WELCOME Welcome to our first race meeting of September on 1 September. Where has the summer gone? It’s often a lovely month weather-wise and we will hope for that this year as we host four fixtures for you all to enjoy. Today we have a lovely evening of racing planned with good ground for the runners and riders to experience. The track team has done an excellent job maintaining the racing surface over the summer on some days where it has been incredibly warm and dry compared to other seasons before. With a full card of sponsors supporting this evening’s racing I’d like to thank CAE Technology Services, Weatherbys, EBF, and Scottish Racing Academy for their sponsorship and partnership with us all here at Hamilton Park to be able to enrich the prize money and racing that we have staged this year. We have been able to offer a total prize money purse of over £1M this year in our attempt to attract the best of the trainers and their horses to Hamilton Park during this testing of years. I hope all of the sponsors here today have a most enjoyable time with us. This evening’s racing opens with EBF’s Novice Stakes at 4.50pm with course winner Jilly Cooper from Mark Johnston’s yard back to win again after doing so here on 16 June. The Weatherbys Bloodstock Pro 2yo Series Final Nursery Handicap is always a great race with Ryan’s Party the favourite, having won just two weeks ago here for Kevin Ryan, looking to double that success rate ahead of Mark Johnston’s I’m a Gambler who was cheered home by our big crowd on Ladies’ Night, 31 July. Tonight’s feature race, the Flower of Scotland Fillies’ Handicap has seven strong contenders closely rated so I will leave it up to you all to pick your winner from that field. We are so delighted to be again allowed a full capacity crowd to come racing here at Hamilton Park. With the help of South Lanarkshire Council, and you our customers being so accommodating with the changes in restrictions over the summer, we have had our well thought out and structured plans approved to allow us to operate a safe and secure site for our customers and staff. We must all remember however, that the virus has not gone away and so I would ask that you all remember to wear a mask when you are indoors on-site, (unless you are seated to eat or drink), which includes when you go inside to the bathrooms, enter and exit the hospitality suites, are in any of the official buildings of the racecourse such as the office, or Weighing Room. We would also encourage you still to wear a mask, in line with Scottish Government’s recommendations, when you are in a crowded area e.g. the Parade Ring, around the stage tonight, or in a large group outdoors. We have three fixtures still to go this season after this evening on Sunday 19, Monday 20 and Monday 27 September. After too long a time, we have invited the very popular Big Vern n the Shootahs back to join us after racing on Sunday 19 September and so why not get your tickets now for what I know will be a super Sunday afternoon? Also, our finale of the season on 27 September will be a fantastic family day with lots on offer for the children so be sure to book now and secure your tickets. Kind regards, VIVIEN CURRIE MBE, CHIEF EXECUTIVE

RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a six furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 65. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 60 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 55.

THE WEATHERBYS BLOODSTOCK PRO 2-Y-O SERIES FINAL NURSERY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) RACE DESCRIPTION

FOR TWO YRS OLD NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 6

RACE STATISTICS

Weatherbys Bloodstock have very generously sponsored this race They will present a memento to the winning Owner, Trainer and Jockey. In addition, they will present a cash prize to the person in charge of the horse judged to be the best turned out. Owners Prize Money. Winner £8126; Second £4064; Third £2032; Fourth £1016; Fifth £508; Sixth £254. (Penalty Value £10308)

A nursery is a handicap that is restricted to two-year-olds only. In order to be allowed to take part, entrants must have already run in three maiden or novice races, or have won two races, which then qualifies them for an official handicap rating based on what they have achieved so far. Quite simply, the higher their rating, the bigger the weight they have to carry. This particular race is run over six furlongs.

Leading course trainer (16-21): K Dalgleish (59 wins from 438 runners, 13%) runs NINKY NONK Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): M Johnston (15 wins from 122 runners, 12%) runs I’M A GAMBLER Longest Traveller: FINAL ACCOUNT trained by R Fahey, Malton, 203 miles. LUNASA trained by Mrs L Stubbs, Malton, 203 miles. BAY BREEZE trained by T Easterby, Malton, 203 miles.

BETTING FORECAST: 15-8 Ryan’s Party (IRE),

9-4 I’m A Gambler (IRE), 5-1 Bay Breeze (GB), 7-1 Ninky Nonk (IRE), 16-1 Final Account (GB), 28-1 Lunasa (IRE) RACE SUMMARY: This can go to Mark Johnston’s I’M A GAMBLER, who failed to bring up the hat-trick under a penalty in a much deeper nursery than he had previously contested at York a fortnight ago but is taken to regain the winning thread here from his revised mark. Ryan’s Party is feared most making his handicap debut having got off the mark over this C&D last month, ahead of Ninky Nonk. 1-2-3: 1.I’M A GAMBLER (IRE) 2.RYAN’S PARTY (IRE) 3.NINKY NONK (IRE)

THE CAREERS IN RACING WITH SCOTTISHRACINGACADEMY.CO.UK HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile three furlongs handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 56 to 75.

ONE MILE about THREE FURLONGS (11f abt 15yds) (2200m)

Fifth Race

6.50p.m.

THE WEATHERBYS PERSONALISED GIFTS NOVICE STAKES (CLASS 5) RACE DESCRIPTION

This contest is another Novice Stakes, this time run over a distance of one mile and three furlongs. There are a variety of reasons why the three-year-olds in this race are still light on experience. Stoutly bred horses are unlikely to be seen at their best over the shorter distances of their juvenile season whilst a setback or injury can curtail even the most precociously bred horse’s two-year-old career

ONE MILE, ONE FURLONG about 35 YARDS (9f abt 35yds) (1800m)

Seventh Race

7.50p.m.

THE HAMILTON-PARK.CO.UK HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) RACE DESCRIPTION

Our final race of the day is a one mile one furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60.

RACE STATISTICS

Leading course trainer (16-21): K Dalgleish (59 wins from 438 runners, 13%) runs HEAR ME OUT Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): T Easterby (9 wins from 110 runners, 8%) runs TEMPER TRAP Longest Traveller: HOT TEAM trained by R Fahey, Malton, 203 miles. LORD WARBURTON trained by M Campion, Malton, 203 miles. TEMPER TRAP trained by T Easterby, Malton, 203 miles.

BETTING FORECAST: 5-2 Hot Team (IRE), 10-3 Temper Trap (GB),

11-2 Chinese Spirit (IRE), 6-1 Hear Me Out (IRE), 7-1 The Brora Pobbles (GB), 16-1 Lord Warburton (IRE), 25-1 One Last Hug (GB) RACE SUMMARY: TEMPER TRAP was too free in an amateur riders’ event last month at Pontefract where the testing conditions probably didn’t help. He made it 2-3 over this C&D on his penultimate start and may well prove the answer to this tricky contest. Hot Team should be in the mix, while Hear Me Out is of interest now handicapping and The Brora Pobbles is not without hope, but Chinese Spirit is second choice. 1-2-3: 1.TEMPER TRAP 2.CHINESE SPIRIT (IRE) 3.HOT TEAM (IRE) STEWARDS NOTE: TEMPER TRAP: Following its run on 4/8/2021 it was reported that the trainer could not explain the poor run. CHINESE SPIRIT: Following its run on 18/8/2021 it was reported that the horse started awkwardly and lost ground.
