Where the old meets new

The heart of the Emirates

Compromising of seven emirates – Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Sharjah, the UAE is one of the world’s fastest growing tourist destinations, a melting pot of cultures with all the right ingredients for an unforgettable holiday experience.

Dubai is a city of contrasts, a land where old and new meet, traditional and modern, east and west, that blend seamlessly to create a fascinating destination.

With some of the finest hotels in the world, miles of golden sandy beaches and warm seas, state-of-the-art shopping malls, exotic souks, superb restaurants, stunning desert and mountain landscapes, the UAE is a truly unique destination for you to explore.

Dubai is easily the entertainment, shopping, sports and culinary capital of the Middle East. It is home to some of the world’s finest hotel chains and dining options. Recreational facilities are available in abundance and the entertainment ranges from traditional celebrations to trendy discotheques. The numerous shopping malls feature some of the world’s best brands at competitive prices and the Dubai Shopping Festival in February is every shoppers delight. Dubai is a safe city with sunny weather virtually all year round. Add to all this, the pristine beaches and the breath-taking landscapes of the desert makes it easy to see why Dubai is an exciting year-round destination.

City of Merchants. Dubai City Tour A fascinating historical excursion; our route takes us from Burj Al Arab, Dubai’s landmark hotel to Majlis Al Ghorfat, a magnificent structure constructed in 1955 and recently restored. The Majlis was originally the summer residence of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al-Maktoum. Driving past modern palaces, we stop at the Jumeirah Mosque for a photo opportunity. Our route then takes us towards Dubai’s Bastakia area to admire the old-wind-towered houses which were built by wealthy merchants, passing the magnificent Zabeel Palace on the way. Further on, we visit the Al Fahidi Fort, a 200-yearold structure that houses the Dubai Museum and records the city’s past as an important pearl diving and trading centre. We continue our journey on a traditional abra, across the Creek, offering sights of a modern metropolis, with splendid architecture on its banks, dwarfing the bustling alleys of our next destination – the gold and spice souks.

A Capital Adventure. Abu Dhabi City Tour* Starting from Dubai, we travel past the world's largest manmade port at Jebel Ali and onward for a two hour drive along a coastal desert road lined with acacia trees, to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Here you will see modern interpretations of Arabian architecture in the many skyscrapers, villas and palaces that line our route along the Riviera-style Corniche. A new addition is the majestic Sheikh Zayed Mosque, the third largest in the world, named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first President of the United Arab Emirates. We stop here for a photo opportunity of this Islamic architectural masterpiece. We then visit the Heritage Village where souks, an old fishing village and bedouin tents have been replicated to give you a feel of traditional life in Abu Dhabi. After lunch, we drive by the iconic Emirates Palace Hotel. On our way back to Dubai we will visit the Manarat al Saadiyat, a purpose built visitor centre showcasimg upcoming developments in Abu Dhabi. We then cross onto Yas Island and stop at the Yas Hotel, which houses the Yas Marina Formula 1 Race circuit for short break and a photo opportunity. *Lunch not included in the tour price. * We kindly ask all visitors to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque (on the Abu Dhabi City Tour) to respect this place of prayer and dress appropriately upon arrival; if not entry will be denied. East Coast Tour*

Dune Dinner Safari

Drive by the mosque-shaped Sharjah International Airport, designed by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, the ruler of Sharjah. Continue through a multi-hued desert landscape to the oasis of Dhaid, before journeying through spectacular mountain scenery. Just before Masafi, you can shop at the local crafts, pottery and carpet market. In the mountains, we stop for a stunning view of the canyon and the wadis showing tracks used by nomads in early days. We then drive to Dibba, a picturesque fishing village. After lunch, we continue to the Bidiyah Mosque, the oldest and smallest in the United Arab Emirates, before following the coast to the lovely green town of Khor Fakkan. We visit a 300-year-old fort before proceeding to the village of Fujairah, abandoned when mountain dwellers moved away from oil exploration to start a fishing village. Our last stop before the return journey is Bithnah oasis. Here you may photograph (from a distance) the impressive fort still guarding the mountain pass, once the only access to Fujairah. Lunch not included in the tour price.

