goal – Colorado style!

Frances Photography

Destination: Steamboat

Our wedding ‘weekend’ in Steamboat consisted of 3 days of events, all located at the absolutely gorgeous Bella Vista Estate, in Steamboat Springs.  Both Jim and I live in CO, myself a native. But for a lot of our guests, it was their first visit, so our intention was to really show them why we love it here!

Mother Nature Plays Her Part

The day of the wedding started off sunny & gorgeous, with an unparalleled view of all of Steamboat valley. But, if you live in CO, you know that is subject to change at any time - and it most definitely did! Although the storm left us in the rain, hail & lightning for our ceremony, it also left us with an amazing, majestic double rainbow afterwards.  With all our guests soaked by the rain, something completely unexpected happened... it created an incredibly fun and relaxed, elated environment - everyone was really able to let go and truly enjoy themselves!

Frances Photography

Memorable Moment

Walking down the aisle barefoot seemed so natural and fitting, we all just loved it.

Handmade Touches

Everything had a handmade touch in order to keep it intimate, natural, and personal. So, virtually everything was handmade – the invitations, to mine and bridesmaids’ jewelry, and the centerpieces & decorations, name place settings. We even spent a weekend earlier in the summer re-finishing old wooden skis, which we used as our “guest book”, which are now proudly hanging in our living room.  Jim ordered custom-tailored attire for the groomsmen, and all were given personalized belt buckles and belts, he selected himself. We set up a camera and made a corner of the tent into a ‘photobooth’, and passed out light-up masquerade masks - ensuing hilarious images that will last us forever.

Reception

The reception was also held at the Bella Vista. We kicked it off with a bang - running into the tent waving a huge Colorado flag, and dancing to great music. Immediately thereafter the whole wedding party jumped right into pulling all of the guests up to the floor to dance.  It really started the whole night off right!

Saying Goodbye

The day after the wedding, many of us went in to town and floated the Yampa River on tubes - basking in the sun and the glory of the previous day. Later that night, we all took a Gondola ride to a restaurant on the top of the mountain to watch the sun set over the valley, saying farewell to an absolutely unforgettable weekend!
