The Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna (mumok) is the largest museum for modern and contemporary art in Central Europe with an extensive collection of international art from the 20th its permanent collection and changing contemporary exhibitions presented over 4500m², mumok is the ideal location for experiencing the art of our times.

THE COLLECTION The collection spans the full range from works from classical modernity, Cubism, Futurism and Surrealism up to the art movements of the 1960s and 1970s, Pop Art, Fluxus and Nouveau Réalisme. The collection contains early 20th century paintings and sculptures from among others Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Pablo Picasso and Alberto Giacometti. In addition to important Pop Art works by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, other significant positions such as Fluxus, conceptual art and Viennese Actionism are also present. In the coming years, mumok’s collection will continue to expand addressing current positions in film, video and photography.

EXHIBITIONS Visitors to mumok will find a changing programme of major exhibitions of present-day and avant-garde works from 1945 onwards. Selected pieces from the museum’s own collection help illustrate the theme in question. From modern to pop art, mumok represents a contemporary experience in the middle of Vienna’s historic centre.

Introductory or themed tours Detailed introductory tours are designed to show you the highlights of the collection, explain mumok’s architecture or present current exhibitions. Saturdays and Sundays at 14.00 hours, duration: 60 minutes. Group tours mumok Vienna

Paint Your Heart Out A short but intensive confrontation with selected works from the collection is continued in an individual Re-Action on the part of the participants in our large studio. Discover the artist in you! Let your creativity develop together with friends, clients or colleagues.

Exclusive Evening Opening Invite your guests to an exclusive evening tour through the mumok followed by a champagne reception or dinner. We will plan your evening at the museum in the exclusive atmosphere of contemporary architecture and modern art combined with culinary indulgence.

Shop For followers of design and art, the museum shop is a must-see. It sells literature on modern and contemporary art, exhibition catalogues and designer accessories such as umbrellas, mobile phone covers and bags.

Library The library offers a comprehensive collection for research and a more scholarly approach to art. The library contains about 30,000 media, especially books, artists’ books, catalogues and magazines on art from the Jasper Johns, Target, 1967-1969, © VBK Vienna, 2011