The mysterious desert beckons you for a magical evening out - an adventure you'll never forget. Leaving behind the bustle of the city in the afternoon, our safari guides will transport you, by four-wheel drive vehicles, for a thrilling journey over rolling dunes through the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, deep into the heart of the desert. From the crest of a high dune, watch the sun cast its orange glow over the vast expanse of rippling sand all round you as it sets. Like a shimmering mirage in the distance you will see the flickering lights of your camp where a traditional Arabian welcome awaits you. The encampment conjures up images of the Arabian nights. Relax on comfortable low cushions in Bedu tents and quench your thirst, have your hands painted with intricate henna designs, experience a short camel ride, or just enjoy the aromatic shisha. A feast of grilled meats, fresh salads and delectable Arab sweets is served and under a galaxy of stars, you will be entertained by the bewitching belly dancer swaying to the haunting strains of Arabian music. You won't want this enchanting evening to end.

Desert and Mountain Safari*

Camel Riding and Sandboarding Safari

This off-road adventure takes in some of the roughest, most dramatic and varied terrain in the country. Leave Dubai on a journey through traditional villages over tumbling dunes. Stop for a picture opportunity at Fossil Rock, an awe-inspiring monolith, towering over the surrounding desert landscape, is embedded with fossils more than 80 million years old, recalling the time when this part of Arabia was covered by sea. Your safari then takes you into the tricky escarpment of the Hajar Mountains, the jagged mountain range that runs down the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula, where canyons line our route. We follow the trails of the wadis and stop for an alfresco picnic lunch in one of the wadis. After lunch, we drive on to the Hatta Heritage Village to visit the restored fort converted to a museum which provides historical insight of the area.

The contrast between the ancient 'Bedu' lifestyle and one of the world's latest sports makes this an unforgettable tour. Leaving Dubai in the morning, your four-wheel drive vehicle takes you far into the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, where you meet your camel caravan for a half-hour ride across the spectacular red dunes. After your camel ride, you will try for one of the world's newest and most exciting sports - sandboarding. Just strap on your sand boards, draw a deep breath and take an exhilarating rush down the steep-sided dunes to the floor of the valley below. Return to the city at around noon. It is mandatory that guests wear closed casual shoes in order to go sandboarding.

*Tour is available in winter only.

This fascinating tour takes you to the two emirates of Sharjah and Ajman. Housed in an ancient fort, Ajman's enchanting museum will give you intriguing insights into lifestyles prior to the discovery of oil. We pass the King Faisal Mosque and Al Ittihad Monument, both built to honour the memory of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who was responsible for subsidising the development of Sharjah. While returning we will stop at the creek for an opportunity to photograph colourful dhows and visit the 165 year-old Al Naboodah House, which vividly recalls the way of life of a wealthy pearl trading family. We will walk through the Al Arsah Souk, one of the few remaining traditional market places and the Blue Souk, where more than 600 shops sell carpets, gold, silver, antiques and perfumes. We return to Dubai in time for lunch.

Proceeding to Al Ain Palace Museum, an old fortress which was the residence of the late ruler Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan from 1927 until the early 1970s, we can view interesting displays, including a collection of family portraits that offer an insight into the way the royal family lived and entertained. We reach Al Ain's National Museum after which we take a short walk through an oasis with the ancient falaj irrigation system. After lunch, we stop at a traditional camel market on our return journey to Dubai. Lunch not included in the tour price

All information is correct at the time of going to print. However, hotels and services offered are subject to change without prior notice. Valid between 1st November 2011 and 31st October 2012 Hotels offering the facility of 24-hour check-in/check-out will apply this policy to all bookings and will not offer the option for passengers to book rooms based on standard check-in/check-out times. A night booked at hotels offering the facility of 24-hour check-in/check-out entitles the passenger(s) to stay for a period of 24-hours from their time of arrival at the airport. All check-out times will be in multiples of 24-hours thereof. For example, a guest who arrives at Dubai International Airport at 5am on a certain day must check-out from the hotel by 5am on the day he/she plans to leave, otherwise an extra day will be charged, even if the stay is extended by a few hours.
