WELCOME TO SALISBURY RACECOURSE Welcome to our final fixture of 2021. It is a shame that we have now come to the end of another season, but a good feeling to have staged all sixteen scheduled fixtures for the first time since 2017. Our first three racedays this year were behind closed doors, with only owners permitted, but we have been pleased to welcome back our annual badgeholders and day paying customers since the end of May. We have had to make some compromises on facilities available, but hope that we can be back to more normal next year. Finding staff to serve you has been a major issue - a problem repeated throughout the hospitality industry. Thank you for your understanding and patience. There have been plenty of good horses, which you would expect at Salisbury. It will be interesting to see how some of our winners progress. As usual, you will be kept updated in future racecards, when a Salisbury winner goes onto bigger and better things. Godolphin’s Albahr, which won the Stonehenge Stakes in August, was a recent Grade 1 winner at Woodbine in Toronto, Canada; and the very first winner at Salisbury back on 25th April, Angel Bleu, is very highly regarded and already a Group 2 winner. He could be seen at the highest level soon. His trainer, Ralph Beckett, will be our leading trainer this year, so congratulations to him, and to Oisin Murphy, our top jockey. The 2022 fixtures are now confirmed and are to be found later in the racecard. The staff and directors thank you all for your continued support, and we very much look forward to seeing you back at Salisbury next year. Best wishes, Jeremy Martin Executive Director & Clerk of the Course

STAR RATING EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: ‘‘‘‘‘ Selected to win the race. ‘‘‘‘• Good chance of being placed. ‘‘‘•• By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims ‘‘••• Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. ‘•••• Can be given little or no chance. OFFICIAL BHA RATING The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

TODAY’S TIPS DID YOU KNOW: DAVID MENUISIER WON A DIVISION OF THE WILLIAM HILL PLAY RESPONSIBLY BRITISH EBF NOVICE STAKES LAST YEAR WITH AUTUMN TWILIGHT AND HE SADDLES APPEARING IN THE FIRST DIVISION OF THIS YEAR’S RENEWAL AT 1.50 TODAY. RACE ONE WANEES clearly improved significantly for his debut experience based on his victory over 7f at Ascot earlier in the month. The son of Le Havre will have to defy a 6lb penalty today, but he should have more to offer on just his third start. Borntobealeader and Everyday are closely matched on their form from Newbury a couple of weeks ago and it would be no surprise to see them both in the mix once again today. Oasis Gift is closely related to plenty of winners and is a newcomer to note. WIN: WANEES DANGER: BORNTOBEALEADER RACE TWO Artaois was an impressive winner over an extended 7f at Chester last time but he could be vulnerable under a penalty today. With that in mind, preference is for WODETON, who displayed plenty of promise when filling second place on his debut at Sandown a couple of weeks ago. Storm Castle is arguably the most eye-catching newcomer in this field being the first foal out of the Group 1 winner Journey, although Thunder Roar should not be underestimated having cost 150,000 pounds at a breeze-up sale in May. WIN: WODETON DANGER: STORM CASTLE RACE THREE ISRAR, who is out of the Oaks winner Taghrooda, accounted for a decent field on his debut over a mile at Doncaster a few weeks ago. The son of Muhaarar should only improve for that experience and he could be hard to beat once again. Wind Your Neck In has made the frame in both of his previous starts at this track and he should be in the mix. Quavering is a half-brother to the dual Group 1 winner Mac Swiney and he is a newcomer to consider, along with Discretion and Juan Bermudez. WIN: ISRAR DANGER: WIND YOUR NECK RACE FOUR RIBHI was an eye-catcher when finishing a close fifth in the Flying Scotsman at Doncaster earlier this month, meeting trouble in running at a crucial stage, and the Marcus Tregoning-trained juvenile looks the strongest candidate as he returns to the scene of his debut win. Tolstoy wasn’t disgraced in the July Stakes when last seen and rates a big danger on his first run since receiving a gelding operation, while Witch Hunter shaped with plenty of promise when runner-up at Newbury on his debut and may have more to offer. WIN: RIBHI DANGER: TOLSTOY RACE FIVE INDIAN CREAK performed with credit when finishing third from a wide draw at Chester on his latest start, doing all of his best work in the closing stages. The four-year-old may have what it takes to land his second win of the year, with the last-time-out Brighton scorer Endowed tipped to give him most to do. The Clive Cox-trained Ascot Adventure drops in grade on his return from a short break and is also worth considering. WIN: INDIAN CREAK DANGER: ENDOWED RACE SIX MAJESTIC DAWN should be suited by the return to these calmer waters after recording a respectable third-placed finish in the Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock last month. The five-year-old appears to be on a workable mark and will appreciate any ease in conditions. Rebel Territory appears to be the chief threat after his success at Glorious Goodwood in July, while Just Fine, King Carney and Poet Of Life also have claims. WIN: MAJESTIC DAWN DANGER: REBEL TERRITORY RACE SEVEN If Koeman takes his place here after running at Kempton on Wednesday he has to enter the reckoning, but FRONTISPIECE cashed in on a reduced mark at Newbury when last seen and could land the spoils. Amanda Perrett's charge has been raised 4lb for that recent success, but he had been in good form prior to that and could defy the handicapper's intervention. Whitehaven also warrants respect if getting any ease in the ground, while Epsom second Cemhaan has claims. WIN: FRONTISPIECE DANGER: WHITEHAVEN TOTEPLACEPOT SUGGESTIONS: (1) 1 & 4 (2) 7 & 10 (3) 1 & 11 (4) 1 & 2 (5) 1 & 2 (6) 1 & 8

Race Summary: A few in with a shout but the vote goes to RIBHI. Marcus Tregoning’s colt looked potentially smart as he made a winning debut over C&D last month, and having not enjoyed the rub of the green in a listed event at Doncaster since, he’s taken to get back to winning ways with further progress likely. DECLARED RUNNERS 8 2020:RACE ABANDONED Blinkers worn by No. 1. Stewards Note: MARCH LAW: Following its run on 22/9/2021 it was reported that the horse hung left handed. Betting Forecast: 10-3 Poet of Life (IRE), 11-2 Just Fine (IRE), Rebel Territory (GB), 6-1 March Law (IRE), 7-1 Majestic Dawn (IRE), 10-1 Lord Protector (GER), 12-1 Prince of Harts (GB), 18-1 King Carney (GB) Race Summary: Last year’s Cambridgeshire winner MAJESTIC DAWN had to miss this year’s renewal because of fast ground but conditions should be suitable here and he could be hard to catch. Poet of Life failed to meet expectations on his handicap bow at Sandown last time but he looked a smart prospect in novices prior to that so is worth another chance, with the progressive Rebel Territory another to consider.
