Evening Racing THURSDAY 25th NOVEMBER 2021

Official Programme £3.00

Welcome CLASSIC THURSDAY EVENING RACING AT CCR! Welcome to Chelmsford City Racecourse (CCR) for one of our signature Thursday nights of floodlit racing! It has been a difficult eighteen months for all of us up and down the country, so it has been fantastic to see people really enjoying themselves back at CCR since the summer. Whilst we’re lucky to have lots of outdoor space here, we can all still play our part during to the ongoing covid situation. As such, we encourage you to continue with good practices that can help you and your fellow racegoers. Please wear a face mask at your discretion indoors in busier areas and continue to use the hand sanitisers available. Thank you. The eight races this evening have attracted 70 runners, and they’ll all be looking to win a share of the generous £80,000 or so prize money pot that’s on offer. The feature event on our card tonight is race five at 6:20pm - the £19,000 “Betsi Handicap Stakes” overseven furlongs. Six talented runners are in the small but select line-up for this quality contest, and David Loughnane’s Trumble will surely be hard to beat. He’s unbeaten in three career runs at CCR and will be looking to make it four in a row here tonight. Trumble’s last win here earlier this month was really impressive and he looks like an improver with plenty more in the tank. We hope you have a fantastic time with your friends and family this evening. Our next fixture is tomorrow night when we’ll hope to see you again for all the colour, fun and excitement of floodlit horseracing at Chelmsford City Racecourse. And remember – Christmas party season is about to get into full swing, so be sure to book a great night out at one of our weekend parties throughout December. Fraser Garrity Racecourse Manager

Timeform Rating

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

CITY SELECTIONS A number of in-form players makes for a cracking contest. Tippy Toes impressively made all over C&D three weeks ago and demands respect, while stablemate Baileys Accolade will likely race prominently too and must enter calculations following her easy win at Newcastle. However, that pair could tee the race up for a closer and SASSY RASCAL gets the nod after coming from last to first over 5f at Lingfield last time. SASSY RASCAL

TILLYMINT is an interesting newcomer from a yard that do well with juveniles and would be the pick with the Loughnane team in good form. CITY SELECTIONS Between The Sheets has steadily been creeping down the handicap and has a definite chance in this contest, but narrow preference is for INTRIGUING LADY. An aggressive ride is expected with first-time cheekpieces equipped and her penultimate effort at Newcastle suggests that she is more than capable of winning a race of this magnitude. Iur Cinn Tra has his sights lowered and certainly isn’t out of it either. INTRIGUING LADY

This is very trappy and BETWEEN THE SHEETS is chanced to shed her maiden tag. She has been running well and is yet to try this trip with the visor fitted, so is marginally favoured. Third Race

PLAY SMARTER

This looks the stronger of the two divisions and BE GLORIOUS heads the shortlist. She was poorly placed over C&D earlier in the month and should be able to improve on that effort today. Leap Abroad ran very well given he had a tricky draw at Kempton last time and he’ll be a threat. Accelerando is far from out of it either.

CITY SELECTIONS ARION displayed plenty of promise when finishing second on her debut at Newmarket late last month and the daughter of Dubawi could be hard to beat with that experience now under her belt. Mizzen You has made the frame in both of her previous starts and she should be thereabouts once again, while Hul Ah Bah Loo is the pick of the remainder. ARION

PLAY SMARTER

An interesting race to finish with the vote in favour of HATHLOOL. He showed plenty to work on starting out for his new yard when runner-up at Newcastle (10.2f) 17 days ago and appeals as being on a good mark ahead of his handicap debut with the prospect of more to come. Jenson Benson is thriving for Shaun Lycett and feared most, ahead of Balgair and Pledge of Honour.
