February 22, 2018 Dear Williamson County Association of Realtors: Welcome to Georgetown! I hope you enjoy the tour of our beautiful neighborhoods developing in and around the western parts of our community. We are focused on expanding employment opportunities and bringing high-quality retailers to the City, while preparing for the many new people who will make Georgetown their home this year. We kicked off 2018 with the opening of the new Randalls on Williams Drive. Wolf Crossing, a 250,000 square foot retail development across I-35 from Wolf Ranch is slated to break ground this spring. Tenants will include P. Terry’s, Jason’s Deli, Tiff’s Treats, Gold’s Gym, Pet Supermarket, a hotel, and a grocery store. Just north of Wolf Ranch, Wolf Lakes recently announced their vision for a mixed-use concept with office, medical, retail, and residential components across their 164 acres. Managing resources and shaping growth thoughtfully is always a challenge, especially when you are perennially highlighted as one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. In terms of affordability, Georgetown has worked to maintain the lowest tax rate in the region, as well as competitive water and electric rates. Our community wants the city to grow in a strategic way. Currently, there are over $200 million worth of capital improvement underway in Georgetown. This includes the new Southwest Bypass, which will connect Hwy 29 to Leander Rd and eventually go to I-35. In far west Georgetown, Garey Park is under construction. When it opens, it will be 1.5 times the size of Zilker Park. Finally, this summer, Georgetown will begin receiving power from a solar farm in West Texas, making us one of the few cities in the U.S. with 100 percent renewable energy. Last year, the Georgetown City Council created a new vision statement for the city. Georgetown: A caring community honoring our past and innovating for the future. City Council is committed to preserving Georgetown’s unique charm and character - from the San Gabriel River, to its great school district and Southwestern University, to having the Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas – because these are the reasons why people choose to make Georgetown their home.
