In an impressive display, Warren Central High School has once again claimed the title of 4th Region Basketball Champions. This marks their 20th region championship, solidifying their legacy as a regional basketball powerhouse The team’s dedication and skill continues to bring pride and excitement to the community, celebrating a long tradition of excellence.

South Warren High School's boys’ basketball team captured hearts with their inspiring Cinderella story, finishing as the runner-up in the 2026 4th Region Championship. Their journey has been marked by determination and perseverance, exceeding expectations and bringing the community together in support of their achievements. The team’s performance has set a promising foundation for future successes.

The Leadership Gauntlet challenges students to think critically, collaborate with peers, and demonstrate the qualities of strong leaders. We are proud of all the WCPS students that participated. They represented their schools so well and showcased their exemplary leadership skills.
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Leadership Gauntlet! Anna Zimmer from Briarwood Elementary, Anadelle Burden from Natcher Elementary, and Elodie Hammer from Alvaton Elementary were recognized for their outstanding leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Team WCPS had a fantastic day at ELPO Law’s Top Golf Classic, supporting the Stuff The Bus Foundation. Staff, business, and community members came together to raise money for the organization, which provides essential school supplies for local students.

Congratulations to South Warren High School Athletic Director Jason Grissom, who has been selected by the 4th Region Athletic Directors as the 4th Region Athletic Director of the Year
Grissom was recognized for his outstanding leadership, dedication to student-athletes, and commitment to supporting athletic programs at South Warren High School. His efforts continue to help create positive experiences and opportunities for Spartan athletes, both on and off the field.
Seven WCPS teams competed in the FIRST LEGO League State Championship, showcasing impressive innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. WEMS Raider Robotics Blue earned second place overall, as well as the Robot Design Award, and received an invitation to compete at the World Championship an incredible accomplishment for the team. Congratulations to all the WCPS students participating; you make us all proud!

Warren East Middle held its first-ever Future Raider Robotics Camp. The current robotics students worked with students from Bristow, North Warren, Oakland and Richardsville elementaries to learn the basics of building and coding robots. Thank you to the Tennessee Valley Authority for helping make this possible through a TVA STEM Award.

Greenwood High School’s Isaiah Summers has been named Co-Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.
His dedication, hard work, and leadership on the court have led to an outstanding season, and this recognition reflects the pride his teammates, coaches, and school community have in all he has accomplished.
Congratulations to Lyndsey Duke-Brooks and Avery Wilmurth from Bristow Elementary, who have been accepted to present at the Model Schools Conference. They will present on the topic of Teacher Hacks for Effective Instruction.


Congratulations to Greenwood Head Basketball Coach Will McCoy, who was selected as 4th Region Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches The honor is voted on by head coaches, assistant coaches, and athletic directors across the region.

The WCPS Education Foundation raised $3,000 through a collaborative effort with restaurateur and WCPS 2025 HODA Inductee Josh Poling.
Josh, a 2004 Greenwood High School graduate, is a successful restaurant entrepreneur and business owner. He first opened the restaurant Home Cafe & Marketplace with his wife, Chelsey, in 2011. In 2018, the couple opened Hickory and Oak, an upscale restaurant, making a one-million-dollar investment in downtown Bowling Green Through Mr Poling’s generosity, Hickory and Oak is known for numerous community events including providing steaks to veterans on Veterans Day, as well as gifting steaks to local educators during the first week of school. He also integrates the restaurant into downtown events which are vital to the community’s culture
In June 2024, the Polings acquired Broadbent B&B Foods.




The Bright Ideas Grant projects, made possible through the financial support of the WCPS Education Foundation, are underway
Ryan Marie, a 3rd Grader at Alvaton Elementary School, is busy installing Squishy Circuits and maker’s space items for her project entitled STEM and STEAM Kits for Innovation. Students will soon begin using this new equipment for coding and maker space activities.
At Drakes Creek Middle School, Max Vanschenkhof, Grady Spears, and Lydia Nelson are hard at work on their project which is titled “Planting Positivity” This project will enhance and improve the outdoor space at their school with planters, native plants, and spaces for conversation and community
