THE TRACK A RIGHT-HANDED OVAL CIRCUIT ALMOST A MILE AND A QUARTER IN EXTENT, WHICH JOINS THE STRAIGHT FIVE FURLONGS COURSE HALF-A-MILE FROM HOME. THE BENDS ARE SHARP, PUTTING BIG, LONG-STRIDING TYPES AT A SLIGHT DISADVANTAGE.

TODAY’S FEATURE RACE Today’s feature race is the Visit racingtv.com Handicapp Stakes. Run over five furlongs, fur just the 6 runners head down to post for what should be a fast and furiouss contest over the minimum ttrip. With four of the six rivals already having course and distance success, you can see why these are tow towards the top of the betting but the Ewann Whillans runner is the one that the market has h come for. JORDAN ORDAN ELECTRICS EL was narrowly denied by a neck att Hamilton last time out, in his bid to complete the hat-trick on good-to-firm goo ground, and arrives here on thee same dangerous mark. Others in with a chance includes the Jim Goldie-trained G PRIMO'S COMET who always ways puts in a sound effort and should go cl close again. MILITI TIA lookss tthe other main danger in the field with Daniel Tudhope back in the saddle but has it all to do at the weights. w

JOCKEYS TO WATCH CH DANIEL TUDHOPE looks to have a fantastic set et of rides througho throughout the day and it would come to no suprise to see him pick up a win or two. CLIFFORD LEE also so looks l to be booked on some solid chances, especially in the first race when he teams up with th BBullet Force, who can put both his second places to good use and go in at the third time ime of asking. PAUL PAU MULRENNAN is the other jockey who catches the eye throughoutt today's card with a few fancied fanc chances and it's hard to see him not landing a winner nner as well.

TRAINERS TO WATCH

Despite not being the strongest in the market MARK JOHNSON is always trainer to look out for. His runners often pull upsets and are tenacious all the way to the winning post, so don't be suprised if he still manages to pull something out of the bag. EWAN WHILLIANS has just the one runner on the card and as the market suggests, he should be winning this feature race on the card with Jordan Electrics. JIM GOLDIE has been in good form here so far this season and will be hoping to add a couple more wins to tally today. Rory and Primo's Comet look to be his best chances at success, however.

RACE DESCRIPTIONS 1:15 THE BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF MAIDEN STAKES (GBB RACE) Our Opener is a seven furlongs maiden stakes for two-year-olds. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.

1:45 THE 100% RACING TV PROFITS BACK TO RACING CLASSIFIED SELLING STAKES This race is a seven furlongs classified stakes for three to five-year-olds which have been rated from 0 to 65. Unlike in a handicap when a horses rating reflects the weight that they will carry, the weights in this type of race are decided solely on the basis of age or sex. This means that the higher rated horses should, theoretically, hold an advantage, as they are not forced to concede weight to lower rated rival. With this also being a selling race, the winner is automatically put up for aution after the race.

2:20 THE RACING TV PROFITS RETURNED TO RACING HANDICAP STAKES This is a one mile and one furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 55. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

2:50 THE VISIT RACINGTV.COM HANDICAP STAKES This is a five furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 66 to 85. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 75 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 70.

3:20 THE EVERY RACE LIVE ON RACING TV HANDICAP STAKES This is a two mile and two furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 65. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb.

3:50 THE BET AT RACINGTV.COM HANDICAP STAKES This is a seven furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 56 to 75. Like most handicaps on the flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage

4:20 THE WATCH RACING TV NOW HANDICAP STAKES Closing the card is another handicap contest, This is a five furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds a which have been rated from 46 to 65. Like all other handicaps on today’s card this means that should a horse rated 55 take part they would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 50.

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED

Eaach horse has beeen given a star ratingg, these are defined beloow: ‘‘‘‘‘ Selectedd to win the race. ‘‘‘‘• Good chancce of being placed. ‘‘‘•• By no means ouut of the reeckoning but at least one or two hold stronger cllaims. ‘‘••• Unlikely to win butt not totally without hope. ‘•••• Can be given little or no chance.

PLACING A BET HAVING A FLUTTER IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE FUN OF COMING RACING. 1. PICK YOUR WINNER!

Many people select a horse based on it’s name or jockey colours or go to the Parade Ring to view the horses. Alternatively you may wish to follow a particular jockey or trainer, or a tipster in a newspaper. Others like to look at the horse’s previous races or ‘form’.

2. WHERE TO PLACE YOUR BET

1. In the Betting Ring, in front of the Grandstand, with a racecourse ‘bookie’. This is great fun as you can shop around for the bookmaker offering the biggest odds on your selection. 2. With totepool at one of their designated betting points all around the racecourse. 3. At the totesport betting shop in the Links Pavilion, which is identical to a high street betting shop. 4. At the totesport club office, if you are a member of the totesport club.

3. PLACE YOUR BET.

Decide how much you want to stake, and what type of bet you would like to place. Then Cheer your selection home! There are a few simple rules that you need to follow after placing your bet. - Please check your receipt. Mistakes cannot be rectified after a race is off. - Keep your bet receipt safe. You will need this to collect your winnings. - Don’t throw away your ticket until the racecourse announcer says ‘Weighed In’. - Even if your horse has not won, the result may be changed if there is a ‘Stewards Enquiry’. GOOD LUCK!
