A DAY IN THE LIFE WITH LAURA GIBSON-BRABAZON
1) What’s your role at The Jockey Club?
I am the Partnerships Manager at Newmarket Racecourse and manage all new and existing race sponsors helping to deliver a very memorable race day. No task too big or small!
2) How long have you worked here?
I have been with the Jockey Club since October 2021
3) What’s your favourite race meeting at Newmarket Racecourse?
The July Festival
4) What’s your favourite part of a raceday?
Spending time with sponsors pre and post races and watching the presentations unfold
5) Which is your favourite horse to run at Newmarket?
In 2022, having a horse like Inspiral run in the Tattersalls Falmouth, Group 1 was incredible. She is a lovely horse and looking forward to seeing her back on the Rowley Mile in autumn.
6) Who is your favourite jockey that’s ridden at Newmarket?
It’s lovely to chat to Kieran Shoemark outside the weigh room when we are both between races.
7) What do you enjoy most about working at Newmarket Racecourses?
Delivering race days and meeting new sponsors, which sometimes only happens to be on a race day. I love spending time in the paddock and being up close and personal with some of the finest racehorses in training. It gives you a really good eye for a good horse. I’d like to think!
8) What do you make sure you carry with you on every raceday?
I don’t have much room for anything else bar two phones, a walkie talkie, my clip board and race card! I suppose I make sure I have my phone on me all the time.
9) Favourite book?
I’m not one to read… much… but I’ll go off the last book I read which was written by Dolly Alderton, Everything I know about love, A memoir! Take it as you wish!
10) Favourite holiday destination?
I love Dubai.
11) If you had to eat one meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner, every day, what would it be?
Dinner. Dinner. Dinner. I love an evening meal!
