RICK EGAN If you participated in previous action photography classes, or know the basics of action photography and are ready for the next level of instruction, this course will cover mastering manual settings on DSLR cameras, photographing indoor and low-light situations, improving composition for better photographs, using strobes for improved lighting and photographing people and portraits on location.

JOSHUA PETERSEN Join this creative yet practical class for all levels of artists who want to improve illustration skills in mediums including pen and ink, paint and digital media. Learn how to develop your personal creativity, style and character design. Topics will range from graphic novels, comic books, editorial illustration and satirical art to learning how to contact publishing companies about illustrating books and creating eBooks. Bring a sketch pad, pencil and eraser along with one to three compositions you have done.

SHERRI MELTON Learn computer basics in a fun environment and beat the technology blues. You will learn to use e-mail, browse the Internet, protect your personal information and install new software, as well as learn the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. MICHAEL HAMBLIN Never shy away from a dance floor again. This class will introduce you to various styles of couples’ ballroom dances such as the waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha and many more. THE SYRIAN CONFLICT ABDUL KAADAN We hear a lot about the Syrian crisis, but what exactly is it? Learn about the conflict and its consequences from international history professor and physician Dr. Abdul Nasser Kaadan. Dr. Kaadan taught at Aleppo University until 2015 when he was forced to flee from Syria to Turkey. He is an internationally renowned scholar and president of the International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine. This is a repeat of a popular summer class. NOVEL WRITING AND PUBLISHING METTE IVIE-HARRISON The hardest part about writing your novel is writing your novel. This class is designed to get you on the path to publication with the writing skills you need. You will learn how to build characters, craft plot, write dialogue, sketch a world and more. CHRIS BODILY This course is for anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of improvisational acting. You will explore the basic principles of agreement, listening and scene building. This course offers valuable skills for new and experienced performers alike.

INSTRUCTOR VARIES “Cooking for the Health of It” is a fourweek series led by Weber State’s nutrition program. BRADLEY CLARK This class will explore watercolor materials, properties and techniques for the advanced watercolor student. You will study historic and current works in watercolors and complete a variety of techniques and approaches such as landscape, abstract and still life painting. JOAN THOMPSON Discover food’s power to promote your health. Prepare healthy dishes to highlight different foods and their nutritional values. Resources about the foods will also be provided to you to help you make healthy choices.

MONICA ROMNEY The sushi social teaches you how to prepare your own sushi, sticky rice and wasabi. Learn to analyze the nutritional profile of food you prepare. As an added bonus, take-home recipes will be provided so you can recreate what you made for your friends and family.

People all over the world throughout time have matched myths and stories to patterns in the night sky. Each night, we will focus on a handful of seasonal constellations, learn to find the patterns in the sky, and share stories about them. After class (weather permitting), we will proceed to the new public observatory atop the Tracy Hall Science Center to practice finding objects in the night sky.
