The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2024

As a leading distributor of horse feed, bedding and supplements in the greater GCC area, I am once again immensely proud to support the Jockey Club at Newmarket Racecourses for the 2024 season. Newmarket is credited as being where thoroughbred racing first started which is why so many from every corner of the world assemble and appreciate The Rowley Mile and The July Course.

As ever, the enthusiasm of Sophie Able and her team at Newmarket translates into a top class service for Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and Stable Staff and for that we are deeply grateful.

I would like to wish all those visiting Newmarket throughout the 2024 season, the very best of luck.

Have a wonderful day at the races today.

BETTING EXPLAINED

Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number

Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.

‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

TIMEFALL: Following its run on 29/6/2024 it was reported that the horse briefly lost its action.

Probable S.P’s: 3-1 Lady Chartwell (IRE), 4-1 Loch Leven (IRE), 9-2 Bouvier (IRE), 6-1 Timefall (GB), 7-1 Make Love (GB), 10-1 Captivate (IRE), 14-1 Silver Ghost (IRE), 20-1 Al Waseela (IRE), 25-1 Thine Be The Glory (IRE), 25-1 Mandana (IRE), 25-1 Bear Facts (IRE), 33-1 Ceira G (IRE)

BOUVIER represents a yard not known for its success with juveniles but she made a very pleasing start when third at Doncaster and, granted normal progress, she could well be up to this task. Lady Chartwell’s debut was also promising so she’s feared, along with Timefall. TIMEFORM PREDICTION:

RIC & MARY HAMBRO

Ric and Mary Hambro were renowned figures in the world of horse racing, particularly at Newmarket, where Ric was a key player for many years.

Ric was a keen breeder of racehorses and served as chairman of Newmarket Racecourses from 2004 to 2009. He was a longstanding member of The Jockey Club and stewarded at many racecourses across the UK.

His wife, Mary, shared his passion for breeding racehorses and was a bloodstock pioneer. She was known for training horses such as Dovers Hill and Beechy Bank. Beechy Bank equalled the all-time British record starting price as her first Flat winner at a colossal 200-1 at Warwick.

Beyond horse racing, Ric was the treasurer of Macmillan Cancer Support in 1983 and served as chairman of trustees from 1991 to 2001. He played a significant role in the growth of Macmillan during his chairmanship and was an excellent ambassador for the charity. After stepping down as chairman, he was elected deputy president and remained a valued supporter

The Hambro family are dedicated to supporting and maintaining the strong spirit of Newmarket through various events and initiatives.

Their exemplary commitment is both appreciated and demonstrated as longstanding sponsors of Race 5 on today’s card, the Listed Aphrodite Fillies’ Stakes, marking their unwavering legacy in Newmarket’s racing history

PLAY SMARTER

While the lack of a recent run is a slight concern, if ONE EVENING picks up where she left off last season on this belated reappearance she could prove a tough nut to crack. She was runner-up in the Group 2 Park Hill at Doncasterbefore running awaywith a heavy-ground listed race at Bath when last seen in October Drawn To Dream, a useful performer in Germany, shaped well on the first of her two runs at Royal Ascot in June and she is feared most ahead of Nakheel and Sea of Roses.
