YOUR 14 DAY ITINERARY

DAY 1-2

Touch down in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s vibrant southern metropolis. Get the lowdown from your Ground Team, and become a millionaire overnight when you convert your cash to Vietnamese Dong! Head up the 5th highest building in Asia, the gliNering Bitexco building, to sip a fresh juice as the sun sets.

what good – and bad – tourism prac6ces look like and how they impact on sustainability for everyone.

Then you’re off to the Cu Chi tunnels, a former stronghold of the Viet Cong. The tunnels served not only as living quarters, but as supply routes and hospitals for thousands of guerilla fighters. They remain a testament to the resilience of the Vietnamese people. Finally, harness your crea6ve skills and try your hand in a drawing class. Visit a tradi6onal ar6st village and see all sorts of styles from tradi6onal lacquer pain6ngs and oil pain6ngs on canvas to ink on paper and ceramic pain6ng.

Meet your community at Vinh Long Travelling 3.5hrs SUPPORT Welfare Ini6a6ves Cuu Long Hotel Catered

Head out on your private minibus to meet your host community at Vinh Long where you will be suppor6ng a welfare ini6a6ve to improve housing condi6ons for vulnerable families in the region. When you arrive you’ll be greeted by the Community Facilitator who will introduce you to the community. Ask ques6ons to gain a deeper insight into their way of life. In the mornings you will assist skilled local labourers to build robust new housing with running water supplies for vulnerable families. Learn from the locals how to dig founda6ons, build walls, lay piping and turn on the taps. Embracing everything local, in the aZernoons it’s 6me to get involved! Try your hand at cultural ac6vi6es including:

•  Learn how to craZ conical hats using tradi6onal palm leaves

•  Dive into a cookery class to master the art of local Mekong cuisine

•  Roll up your sleeves and get out in the paddy fields to learn about rice farming

•  Prac6ce catching fish with rods, bamboo traps and even your bare hands!

•  Designing and preparing a talent show to

entertain your hosts at your farewell celebra6on

Back to Ho Chi Minh then overnight train to Danang Travelling 3.5 hrs La Felix Hotel Travelling overnight

Hop on a boat cruise to the floa6ng markets and watch pineapples and watermelons being tossed between sellers’ boats. Spot local ar6sans on the riverside as you weave through a maze of canals. Then it’s 6me to head back to the city. Find your feet and explore Ho Chi Minh City, visi6ng it’s most famous landmarks from the Opera House and Central Post Office to the War Remnants Museum. Pause to see history through the eyes of Vietnamese people. Swap into a cyclo – a tradi6onal rickshaw – and meander through bright, burs6ng China town alleyways, down medicine alley and back to your hotel. Then stock up on snacks, a Bahn Mi (a Vietnamese twist on a bagueNe) is a great takeaway, pick your way through the crowds and jump onto your overnight train bound for Danang.

AZer a short transfer to Hoi An, head out to explore the city, uncover homemade silk, expert tailors and stunning architecture. Watch beau6ful pagodas pass by as you jump on a boat cruise down the Thu Bon River. You’ve got your work cut out as you dive into a cookery class to become a master of the rice paper roll and pack in a lantern making class. Learn the tricks of the trade and see the way silk and bamboo are expertly woven before diving in for a go yourself. Choose your own paNerns and silks and take away a momento to be proud of.

AZer a morning yoga session, it’s 6me to head up to Hue. On your way drop into the Marble Mountains, a cluster of marble and limestone hills named aZer the five elements of earth, fire, water, metal and wood. Climb the mountain to see the beau6ful view of Danang beach, a major landmark during the turbulent years of the Vietnam War. Learn how history has shaped Vietnam. In the morning explore the picturesque town of Hue, head out to explore the ancient walled Citadel, see the final res6ng place of the Emperors and take a boat cruise down the Perfume River to visit one of Vietnam's most beau6ful pagodas, Thien Mu. Then kick back on your overnight train to Hanoi, watching the world pass by your window as you’re bound North. Wake up in Hanoi, one of the world’s most historic capitals. Smell the delicious street food on every corner, dodge the fruit sellers carrying their goods on a bamboo shoulder pole, and lose yourself in the narrow streets of the Old Quarter. Get ready for an unforgeNable spectacle as you head to the lakeside Thang Long Theatre to watch a breathtaking water puppet show. Catch up on some sleep then get ready for a walking tour to discover the gems of Hanoi’s old quarter. Uncover beau6ful French colonial architecture and find the only family s6ll making tradi6onal paper masks. Hear their inspiring stories of how they have baNled to keep this ancient art form alive.

Water puppetry is a tradi6onal arjorm da6ng as far back as the 11th century. Hidden Performers behind a curtain whisk brightly painted puppets along waist-deep water to tell stories of village life and age-old folk tales.
